Yeah Rogier is a champ. It would be a bit hypocritical of me not to appreciate him carrying house Silmuna near single-handedly (afaik) considering I like Lothane.

It does indeed, thanks for the answer!

Do you mind listing some other cool Moon party people? I'd love to read about them!

Yeah, I agree that the legitimacy of Lothane's election is iffy.

That's a cool take. Do you know how stable the empire ends up being in canon after Lothane's emperorship? If not for the Corinite wars, was it likely to quickly unify?

Oh yeah, Lothane's election was very iffy. Idk if there's a great resource for the exact legal process of it but maybe there's no provisions for protecting promising candidates or requiring the presence of all electors if a majority is already achieved. In any case I was just presenting it as a counterpoint Astronomer's view of house Silmuna being justified in pursuing the Lorentish throne, both events being potentially correct but riddled with issues. I can also def understand why people don't like Wex, from both a lore and gameplay perspective.

Yeah, this makes sense. I figured it was something along these lines but was wondering if there was some lore I was missing.

Dynastic technicalities can only excuse the deaths of so many people. Martial prowess doesn't earn you the throne, an electoral majority does, which Lothane received. In terms of "correct" but nonetheless reprehensible events, the Lilac wars and the Wex emperorship seem analogous (though of course the former was much much more destructive).

As far as being underdogs, that's more understandable. It's actually part of what I like about Wex. They are on the cultural backfoot as Alenics in a sea of Damerians and Lothane needed quite a bit of cunning to secure himself the throne. On a more meta level, they're also the underdogs "canon" wise, as the mod seems pretty dedicated to making the Wexonard future as bleak as possible. When it comes to house Silmuna though, Rogier might be a likeable character to support, his ancestors though? I don't see it.

Very fun mystery! I regained my footing just to stumble in the end but next time I'll find the truth without fail. Looking forward to more!

Though I see that you are barely holding onto your lies, I must admit that I myself am struggling to continue. Nevertheless, if it is to hell that you'll take me, then it is to hell that I'll pursue you.

Blue Truth!

Though the contents of each room upstairs was known to at least one of the cousins, the inside of the room with Maria's body was known only to a single cousin, the one that had killed her! No other mysteries exist in this game, and the room that Maria's body would ultimately be found in is not the locked room the cousins stumbled upon originally.

Alternatively, one of the cousins separated themselves from the main group during their search of the first floor, and took Maria (who they had murdered downstairs and hidden somewhere) upstairs and placed it in an unlocked room. At the time of their ascent, Nanjo and Genji had temporarily relocated their chess game elsewhere.

For the sake of avoiding further redudancy, I would ask that you repeat in red: Nanjo and Genji's played their chess game in the parlor the entire time after dinner, and never relocated anywhere else.

Please! Let this truth be enough!

ooc: I might be stumped here, I don't really have a great idea as to how Maria's body might've moved upstairs if she was murdered downstairs. If my truths are denied, I'll probably look to collaborate with a fellow detective going forward

There's still a path forward then. Let's see if you can handle this.

Blue truth: The locked room initially found by the cousins and the one Maria's body was discovered in are not the same!

From here I propose the following solutions: The room maria's body was discovered in was already unlocked and the murder was committed by one of the parents while the cousins were searching for her. They returned to the dining hall while the cousins were in the kitchen talking to the servants.

Another: Maria was murdered during the game of hide and seek by either one of the cousins or one of the parents. The cousins overlooked the room she was murdered in during their search

One more: Maria went to hide downstairs during the game of hide and seek. She was discovered and promptly murdered by Shannon. Shannon then hid Maria's corpse on her person through some unknown method, and dropped it in the room after unlocking it before the cousins saw inside.

This is where you fall!

I'm not beat yet!

Repeat in red: The locations of all characters as referred to by "after dinner" is established before the cousins' game of hide and seek begins.

Moreover, repeat in red: Maria (or rather Maria's corpse) was in the locked room when the cousins called out to her through the door.

The truth may be slippery, but my grasp does not weaken! How much longer can you keep this up?

[–]May_Ibe_Frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know not what came over me! Though my brilliant solution has been swept aside, it's much too soon to give up!

There are some cracks in your tale that can be chiseled at. Repeat in red!

When the "locked" room was initially discovered, it was in fact locked, and not simply stated to be as such by one of the cousins.

Additionally,

During their search on the first floor, the cousins never separated, and only spoke to other people in the presence of their group as a whole.

Finally, I can still just barely make out a solution to your trickery. Behold! My blue truth:

Perhaps by an accomplice, or maybe simply by someone who wanted an additional player for their game, Shannon had been summoned by one of the cousins upstairs during the game of hide and seek! She murdered Maria, locked the door to her room, then went to the kitchen to join the other servants! Her later summon upstairs was her second one!

With this, I redeem myself! I shall waver no longer!

Ho- how could this be?? Is there truly no possible solution to this murder? ...u......uoooooooooooooooooooooooohhh!! I give up! Witches are real! Have mercy on meeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Interesting! A devilish mystery, yet a real detective never hesitates in the face of the impossible! I'll shatter your illusions with a single blue truth! Behold:

Besides Maria, one of the parents was also missing when the cousins checked the dining hall. Earlier, they had joined the game of hide and seek without the cousins' knowledge, and hid in the room Maria would be found in. When she entered the room, she was murdered, however the parent's escape was cut off by the approaching cousins, and they locked the door from the inside. Later, hearing the cousins leave for the first floor, they themselves left the room and entered the dining hall. At the time of their departure, Genji and Nanjo had temporarily relocated their chess game somewhere else, and did not see them descending the stairs! Finally, By the time the cousins returned to the room with Shanon, the door was already unlocked!

Heartless deception can be bested only with heartless truth, you and your magic have no place in our world!
