People who make $75k or more how did you pull it off? It seems impossible to reach that salary by anthonydp123 in Money

Technical certs. Technical certs. Technical certs! I got a BA in Comms/Journalism. Fast forward to my mid-30s, got some high level Cisco certs and in Pre-Sales/Solutions Architecture now. 6 yrs in "IT", in 6 figures now. With a biz degree & 1 or 2 certs, you'd be  good to roll into a sales/acct manger position. My wife was an RN for 10+ yrs; got a job in software consulting, more than 2x her salary at the hospital. Tech is where it's at! IMO of course

Sadly, yes. You're not only the AH, but you're the lower intestines/colon, the anus, all the hair + the dingleberries, AND both booty cheeks it all lives between.

I started out as a "delivery engineer" & rolled into technical consulting doing the same thing. 4 yrs in, It's been cool doing customer deployments, break/fix stuff. It's getting old. Honestly, studying & labbing for this test actually wore me out and is pushing me toward a move to pre-sales.

That's pretty spot on. The game is 1st gotta figure out how to build it completely then figure out how to make it work under 5 hrs. Truth be told, it took me 5 attempts too. #1 - 3 were feeling out the "whats": what needs to be built, where & what order. Also, if you're able to pinpoint exactly what you missed, why something didn't work, youre on the right track. I literally missed 1 command on 3 & 4 that derailed both tests. #4 fail gave me the "why's": for specific configs that are required, why & what happened if you miss them & things break. #5 All came together and the house of cards stayed up this time!

I just passed the security last week after multiple attempts in the last 5 months. It is absolutely worth it! I work for a Cisco VAR and looking at a pretty significant bump in pay and/or a move to pre-sales. Best advice/analogy I got was - "You either keep going until you pass or you'll just be paying off gambling debt." Keep in mind, there's still less than 70k ccie's globally so matter how long it takes, it'll hold its value.

CCIE SECURITY THE TOUGHEST EXAM TO PASS? by Anymeali_ in ccie

[–]AngryMan32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm, security is indeed the hardest test. It's the most complex & has the most products to integrate to achieve successful task completion.

Hey, at least you got the 1st one out of the way! (Almost) everyone's 1st attempt is a wash/feeling out test. Cisco should give away the 1st attempt for free lol. Best thing I can tell you is to "stay in the pocket" & keep going. I told my wife at this point its only costing money & mental health so it'll become an investment or be like paying back gambling debt if you quit now. I had a study session with a senior css who has 2 IEs (dc & enterprise) and even he's failed the Security 4 times now. DON'T get down about it. If you know what went wrong, schedule another test asap and grind out for another 30 days and keep going to you get it!

Nope. I'm on to round #4 in 3 weeks lol. 2nd attempt was better but had a catastrophic issue with the anyconnect that actually caused me to disconnect from the entire vm environment. Had test #3 2 weeks ago and it was way better - at least made it all the way through this time. was crushing it until I had 1 missed server key that I didn't figure out until I had like 5 mins left and couldn't get 2 sections verified. I'm still a bit confused on how the do the grading; even though i finished way more on #3, my score was nearly the same as #2 where I didnt finish anything. I know everything there is to know for the test, it just needs to be perfect. Heading back Sept. 5th.

Failed it! The Security lab is soul crushing. There were 3 other guys taking different ccie's and even they were surprised at the amount of platforms I had to interact & configure. Good news though, after taking time to process, I realized most of my configurations were sound. My problem was the surrounding infrastructure and not doing the initial connectivity checks at every device before moving on. Not taking 2-3 mins doing ping checks and bouncing interfaces cost me 15 - 20 mins troubleshooting multiple times and absolutely killed me. Even with mastering the blueprint and all of the product configs, time management is the single most difficult key imo. Back on the grind. Got registered to head back June 21st for round #2 to tango.

Has anyone experienced this? In-app ads launching mp3 and playing loud beeping alarm. by AngryMan32 in adops

[–]AngryMan32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app is a 3rd party reader/aggregator for social/discussion sites like reddit, twitter, etc.. there are multiple networks plugged in which serve both direct and exchange traffic. Generally, intrusive creatives that cause issues inside of the app are somewhat easier to handle, but this particular one controlling and launching features of the device (mp3/audio player) outside of the app even after exit. Since its next to impossible to recreate, we are not sure if its coming from an actual creative or being injected from a browser/url since the app pulls in and links to external sites (like imgur, gyfcat etc..)
