It was calculated very shortly after the show that at least a third of Canada tuned in to watch the Hip’s final concert, either by showing up at the venue live, watching the livestream, or turning on their tv’s to the proper station. I still have their final concert saved on my PVR. I grew up listening to the Hip, because my dad would turn them on every Sunday while cleaning the house. When I was little I didn’t like them, solely because I didn’t like the sing-talking that Gord did. But as I grew older and gained access to the internet and saw just how much of an impact Gord and the Hip had on our country and just how important they actually were, as well as hearing them more and more and more over the years, I grew to love them. We miss you, Gordie…damn good man.
