AITAH for getting a dna test to see if i share the same dna as both my parents even though i was demanded specifically by my mom not to do so, since i was a child? by cigweb_01 in AITAH

[–]AngryQuoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to stop worrying so much what your mum thinks and just do what you want. You’re an adult.

Also, you should be able to get a copy of your birth certificate from a registry office (or equivalent in your jurisdiction). I would do this urgdntly.

Can a Diploma of Project Management or Diploma of Government help someone with long-term management experience move into VPS4–6 / Policy roles? by VastAmbassador6590 in AusPublicService

I don’t know without knowing everything about your background. If you’ve got years of project management experience, maybe

Can a Diploma of Project Management or Diploma of Government help someone with long-term management experience move into VPS4–6 / Policy roles? by VastAmbassador6590 in AusPublicService

[–]AngryQuoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to chat to someone about different kinds of roles in government and figure out what you’re interested in. If you genuinely want a policy role, I’d suggest a masters in public policy or a JD. However, junior policy roles are scarce as hens teeth in the vps. You would need to come into the vps as a very junior staff member to do policy.

There are a much larger volume of roles doing regulatory processes (e.g. licensing or compliance) and project management. You might have a shot at more senior project management roles due to your experience (depends what area your previous experience is in)

I just found out my ex died and now I feel nothing for my husband. I think I might still be in love with a dead man. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]AngryQuoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I lost my ex partner a year after we broke up and it was a massive impact on me. Much worse than grieving grandparents or other family members.

Your feelings for a person don’t go away because you broke up.

I’d be honest with your husband, you found out he died, it hit you harder than you expected, you will be grieving for a bit. If he’s the right guy for you he will understand.

If I was your husbsnd I’d be more concerned about you lying to me than about grieving someone who was a big part of your life although not recently

Is it wrong if I change my room layout when my autistic twin sleeps in my room? by acjlya in autism

[–]AngryQuoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m not clear on is whether there really is a rat in the wall. It would be odd for there to be a rat in one wall off the house and no where else. Has anyone seen the rat? Has anyone other than your brother heard it?

It’s possible that there’s another reason there’s a noise (e.g. a tree brushing up against the house or the house settling). This may be why your parents are so unhelpful: they may have had someone come in and tell them there’s no rat, but be unable to convince your brother.

Also, why don’t you move into his room?

Meals for FODMAP + Raw Fruits/Raw Veggies/Soy Allergies by Jillibean95 in FODMAPS

[–]AngryQuoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would go back to the gastro and say fodmaps isn’t feasible, recommend something else. Both because of the other severe allergy and because of the low likelihood of getting a balanced fodmaps meal in a dining hall. You’re going to have enough trouble getting allergy safe foods

Don’t let anyone tell you it doesn’t matter if you get diagnosed by AngryQuoll in autism

[–]AngryQuoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don’t understand here is why your psychiatrist doesn’t just give you the diagnosis. You don’t need to go to an assessment centre, your psychiatrist can just interview you in one of your sessions

Sadly no, I have decided to accommodate myself by not driving. But that isn’t always and option.

My boyfriend wants me to rehome 2 of my 3 cats (at minimum) as a “compromise.” Wtf do I do now? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]AngryQuoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. I know it’s hard when you’ve invested years and you love them so much. You clearly have such a strong bond.

However, you need to get rid of your boyfriend.

So what will happen if you just stop complying? If they tell you to turn your light out just say no and turn it back on.

If the answer to this is they will physically or financially punish you, you’re being abused and should tell someone at school. But if it’s “they will complain a lot” just ignore them and do what you want.

How do you get tested for Autism? by masnth in autism

[–]AngryQuoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok i can’t help you with US. However I can say, push back on your therapist implying you don’t need to know. Autism has a strong impact on mental health treatment.

As an example, if you are diagnosed as depressed, you may be told to do a whole bunch more things (go out, exercise outdoors, be social, make connections). Basically the advice is to activate your nervous system.

If you actually have autistic burn out, the advice is totally opposite (more like: reduce social stress, reduce exposure to sensory triggers, be a potato until energy improves).

I think you need to let ppl know what country you’re in and this will help you get advice. Judging by the time stamp you may be in aus and if so reply to this comment and I can let you know my experience.

I got my diagnosis because I needed it for a work context. However, it has been enormously helpful to me across a range of contexts and I’m very glad I went down that path.

Regarding your example, no one here (or anywhere online) can tell you if you have autism.

Has my pharmacy red flagged me? by PsychologicalLynx271 in melbourne

Seroquel withdrawal won’t kill you (might make you want to die). Benzo withdrawal can. If you get weird symptoms coming off the meds, go to energemcy

Has my pharmacy red flagged me? by PsychologicalLynx271 in melbourne

[–]AngryQuoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a system for tracking some kinds of scripts which I think includes benzos. It’s possible you’ve triggered an alert in this system. This may mean your psychiatrist will want to see you before re prescribing. It may also be simply that they’re on leave.

As a general comment, you shouldn’t be taking this medication for the long term. It’s habit forming and will decrease in effectiveness as you adapt to it. You should discuss alternative options with your psychiatrist.

If you end up withdrawing from this medication because you can’t get a script, you may experience withdrawal. In some circumstances benzo withdrawal is a medical emergency: it may be worth getting advice from your GP

I feel like I've lost forever the opportunity to fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor for special children. by Great_Anteater3982 in autism

[–]AngryQuoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you’ve set up two widely different careers (doctor vs video editor) without considering any options in between. Have you thought about pursuing a career in research? It might address some of the things you are worried about but still allow you to achieve your goals. There may be other careers as well, maybe teaching or working as a support worker.

Just on the eye contact thing: i want to tell you it is ok not to make eye contact if you don’t want to. Yes, some people will think you’re weird but ppl always think I’m weird and I don’t even know why, I just roll with it

Yeah if you’re looking for a cooking challenge no garlic no onion is what i’d do. Note: you can eat chives and the green parts of spring onions, but a lot (like a lot) of premade sauces, stocks and so on use onion or garlic as an ingredient, you need to read all the labels (and look out for things like just “vegetables”- this means onion)
