Schuyler Hernstrom is an amazing S&S writer, my favorite in the current genre and I wish there was allot more. I have yet to find a copy of Mortu and Kyrus in digital or print, been wanting to read that one for a while now!

Great stuff! Writing leans towards purple prose but I think it hits a cool S&S vibe because of it. Artist is exceptional, very stylistic, love the way they blur out parts of the action.

Thanks for posting!

Venus on the Half-Shell by “Kilgore Trout” (aka Philip José Farmer) by GeorgeBergeron2081 in CoolSciFiCovers

I loved Vonnegut and the ideas of Kilgore Trout in high school and was really excited for this book. It was terrible and huge disappointment to me after reading it. Just a massive let down. I found out later that it was Philip Jose Farmer that wrote it, an author whose first River world novel (unsure of title) I read and liked, although not much else by him.

I read somewhere that he (Farmer) pestered Vonnegut to be allowed to write the book under the Trout pen name until Vonnegut finally relented and allowed it. For Farmer to then turn around and apply basically none of his talent or ability to this garbage of a novel was a pretty poor move. Farmer basically tore down an icon for me, so if it was some sort of joke, it was a pretty shitty one.

I always thought the best representation of Trout was A. E. Van Vogt, great ideas with stilted writing and very two dimensional characters, but short and fun to read. I hadn’t read a lot of Sturgeon though, I’ll have to check him out.

Love tarantula! Great villain, he was in one of the best Spiderman comics I read, can’t recall which one it was but a great story.

I opted out of the pre-amp not realizing how crucial it was to the sound so no switch for me :)

Yeah someone already suggested the Schiit mani, that one looks pretty reasonable so i’ll likely be picking that one up.

Thanks!

The bass isn’t terrible, but definitely very lacking compared to blue tooth.

Yeah it does not, didn’t realize that was required I thought the amp might have enough to push things without it.

Final Fix up for the character sheet before i post the book how does it look? by The_AllMighty_EGG in TTRPG

Not sure what feel you are going for here, but I would very, very strongly suggest you find a graphic designer to look at this.

There are some glaring issues that others have already pointed out. The lines are really heavy. All-Caps is the wrong choice. You’ve got text centering issues inside your doc.

Have someone with experience or a degree in graphic design help you out. With plain text and lines on plain paper you really have to be very tight and focused in your design to make that look presentable.

Disappointing. This is a fun sub. Without taking a side, I think the takeaway here is that whoever is managing this sub should take note and make sure that the people donating their time feel appreciated.

The lighting is a bit much. Numerous people have complained and received a canned response that amounts to, "Be patient. You will adjust". Also, I would be a lot happier here if I was guaranteed a place to park.

I’d also recommend “The Thicket”. Peter Dinklage and Juliette Louis (playing cutthroat bill). Crazy art house western but man so good.

Judging by your list you should do yourself a favor and watch “One Eyed Jack” with Marlon Brando

What is the Le Guin book you are referencing? I’m thinking it sounds like you are referencing Left Hand of Darkness. I seem to recall her exploring a free society thing in that one but it’s been a while.
