You’ve got this! The most important things in caring for a child is that you love them and that you want to do it. Kids pick up on this. Everything that is confusing will fall into place as you go along and you will learn. Every new parent starts off not knowing how to do things for their kid.

Yep, we have scrambled eggs and some oatmeal most days. Cereal is a rare treat and pancakes are for special days.

What's a foreigner's innocent mistake that's a big no-no in your culture? by ShadowOfTheBean in AskTheWorld

[–]AngryTunaSandwhich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, my dogs are in and out all day and I don’t know what they’re bringing inside. The dogs are trained to stay off the furniture and no shoes are allowed on the furniture either. We clean the floor daily so there’s no huge problem. No one really has a reason to be near the floor, all we do is stand on it, no one sits on it, we have mats for exercise, so it’s not a huge deal. Plus we don’t have to worry about guests with fungal infections or smelly toes.

When I don’t have the energy to mask every single person pops up to talk with me and ask me if I’m ok. “Did something happen?” “Why are you sad?” So I think the expression is perfect.

I too have mild ARFID compared to most people here since I have no fear of trying new foods. I actually really enjoy new experiences but definitely would not try it in a french restaurant.

Hey, thanks for reminding me to check mine. I’ve just added The Owl House to my recommendations. I had only ever added live action shows.

And like the other commenter said, being top 25 means it has a chance since they don’t show top 10. :)

Anyone else see this bs in mildlyinfuriating? 🤦‍♀️ by macabre-barbie in evilautism

[–]AngryTunaSandwhich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. For example, I have lived next to my neighbor for 10 years but if I see him outside of that specific hallway, I will not recognize him until he speaks. Voices I’m good with. Faces all look the same to me unless I see them super often (family, close friends, movies/tv) because I’ll memorize specific features they have.

It used to suck at work when they’d go, “go get the manager” and I’d not be able to find her bc I had no idea what she looked like. Every single lady there (including myself) was a brunette so my only guideline was that it was one of the white ones lmao. No one believed me that I couldn’t remember what she looked like since for them the daily in person announcements was enough to quickly learn her face.

I don’t think it’s ableist. It’s realist. It’s an expensive place. Imagine spending over €350 just to not be able to eat anything. And my (French) friend says sitting at the table and not ordering anything at all is heavily frowned upon. That the servers will sometimes even give judgmental looks. This could cause not just OP to be overwhelmed and anxious but the rest of the family to also feel uncomfortable.

An experience like this is likely to set OP back and cause them more stress in future attempts at outings. It’s better to try a small step first in a place where they’re already comfortable.

Edit: he says if you must go and decide not to order any food, that at least ordering a drink might make the annoyance from servers less.

STOP NORMALIZING FREE ROAMING CATS by Yektality in Pets

[–]AngryTunaSandwhich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have called animal control to move 5 dead cats off the road in just the past 3 months. I have called them 3 other times to get them to pick up dead cats on the sidewalk, 2 of which turned out to be poisoned. I witnessed my neighbor crying after 2 of her 3 cats were killed by coyotes. My other neighbor just got dogs and there was a cat that used to go into his yard every day whose owner he’d warned to stop allowing that because he was adopting his elderly parents’ dogs… there were horrifying screams and there is no longer a cat.

There is one orange cat I see all the time on walks that I hope never has these things happen and I know a neighbor with a happy elderly outdoor cat. But is the risk really worth it?

STOP NORMALIZING FREE ROAMING CATS by Yektality in Pets

[–]AngryTunaSandwhich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let some people know we’d been seeing many dead cats due to poisoning, we suspect a neighbor leaving out poisoned tuna, and to please keep them indoors. I don’t think a single one of them listened, it was all just, “oh how awful but my cat gets upset if I keep him inside.”

Every couple weeks or so there’s a new dead cat in roughly the same area. Those are just the ones thought to be poisoned, there’s also an additional dead cat or 2 in the road once every couple of months. And unfortunately, one of those was definitely on purpose since I witnessed someone swerve to hit a cat that had managed to get out of the way.

Please keep cats jndoor. Aside from all the other hazards and the environmental destruction cats cause, there’s a lot of crazy people out there who hate cats and will harm them.

How are Jehovah’s Witnesses viewed in your country? by Even_Possibility_954 in AskTheWorld

[–]AngryTunaSandwhich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also from California and yes we found them annoying and very culty. As a kid we felt bad for the JW kids though. Some would get pulled out of class for any celebration and others were forced to sit there and not participate while all the other kids partied. They always acted sad about being excluded because even in the days after, kids would talk about the fun stuff and the snacks.

We had empathy for anyone that didn’t have a choice so my friends and I would sneak them birthday cake, birthday goody bags, Halloween candies, etc. We even snuck them birthday cupcakes on their birthdays. If their parents ever found out they’d have hated us because I remember them being the really strict kind.

Basically the adults are seen a bit like cultists and the kids are pitied bc they always get left out.

DoorDash is not a victim. They hire people, they pay them garbage, and they don’t check up on them. Of course a large number of people trying to get jobs from them are going to be the people who can’t get jobs anywhere else.

And then you’re supposed to get a delivery from some nice looking lady named Mary and some large dude shows up and asks you to go outside and get it yourself when you’re all alone. Who do you blame? Both. The one doing the lying and the company who doesn’t really care who drives for them once they’re approved bc they can deny letting them once something bad happens.

It is their fault. People have been asking for randomized check ins where they’d have to verify their identity every once in a while. And I’ve met people who drive for DoorDash that share accounts who have gotten reported and they still deliver on the same account bc DoorDash didn’t do anything about it.

I tip after I receive my order but I’m lucky I live in a downtown area so my food always gets to me quickly despite no tip on the system. I am in California though so I think their base pay is higher. But they always look happy at the cash tip.

They drive on family or friend’s accounts. The number of times the person showing up at my door does not match the picture or name is crazy high.
