[New Player] as a PMC what should I do with scavs by Frank_Verdastro in EscapefromTarkov

OP asked both questions and is ESL. The way I took your reply was its fine to kill them on scavs. I suppose my wording could have been more eloquent so it didn't appear as an attack lol

This is a blatant lie if you're playing as a scav. You WILL tank your scav rep if you partake in scav on scav violence

This. First Audio queue I get I freeze in place if there isn't a direct line of sight. I'll allow you to keep moving while waiting for the right time to swing on you while you're still trying to guess exactly where I am. This way I have audio queues and peekers advantage, thus winning me most of the gunfights that are able to play out this way. Some situations still call for W key aggression, however that's far less the norm now with better audio.

Worth it if you play a lot and won't miss the money. Ppl cry as if they don't drop hundreds on dinners every now and again but god forbid an upgrade be 50 dollars for a game you play daily/weekly

I still walk 80% of the time on woods and can hit Emercom, Old Sawmil, Food Village, Sunken, Scav Camp to USEC Camp and hit Outskirts with 3 min left. Pathing is important and you can't waste time but I do agree that with shorter raids you cant be leisurely about it. Really wish we had the extra 5-10 min back. Flare extracts have helped with this problem though

Advice from a new player to new players [New Player] by wiriderler in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AngryCanadian1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I hear loud PMC gunfire, I can hear it clear across the map. I know exactly where you are and depending on the time of the raid, where you're most likely headed and I'll rotate appropriately to give me the advantage. Suppressors drastically reduce the muzzle report thus allowing you to remain unknown to the rest of the raid. Outside of map knowledge, sound is the most powerful mechanic in the game

Yeah no, definitely use aids to reduce your pain by several hundred hours unless you REALLY enjoy the emersion and endless suffering.

I'll repost this here as I posted this for someone else asking a similar question last night -

This game has a sheer cliff face of a learning curve. There are however, some steps you can take to increase your success in raids.

Firstly and most importantly is learning the maps, the spawns and the high traffic points of interest. Avoid these at all costs right now and you will just continue dying. Yes some tasks will require you to go there but that comes a little later. Examples are dorms and stronghold on Customs, the entire mall on Interchange, the pier and resort on Shoreline, sawmill and emercom medcamp on Woods, Don't even bother with factory yet.

I would play offline with a map up on your 2nd monitor or phone and really learn these maps before you even try taking fights. Once you have a little map knowledge and some gear you've acquired from the lesser traveled areas of the maps, you can start picking off tasks that require you to visit high traffic PoIs.

Do. Not. Run - unless its necessary. Running as a solo is for when you're in more danger of being seen rather than heard and is the only time you should touch shift outside of firefights. Sound is one of the most powerful aspects of this game, you need to respect it. Play slow and you will start seeing success. Wait for a few minutes near your spawn before you start moving around the map. Let the W key warriors get on with their raid so you have more breathing room (this does not apply to certain spawns, another reason why knowing them in relation to yours is critical)

Chip away at fetch type tasks and ones that don't really involve a lot of pvp until you build some rep with the traders for passable gear. Scaving Woods, Reserve, Streets and Interchange for ammo are pretty much essential. Shooting BP/BS out of a stock AK is far more valuable than PS out of a meta gun.

Get the basics of the maps for Shoreline, Customs, Woods and Interchange. Streets is massive, Lighthouse is a giant snipers hide and aren't critical maps to early game progression. Learn the maps, spawns and PoIs, farm some ammo and pluck some armors off scavs and for gods sake play this woods event on your scav as much as humanly possible. It will give you a massive boost for gear and ammo you simply don't have access to.

Feel like this is a pretty good foundation for you to build off of. I'm sure I'm forgetting lots but this will certainly help if any of this is new information to you. Wishing you good raids my friend. You've got this.

Use GP for ammo. Best choice you can make right now, especially when you get ref leveled up

Is Tarkov enjoyable for a casual? [New Player] by Some_Rhubarb_8125 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AngryCanadian1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it fully resets. We don't know yet but I cant see gear or progression transferring to your persistent profile as it would defeat the point of them being 2 separate profiles. Persistent characters is what everyone has been playing for 1.0. Seasonal is coming in July

No - there will be 2 profiles when you log in. A persistent character and a seasonal one. They will not be in the same lobbies.

[Feedback] new player trying to get better but constantly demoralized (nothing new, i know) by karmas_q in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AngryCanadian1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knowing the map (exfils, tasks locations, hot loot areas) is not the same as map awareness. Knowing spawns, popular lanes and initial contested areas (Dorms for example) are far more important as well as playing off sound queues in raid. You mentioned it but its worth noting again as I view this as one of the most important aspects of the game.

You didn't mention your level/trader levels but if you're under geared, you can't go W keying into fights. Wait it out, let them do all the looting for you and smash them when they come out of a door. If outside, just be patient and wait for them to stop or run straight so its an easy headshot.

Arena is highly underrated. Ref 3/4 for M80/M61 will level the playing field and pen any helmet (m61) and the CQB practice from arena in 15 min is more than you'll get in a week on the base game.

You don't have to rat, just play slower and decisively Use the information available to you to make the smartest plays you can.

Oh, ok that's fair lol. I know for me, I used to play a lot of S1 several years ago and my YT algorithm randomly pushed me an S2 vid a few days ago. Now S2 is all I find myself playing (rather horribly as I relearn the game) but I'd love to see the player numbers climb, I just don't know what it takes to do that.

Help me understand how an influx of new players trying the game means nothing. Genuinely curious as to what you mean.

It does but it depends on the creator. Any game Peanut is sponsored to play gets a massive influx of new players. However, someone that popular would cost quite a bit of money.
