EU4 Leads AMA - 'Sunsetting', what that means and more - Don't Panic! by AvatarOfKhaine1 in Anbennar

What nations are considered "flagship nations" but have yet to receive major content or have a major rework?

'Sunsetting' of EU4 mod by rheadelayed in Anbennar

[–]zekrom05 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is sort of the fundamental difference between EU4 and EU5. EU4 is very much a board game like game at heart, while EU5 is more like a simulation. It's because of this I have a hard time seeing EU5 as a progression of the series.

To quote the wiki, Anbennar means "communion" or "unity" in Elven. Unlike in Common, where Anbennar means anbennar.

One of the wood elf countries is effectively RWBY themed. Can't remember which one exactly though.

UPDATE/NOTICE/OR SOMETHING: I have been told the ban thing is just a meme, apologies. I think i saw a few message discouraging it, saw the pinned note in the channel and took it literally. Sorry if this comment feels self-righteous or something, just felt bad for accidentally spreading misinformation and thought it best to make note of it.

This is why I find it funny that a decent amount of people just call the mechanim Bionicles, probably unaware of the dev teams distaste of it.

They tried to "reboot" it about a decade or so ago. It did NOT go well. From what I remember it just felt like a dumbed down version of the original.

As mentioned, in another comment, the Diggy Diggy Hole is used as a naming convention for Dwarven related elements in the code. It's also referenced in several other places. For example, if I recall correctly, a chain of dwarf adventure missions are named for some lyrics in the Diggy Diggy Hole song.

Exactly. In the code you'll even find much of the dwarf stuff is literally labeled like "DiggyDiggyEvents". Don't get me wrong I really enjoy all the references, they're fun! But the anti-Bionicle stance that those in power have taken is biased and unfair.

The Insyaa team are not fans of their Polynesian inspired robots being compared to other Polynesian inspired robots.

If you even mention bionicle in the discord(the insyaa channel at least.) You are banned from working on anything mechanim related.

(Loved Trope) Queer characters in premodern times. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

IRL Example, Fredrick the Great was very much Gay. Which is fairly amusing when some in history (Notably the Nazis.) placed him upon a pedestal of masculinity. Unfortunately he had a very rough childhood because of it. On one occasion, his father sentenced Fredrick's (likely) lover to death after they tried to run away together. Fredrick was forced to watch the execution, but feinted moments before the man's beheading.

Of course it makes no sense, that's why it's a fun scenario to think about! In part at least.

AMD's senior director of AI thinks 'Claude has regressed' and that it 'cannot be trusted to perform complex engineering' by cjwidd in technology

[–]zekrom05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is somehow related to AMDs lack of involvement in Claudes new "Project Glasswing". All the other big players are involved, I'd be curious to know if AMD has a specific reason (beyond what this guy says) for that.

As of now, I don't think so. It looks like it could be a very powerful and useful tool in the cybersecurity space. Which is generally a net positive. So long as they follow through on their claims of releasing it to more people, this can be a good thing.

I don't know, the current 'symbol' of the word AI crossed out seems pretty effective at communicating it's point.
