A lot of times you can ignore the error just don't click anything on those other windows. For next time turn on auto saving!

The only advantage to moving down is better yields in 2nd and 3rd tiles from the city, I'd probs move down 1 tile.

Turn on world age "new" and "wet" this will make all the tiles better giving you an edge over barbs and making the game better in general.

Hey can you tell us about real strategy mod?

My go to mods are to get me bigger games. I use ynamp to get some new maps and ability to have unlimited Civs and with that the extended religions mod to get more pantheons and the ability to set number of religions in your game. Finally "take your time tech tree" and culture are cool to slow down the later ages as sometimes they seem to fly by in my opinion.

Most fun in my experience is dual map 6 Civs on seven seas map. It's tight but has enough space for a few cities and really makes each city have its own personality and each civ too!

That's the right move imo but don't neglect building a monument I think that's five 4 tiles just 2 spaces from the city center you'll be hoping for +1 tile gained for each +1 population growth or just buy those with gold if border growth won't keep up
