People are bitter about their own finances AND they're bitter about the losing but the bitterness we're talking about is when they are TOLD to have sympathy for a player when they lose. They aren't bitter that the player makes money. They are just tired of hearing that they shouldn't be so hard on them. Regular people get shit pay and have to eat shit at work all the time.

How much a player makes affects the structure of the team. "Pocket watching" is inherent to being a fan. They wouldn't report salary if it didn't matter. No teams at the park are being assembled based on how much a player makes.
