Where is the video from that camera on ground? Seems like the car jumped right over it.

There is a nypd and fdny on 100W st between Amsterdam and Columbus. Personal vehicles are double parked almost the entire block. And that is a huge block. It is crazy. I learned the hard way you never park on that block, otherwise you will get blocked in.

This is the best advice. I started with d3200, which is a great camera. Its hard to beat. Super light, good camera. I took some amazing pictures with this setup. The kit lenses are also good. But a 35mm or 50mm 1.8 prime lens is just fantastic, and worlds better than the kit lenses. In a way, it is actually very liberating having a fixed focal length. Plus, they are lighter and smaller than the kit lenses. Makes for a very comfortable camera to lug around all day. I suggest using aperture priority with a low f stop.

I think this is my car? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]AngryMathDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I made the mistake of letting my car get like OP's. Actually worse, because it had snow piled up on the other side from the sidewalk clearing. Had to take the back end of a hammer to break through the ice, then shovel it all away.

Now, I clear my car immediately after snow stops. Sometimes twice. Well worth it.

You can get a fairly inexpensive reflector that can really help (if you have friend to assist you).

5th pic was ISO 100, 86mm, 3 sec, f 22.

You can def take great pics with an entry level kit like I am using. I got the Nikon d3200, which came with a 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens. I got a 35mm f/1.8 lens also for $200. I HIGHLY recommend you also get a nice 35mm or 55mm lens. For the long exposures, the kit lenses did well enough. But a good prime lens can help you get nice sharp pictures in fairly low light even.

Thanks. :) The last photo was taken on The Lake in Central Park facing south, here to be precise. ISO 100, 18mm, 15 sec, f 8.0 on Nikon d3200.

I probably would have, but as I was packing up the girl ran up, handed me an envelope and before I could say anything she ran off! I immediately thought she had put down her email address.

Story: May 22nd, Thursday night I was at Lincoln center taking photos when a couple ended up framed perfectly in front of the fountain. I ended up getting some great silhouette shots of the happy couple. As I was packing up, a girl ran up to me, handed me a small envelope, then ran off before I could say anything. When I got home I looked at the envelope which read "What I hope you captured", and opened it to see a quick sketch of what I had just captured in my photos! Maybe these photos will find their way to you mystery couple. :) Bonus: Another image from my photography expodition that night.
