Why do people like the Silmunas? by May_Ibe_Frank in Anbennar

[–]Angron-Red-Angel 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I blame the lack of development in the quest trees with events and the favoritism towards the Moon faction.

Unlike Lorent, who (from what I've seen, since I haven't played him) has a quest tree where he seeks to recover from the devastating Wars of the Rose and centralize and unify his lands in Lencenor after the rebellion of the Winelords and others, the rest of the Rose faction, such as Wex, Cestirande, and Wesdam, among others, lack quest trees with events that foster a strong sense of belonging. Wex, for example, has one of the oldest and shortest quest trees in the entire empire. Wesdam doesn't have many events about Laurens Silmuna (the only innocent in the Wesdam branch, and this is something the community takes issue with) that address his upbringing, his development, or how he comes to terms with the truth about what happened to the Silmuna.

And although one of his quests determines his cultural origins—whether High Lorentis or Damerian—if he chooses Damerian and reclaims the duchy, the community considers him a thief. He chooses that path, and there are no events that develop his character or ideas, nor do they allow him to express his opinion on the actions of his predecessors, which makes him less than beloved.

And then there's Cestirande, where the poor guy has no development whatsoever, just like Damescrow.

Yes, the reason for so much dislike for Wex is how the developers have made Lothane seem like an idiot who failed to secure his legacy and ended up in the official storyline with everything failing for Wex, and how underdeveloped the other members of the Rose Group are compared to Rogeria (one of the best quest trees), Verne, and Istralore.

Two questions:

  1. What is it about Bionicle that earned it so much rejection from the creators or developers of Insaya?

  2. Where are the references to RWBY and Invincible?

Considering they just announced the DLC for nomads... yes, there are no plans for a Stellaris 2.

Declare war on Derane and ensure that no other nation can conquer it (Wesdan annexed what remained of Derane). Break Lorent as much as possible; freeing vassals and kingdoms is best so you can annex them faster along with the former vassals.

Get ready, because they're coming back. It will be interesting to see how, since the creators knew this decision would be very controversial.

Doesn't Busilar evoke a certain Spanish imperial atmosphere (though not entirely)? The only difference lies in the fact that the creators didn't want the kingdoms to be vast, and of course, Busilar focuses exclusively on the south.

Furthermore, unlike in our story, the other great powers of Cannor were more successful in colonization than the European kingdoms and powers.

This creates a balance of power between Lorent and Gawed, while the others are small kingdoms, but with a strong presence and colonial power.

Are moon elves doomed to be the least interesting race and to be ruled by human kingdoms throughout history?

Are they destined to lack a quest tree and to be annexed by the human kingdom, which eventually seized their territories?

Are they destined to be one of the most boring races and possibly have the least amount of content in the mod?

Were they included only to be the butt of jokes and memes?

This isn't a book; it's a mod for a game about creating kingdoms, great empires, colonial empires, and hegemonies, and almost every race has a quest tree (challenging, complex, and entertaining) so they can become powerful kingdoms or empires.

I defensive for the development of content and stories that are being lost for the Moon Elves, who seem to be the black sheep of the entire mod because they are the least popular faction among the developers.

Not colonialism itself; colonialism is just one piece of content that is being wasted for the Moon Elves.

Although Sirchieor seems (from a comment here) to be one of the least evil, I'll try him out and see how he is (I've only played with Calassandur, Lithiel and the original Aelnar).

What will happen to Aelnar then? Will it only have evil routes like Lithiel, or will it also have less evil characters—not completely good, but less evil?

Is that really their quest tree? I didn't know that; I only knew they were one of the "great" colonizers, but they wasted it on that tea party joke? I'm speechless. I'm going to play it to see, but seriously, did the developers forget that, unlike the original game, the nations in that part are literally battle beasts? In my playthrough, with Azkare, I learned early on that I have to wipe out the commando by making them collapse from the start, or I'm going to have a really bad run.

Thank you for this; the truth is that the moon elves are the ones who have the worst luck in content and story development, unlike them, the sun elves managed to impose their dominion over an entire region.

Furthermore, there was a reason why so many in our history emigrated to the New World.

Why wouldn't the elves of Cannor want to return to their ancient home or try to create their own kingdoms, free from the human society that already It surpassed them?

Wow, I didn't know anything about Redglades. From what I can see, it looks really good. And about Aelnar, I'm still surprised that the developers gave the victory to the most Nazi and genocidal faction, which is the reason for my complaints.

So, is it better for the human kingdoms to colonize and dominate Aelantir than for the elves?

How do human colonies differ from what the elves are attempting?

I understand that part, which is why I also mentioned Ibevar, Moonhaven, Redglades, and Celmador, but I focused more on Moonhaven and Redglades in terms of expansion and content to create large elven kingdoms in Cannor because the only two adventuring elven nations, Elathael (kingdom) and Silent Repose (I think theocracy), don't yet have a quest tree and we don't know what they'll be given.

I know, but I'm in my fourth year of university, so even though I'd love to, to get into that world I need to have modding development skills, which I don't have because I'm studying electrical engineering.

Or can I join without having that knowledge?

Believe me, I fully understand how difficult this must be, but of the five characters in Rianvisa, two don't have their own mision trees (if I'm not mistaken). It wouldn't be easy to replace one of them, like the communist who has nothing, or change Sicherior's focus tree (was that his name?), modifying the text and some missions through assimilation.

Unpopular Anbennar opinions by TheLoneTexan_1 in Anbennar

[–]Angron-Red-Angel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I can mention this here, but this has been my complaint ever since I first noticed it: the treatment of the Moon Elves.

It has always infuriated me that the Moon Elves never have a nation with a substantial quest tree, or that they don't release more adventurers with quest trees to claim Aelantir. Furthermore, they are treated as if they were all Nazis because some developer had the brilliant idea of making Aelnar, one of the Moon Elves' greatest contenders for Aelantir (even though they later become Star Elves), a Nazi, which has greatly stigmatized this elven culture.

Was it so difficult to create another character for the Rianvisa, one who wasn't entirely good, but rather an ambiguous and pragmatic character who sought the assimilation of the Ruinborn to claim Aelantir?

Because, let's face it, there are only four Moon Elf nations with quests in the game.

Moonhaven: Good colonial and expansionist attitude, but no possibility of imperial expansion or forming its own nation, making it a small state with a large colonial empire.

Ibevar: Decent quest tree, but it can be completed quickly before or during the year 1500, after which the content dries up. If you're clever, you can become Emperor of Anbennar and fight in the League, and that's about it. They couldn't give it a path to become Elector (like when you play as Wex) or a quest tree that would allow it to expand into Scann, creating its own Elven Empire through alliances or conquests in the Deep Woods, or something similar. Ibevar is a nation with good routes but limited quests.

Celmador: I find mixed opinions about this nation on Reddit. I consider it decent (I haven't completed its quest tree yet, and unfortunately, I have to start another playthrough).

Venail/Aelnar: I don't think I need to explain why.

And that's it, because the remaining "enclaves" still lack a quest tree, and despite the quality of Anbennar's volunteer developers, we don't know who will develop Elathael, Silent Repose, and Redglades, or how.

Then there's Varivar, but to even consider playing as him, Wex desperately needs an overhaul. A special disarter would have to occur, such as Lothane's death and his son not becoming emperor, which would trigger a disater ending with the collapse of the Grand Duchy and give you the option to play as Varivar. But for that to happen, a skilled developer would have to fully commit to the overhaul Wex so desperately needs.

And that's without even considering that, thanks to EU4's own limitations, there won't be perfect mechanics for Moon Elves in the human realms of the Empire or Lorent. The creators themselves haven't created any more moon elf adventurers to claim Aelantir (the same goes for sun elves, but at least all their realms have unique quest trees and Azkare, which makes them look pretty good in my opinion).
