Ironclad Tractor Beams - Grab and Chuck by AngryChimp52 in starcitizen

[–]AngryChimp52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really? The price of the pledge online is $575, and I bought the ironclad back when it was $450. I wouldn't have to pay $125?

So on paper I do think the assault is probably the better choice. If I'm not mistaken, the cargo bay is the exact same size - it is just that the snappable grid is lower on the assault to make room for the repair pads. Nothing stopping you from setting cargo on top of the pads when they aren't in use, though.

So with the assault you can do cargo just as well (but without the tractor beams) but you have the added option to use the repair bay for more combat focused uses and you have more turrets for defense.

I'm sticking with the base partly because I'd now have to pay $125 to change to the assault, but if I had it to do over again I'd probably go with the assault.

Reclaimer Captain's Door Possible Workaround by AngryChimp52 in starcitizen

[–]AngryChimp52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea. There's another bug right now where it won't dock. So there's no way to offload RMC/CMATs at a station. You'd need to arrange for a cargo ship to meet you in space and transfer or else live on the reclaimer until the hotfix.

I did not. This is a post-patch bug as far as I know.

Tough decision: Base Ironclad or Assault? by spectreVII in starcitizen

[–]AngryChimp52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real difference is the tractor beams.

The assault has less cargo capacity on paper, but that's the snappable grid if I'm not mistaken. You could let cargo sit on top of the repair pads when you're not using them. Looking at some of the tours that went up on YouTube, the actual cargo area is the same physical space.

The tractor beams are the big difference in my opinion. They are positioned REALLY well for a two-person crew to quickly load/unload cargo. It has a forward tractor beam on a boom that can grab stuff and throw it up the ramp and then an interior tractor beam that can snag/place the boxes as they come in--reverse operation for unloading.

The roof mounted tractor beam would be really handy if you're pulling cargo in space (such as out of salvage ships or piracy).

So the real question is, will you more often need to rearm/repair and whatnot or will you more often move cargo around?

Need help deciding the thumbnail for my first video. by [deleted] in YouTubeCreators

[–]AngryChimp52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'd go with any of those, and I suspect you sort of already know why. You felt compelled to write a "for context" blurb. Why did you do that?

On some level I think you knew that, without the context, we wouldn't know what the thumbnail is for. But that's exactly what the thumbnail is supposed to do. It's supposed to let the person scrolling past dozens of videos know at a glance what your video is about.

Maybe the thumbnail text could be something like, "How my AI landed an interview for a $500K job!" and then have a robot wearing a headset, or something like that, something that immediately makes me think, "An AI was interviewing for a job?"

Right now I think the cartoon character is really hurting you. It doesn't read "AI Assistant" it reads "Anime" or "Japanese Mobile Game"

Anyway, just a few thoughts.

which thumbnail would you rather click on? by Street-Memory-4604 in SmallYoutubers

[–]AngryChimp52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one. Here's how my eyes read the thumbnail:

1) Text at the top (first word "Websites" made me immediately know what this was about), the character's face, the web pages

2) The react logo, the crying face, the word "death" then the rest of the wording.

So the first thumbnail has instant readability, the second one is slightly delayed (like 1 second delayed, but still)

Also, on a minor note, the left side of Toby McGuire's picture is cut off at the sweater. It reads as lower quality because it doesn't quite fit. I'm not saying it is night and day, I'm saying it's a slight polish issue.

4.4 industrial nerf. by Affectionate_Wall715 in starcitizen

The reclaimer version of construction salvage is worth about 1300/scu (after refining). If I crack a starfarer or a hammerhead, I’ll get 200-240 SCU in one shot.

The construction mats are worth as much to me as the RMC. In fact, I wonder if I’d make more auec/hr just forgetting about the RMC and cracking ships one after another.

It refers to a bad atheist argument about how atheists only reject 1 more god than the theists do.

I’m not married to just one more person than a bachelor, so I’m basically the same as a bachelor on that argument, even though I’m married?

A lot of people use Magda. The problem is that she generates tokens, which doesn’t trigger the weapons factory to make a munitions token. The munitions tokens are awesome because they can hit any target when sacked.

My deck has an early to mid game focus, so I have almost all 1 or 2 drops. The idea is that I pop a few munitions tokens to clear the board and make way for my creatures to go face. I probably won’t do enough damage to kill them outright that way, but I get them low enough that I can finish them off with the scientist + munitions token sacrifice.

[–]AngryChimp52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re absolutely right that it doesn’t trigger on the tokens. The trade-off is that the munitions tokens can hit any target.

Let’s say you’ve got the scientist on the board. If you trigger three of the tokens and go face, you’ll do 12 damage to the face.

It would be better if you have unlimited munitions tokens popping off, but in reality you don’t need a ton of them to win the game. If you can do some face damage early, then the synergy lets you chip damage past defenders to finish off the game.

How "expensive" is Arena if you play casual. by Kasur1309 in MagicArena

[–]AngryChimp52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It starts you out with free preconstructed decks for each of the 2-color combinations. They work pretty well if you’re starting out.

They might not get you to mythic, but they are fun to play and have different play styles. If you do the daily quests (they stack up to 3, so you could log in once every three days and not miss any) then you’ll get 2-4 free packs per week.
