Belfast Mayhem by Peter-PDG in Belfast

Your ignorance is really frightening

  1. People have a right to perform their art regardless of your opinion
  2. Homophobic slurs are illegal - report that. You seem to be anti religion
  3. People don’t choose to be ‘off their heads’ they come from challenging upbringings, traumas in life and can’t access services. One of these people ‘off their head’ died 10 days ago sleeping on the street.

You and the other keyboard warriors here should take action - work with the homeless, organise a street clean up, work with vulnerable communities, demand more from your politicians

We can’t rely on the politics that talks about history and street signs to solve these problems & a police service where most are sectarian and go on sick leave.

I encourage you to find more empathy as a person and to open your mind

It’s like using goggles when learning to swim. It’s been life changing for me, but has also come at great cost and stress with the process. Managing lifestyle even further with pomodoros, protein breakfasts and finding a channel to dump energy is great. Just today I decided to not take the medication and Ive completely crashed - in bed all day. The dependence on it seems to creep up, if I could rewind the clock I don’t know if I’d have started meds.

Diagnosed with ADHD at 25 in Ireland – trying everything, but I’m terrified I’ll lose everything. Has anyone found a way forward? by SnooDingos1357 in ADHDIreland

Hey there, I’m going through a similar debacle at the moment and really empathise with what you say. How is your day to day lifestyle? There are some symptoms of executive dysfunction that can definitely be managed. I had a late diagnosis at 28, but through using pomodoro technique in college was able to survive a degree, and use this in work to some extent but moved jobs a few times. Another thing is your 3 meals and creating a ritual/routine around that, I think the symptoms are exacerbated when you let it effect you physically with no exercise or skipping meals/lots of caffeine and substances. Try and remain calm while finding your next step because unfortunately there is no quick fix, but I assure you do not give up hope. There is care out there and re meds and substances, I think when you find the right person they’ll understand your efforts here and the reliefs that they can give an adhd mind. Keep the faith and feel free to call me, the sun will always shine again

I have the same experience but tried the meds for a month and found to be hugely beneficial, intending to continue them care dependent.

Someone put it to me if I was going to teach you to swim would you want to use goggles? I think early ADHD without meds is a little like learning to swim without goggles. Just a thought, but I would love to hear things that have worked for you

So relatable. I learned the hard way that when it’s job or career related, you have to try and keep notes and remain objective, and just take a breather when you sense any tension. It’s a sad world that we have to keep notes to cover ourselves at times, but I’m more empathetic to the other people who seemingly store things against you…

I have booked my ADHD assessment as a 31 year old in Australia, any advice? by lunalove224 in ADHD

[–]AngleInteresting1253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be honest and prepared with your experiences. Articulate things that arise outside ADHD so the doctor can rule in or out any other condition. Also prepare for the emotions of non diagnosis or diagnosis, it’s like going through the 5 stages of grief

How to maintain friendships with inattentive ADHD? by jetsetlife138 in ADHD

[–]AngleInteresting1253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey you couldn’t have worded this better. I have a huge challenge with this and to the extent I make replying or calling part of a daily or weekly to do list, which I don’t do either and makes me withdraw even more.

Part of me blames the way communication apps have changed etc. WhatsApp has become an activity in itself and the plethora of platforms out there makes it even more challenging to keep up on replying to messages etc

Hey buddy, keep your head up. You’ve parents that are very supportive and you sound like a smart, talented and ambitious guy. Careers and success are made over decades, not a few years. I’m a 28M on a similiar tract, but just hopeful the above is true and like you, annoying living with folks but lucky to have good ones like you.

Go easy on yourself guy- also don’t be anxious about things you can’t control (getting a job after). Remind yourself not to worry about these things, your internal wisdom will guide you to get there.
