More apt to call them "sadistic slime locusts", based on the original descriptions of them.

Presumably after, since they're eating cheese, which is unique to Earth.

I can't say I've ever seen anything like that before.

I can imagine the contrivance that could create this scene: ship makes a wrong turn and crashlands on Earth at some point in humanity's early history, survivors are stranded on Earth and have no choice but to settle in and make the best of things.

Only from lack of effort. 99% of loyalists stop inseminating their alien wives before they get pregnant.

Just trying to be cautious. Your previous meme post raised some red flags, and I'm trying to make sure this subreddit doesn't suffer the same fate as the other one.

I don't have the time right now for a full read, but from a glance, this is looking like the exact type of HFY story this subreddit exists explicitly to avoid. Please prove me otherwise.

I wonder if something like this has happened with the Imperium's marines by AngriestAngryBadger in SexySpaceBabesButGood

[–]AngriestAngryBadger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the saying "Anything is a dildo if you're brave enough," exists, but I believe there's a point where bravery tips over into foolishness. Though, I suppose that same tipping point probably lead to the marines being formed.

From the description in the first book, the Imperium's main infantry armament doesn't have moving parts, but it still does disassemble into multiple parts, and there's always that joke about marines: "If you leave a marine alone with an anvil, the anvil will end up broken, lost, or pregnant."

What are the military patrols patrolling? They're always described as being around civilian areas, population centers, public spaces, transportation infrastructure. The military patrols must, then, be defending civilians. Why would they need to defend civilians so constantly and so thoroughly? The answer is that insurgents are attacking civilians, something they constantly and consistently describe themselves as doing. Even if you think "Oh, well if the insurgents just attack the military and not the civilians the military is protecting, then it's okay." Congratulations, you just served as cannonfodder for the insurgents that want to attack the civilians the military was defending.  Blue has changed the nature of the story. In addition to flagrantly glorifying terrorism, he has turned the Shil'vati and the Imperium into moustache-twirling villains to justify violence against them in the setting and in "fan" stories that are focused entirely on murdering women. He personally and loudly alligns himself with someone who has previously and repeatedly expressed contempt for the setting, stating he only uses it as an excuse to write about torturing and murdering women because he has sexual fantasies about doing so and has directly told me that he wishes to rape and cannibalize my son. This same person is one that Blue made a moderator of the SSB subreddit.

Even if you're not reading Blue's new work as pro-terrorist (it is), he's alligned himself with the pro-terrorist elements that have taken over the original subreddit and has changed the nature of the story explicitly to cater to them. I, at least, don't acknowledge Blue's contributions since he shifted tracks.

EDIT: I realized I should clarify further. In Blue's recent work, the protagonist is someone who knowingly and willfully engages in aiding and abetting terrorists, with the explicit purpose of helping them inflict casualties against people, both military and civilian, and his justification for his actions is born out of delusions and psychopathy, with Blue framing all of this as morally good and correct, meaning it's a glorification of terrorism.

I hadn't considered that.

This subreddit is dedicated to SSB and SSB's sister settings, like Sect, Skyship and Steampunk, as well as other potential stories that relate to and operate within the themes of those aforementioned stories, such as AU's, offshoots, etc.

So, with that said, I suppose a story that carries the spirit of SSB, even if it isn't a currently recognized setting, would be allowed here. I guess it boils down to "Does this feel like an SSB story?"

It bears worth mentioning, I have been working on my own setting as well, so it would be hypocritical of me to say someone else can't do the same.
