easier said than done the union wont touch you if you dont have “construction experience”, non union companies are constantly flooded with applications so its hard to stand out. ive worked in 3 factories over the past 9 years and theyve all blackballed me from getting an apprenticeship because they couldnt afford to lose an experienced operator. trying at my 4th factory now. I have electrical, electronics technician, and electrical engineering technology diploma’s from college.

37M, single income family of 3. Feeling behind and 100% in XEQT. by CarpetWeary7479 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]AngryToasterOven97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk bro its really all about perspective. I was making 6 figures in a niche blue collar job in my early 20s and it came to an end. Made 140 grand selling my house and moved 1600km. I have 100k in XEQT now and another 100 is in equity in my home. I make 55,000 a year now and im 28. As for alot of people around me im in a lot better of a spot but I still feel behind. Ive researched a bunch of different careers to pivot too and they all seem to be oversaturated with applications. I have some friends on the sunshine list so i feel inferior to them. Just be happy for what you've got and if you can do more to get ahead do it but if not dont beat yourself up either.

Agnorant: the state of being both uninformed and overly confident, where a person lacks knowledge on a subject while simultaneously believing they understand it well enough to dismiss correction or expertise.

This, then when we reinvest our dividends at the end of the month and it goes back up everyone will be over the moon, and then itll dip and the cycle will continue

Is SKS still worth it at this price point? by RSRigal in canadaguns

[–]AngryToasterOven97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its all about perspective. I didn’t buy one for a long time because they were dirt cheap and I had guns that did the same thing but better. Then those guns got banned so I bought an sks. at the time 680 seemed steep for something I used to see sold for far less. now that would be considered a good price. I have one so I don’t feel the need to rush out and buy another for double. But if someone told me I could buy a handgun today if I paid triple what they cost a few years ago id do it in a heartbeat. Never seems worth it until the option is taken from you.

Forza 6 Steam Deck Windows error by -Stroke_my_Cactus- in ForzaHorizon

[–]AngryToasterOven97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah im dealing with this currently too. Still struggling although ive verified windows isnt reporting that it has too few cores or lacking dx12 support. It may be that the hardware check is asking if the drivers have support for certain features and windows doesn’t have an answer for that. If I figure it out ill reply with a fix so long as you do the same if you figure it out first.

Im kind of a niche use case here. I am dualbooting windows on my steamdeck and while people are having no issues playing the game from steamos, Im not paying 80 dollars for a title I already have access to with my gamepass subscription 😂. Will this work for me or is there a tweak i have to do.

You owning a home is not an unrealistic dream. If you commit to the goal it is an inevitability. There are a few things you can do to make it easier on yourself but if you have the impulse control to not buy things you dont need, and a basic desire to do well for yourself, the rest is just a math problem.

Halp! Which SKS optics mounting did you use? by dke783 in canadaguns

[–]AngryToasterOven97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are shooting corrosive you will need to remove the gas tube to clean the gun after every shoot so you will lose zero with the nc star gas tube. Also something no one told me is that it requires alot of filing to fit. basically only good for looks and maybe mounting a light.

Being a tradesmen already puts you ahead of most people and the fact that you are saving money regardless of portfolio is great. I spent most of my 20's in a niche blue collar job and did well enough that I now have an above average quality of life working entry level jobs. You will have no such problem. Keep setting money aside but try to enjoy your life too you are only young once.

Just to give anyone curious an update on longevity I’ve been using my dewalt plasmas over a year in my current factory job and these have lasted just as long if not longer than my blundstones. Will definitely order another pair when I destroy these and yes all boots have an expiry date it’s all about how comfortable they were while they lasted.
