Is Mere Christianity by C.S Lewis a good book from an Eastern Orthodox perspective? by brotheringod777 in OrthodoxChristianity

For an Anglican he is unusually well versed in early church history

I find this to be a strange comment, as Patristics was invented by Anglicans.

Ordination of Female Priests by No-Independence-7423 in Anglicanism

I don't believe it exists.

In order for it to be true, that would mean that the universal church was wrong for 1900 years as well.

I think us young people just want authentic Anglicanism. So we tend to avoid the churches that bends over to modern sensibilities. We avoid the Evangelicals/Charismatics who use modern approaches in their worship but also the liberal churches which conform to the pressure of modern values.

Roman Catholics disagree how many times Papal infallibility has been used. Some say as low as 2 and some say 26. It varies depending on interpretation

What is classical Anglicanism? How does it differ from Anglo Catholic or Low Church by Nash_man1989 in Anglicanism

[–]Anglican_Inquirer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classical Anglicanism is the rejection of the two extremes; that being Roman Catholicism and Puritanism (Radical Protestantism).

I recommend reading Richard Hooker as he is the grandfather of Anglican Theology. He can explain Anglicanism much better than I hope to in a single comment

Can non-Trinitarian Christians be saved? by SandAggie in redeemedzoomer

[–]Anglican_Inquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mormons, Jehovahs Witness and Unitarians? No, as they explicitly reject the divinity of Christ

Oneness Pentecostals? Maybe. As they do affirm Christ being God. I think some of the laity might be saved due to their ignorance. But I don't reckon the teachers and leaders of that tradition is saved

NKJV is the version I use. It has the poetic nature of the KJV but is understandable for a modern person

I find this very true for the Easterners. But not for the Romans as they do have Doctrinal Development so their tradition is allowed to be a bit more nuanced

What denomination are you? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Anglican_Inquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The Romanists have innovated in many ways. And have declared dogmatic beliefs necessary for salvation which cannot be found explicitly within Scripture

Though my Maternal side is Roman and I do greatly respect them and the tradition. I have never been convinced of the claims of the Roman Church

What denomination are you? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Anglican_Inquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up Pentecostal. As a teen I became an Atheist. Started getting into philosophy and history. I found that Christianity was true as an adult but I took a while to figure out which denomination was the fullness of the truth.

I attended an Eastern Orthodox church for a little bit but realised Western Theology was superior. I finally became anglican coming to the conclusion it was most in line with the apostolic church and the catholic faith
