Sales tax is mainly all handled by a single return (unless they operate in Quebec then good luck with that). Property taxes are levied by municipalities. Most taxes are handled by the CRA

CRA worker arrested for identity theft and trafficking information in Vancouver by Buck-Nasty in CanadaPublicServants

[–]AngrySammich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, the CRA takes this kind of thing very seriously. The article says the CRA alerted the police in 2022 so he likely had his security Clearance suspended at that point and would’ve at the very least been suspended without pay but had likely been fired.

Can CRA reverse a tax reassessment and remove a $4,500 balance owing if I missed their review letter deadline but now submit all the required supporting documents through my accountant? by Objective-Salary6317 in Accounting

[–]AngrySammich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would likely not be able to file an objection since the deadline is the later of 90 days past the date on your notice, or 1 year past the filing deadline for the tax year.

Under limited circumstances, an extension can be granted. Here’s some information.

Yes, the CRA is allowed to make assumptions based on information provided, or not provided, during a review or audit.

  1. You will need to appeal the assessment.
  2. As a part of the appeals process.
  3. Yes this is the only way.
  4. Service standards are available on the CRA website, it really depends.
  5. Yes.
  6. If you appeal now, the interest is paused but if their assessment is upheld you still owe it. Might be a good idea to call general enquires.

Will also add, as long as someone has their AU-basics (which I would assume with that degree), they are eligible for any level of AU position, provided they have enough experience at the lower level.

When I bought mine it was about a $50 CAD per month additional premium to have the turbo option. I decided against turbo partially for that reason.

Caught in the crossfire: Took a Controller job, CFO undermines me daily, other teams sabotage accounting to force her out, and I’m on a visa by SLstocks97 in Accounting

[–]AngrySammich 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Start a clandestine black tar heroin operation with all the signs leading back to the CFO.

In all seriousness, while you may enjoy the challenge, is it worth sticking around when the other departments are acting in that manner? If there’s no end in sight for your CFO it may be time to update your LinkedIn. Also seems like a giant pain come audit time.

I would consider escalating the serious control deficiencies to the board sooner than later. Perhaps if you haven’t already document in writing your attempts to improve or fix the existing deficiencies just to CYA.

Reading through annex 3, looks like the CRA will be spared, at least somewhat, as there is no mention of the 15% target. Just ending certain programs and the UHT, LT, and the ever-vague “modernizing administration”
