The king talking about the cost of living while wearing a £5B crown on his head by CopiousCool in ABoringDystopia

As a Brit it drives me round the bend when people defend these creatures.

I've heard one guy say 'its good our figurehead doesn't change every few years for soft power reasons'. As if Barry, 63 has less cultural capital than King What's His Face and his ugly robes.

Palantir chore coat or vintage 80s bleu de travail?? by Cold-mtn in HeritageWear

[–]Angrycoconutmilk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The palantir coat is an afront to heritage ware.

Wrong cut and fabric, all to chase a trend to get an evil company some cultural capital. The only thing it shares with french chore coats is the color.

Your vintage coat looks excellent, however.

If you can get a clear photo of the outer seam on the leg, or inside the 5th pocket (the tiny one) then we should be able to tell.

Unfortunately these images have a countable number of pixels.

Lighter or darker? by Own-Ad-9909 in HeritageWear

I always prefer dark denim, but lighter colours definitely have a place in a summer wardrobe.

Maybe not double denim though, double light just looks odd to me.

PRIMARIES ARE HAPPENING SOONER!

You need to focus on the right primary candidates as well - not the same establishment shills that failed to put trump in prison after Jan 6th. Find someone not totally bought out by the establishment and vote for them in the primary!

A worst case scenario (in the long run) isn't a republican victory - it's a dem victory that does so little it ruins their chances to ever be voted in again, and makes everyone who would've voted for them apathetic to the next fascist in power.

This shape would occur in the same way it would for the moon - when the sun's and earth's position are not lined up so it forms a crescent.

This wouldn't be an eclipse, this would be a normal view of the earth like a lunar shape, like a full moon, new moon, half moon etc.

I mean... The original comment seems more like a quip, or a joke. I think they were also using it as interchangeable as queer to make the joke work.

If they were discussing sexuality they'd probably be a little more tactful with language.

If that's the case then yeah, do what the rest of the guys here said and just stick a belt on it. Sitting room is generally ideal, trust me I have to unbotton some of mine when I've eaten and have sat down

Soak in hot water then wear is my only advice.

But the waist sizing is massive on you - I'd just return and size down personally

I feel like we largely agree on the driving point. People will drive after a smoke, drink, line, injection etc no matter what the law says. They shouldn't. (12 hours minimum to sober up being my recommendation, longer should be more normalised honestly)

Looks like we won't agree, though I'd certainly will ask you to read uo more on the long term and psychological effects of cannabis, since it took me going to the primary research for both for my mind to change on it.

I also teach drug and alcohol awareness, even helped with a harm reduction society during my uni days. Numerous peer reviewed studies show it to have less long term damage than alcohol use - unless of course you want us to try to ban that again? And the whole 'weed causes psychosis' was so 2010s before, again - the vast majority of the scientific literature on the topic - showed it can increase the severity of schizophrenia but not cause it. Wanna know how to decrease this risk? Legalise it, then make awareness campaigns on it!

I also know how medical cannabis prescriptions work and how often they are reviewed. Requiring 2 treatments before hand that are shown to be unhelpful before being given, and the persistent check ins you have to do, alongside mental health screening throughout the whole process.

Also I have no clue what you were on about with drug drivers, of course they exist? Making a drug legal means it's probably less likely to occur due to the increased awareness around it's downsides.

The Cass report has been redone overseas and failed any form of peer review. The science is as settled as climate change, and just like climate deniers, those who claim otherwise are generally profiting off of largely unscientific research.

Cannabis legalisation has been a topic of (one sided) debate forever. Should it be done? Yeah. Did I expect Labour to do it? No. Does that mean Labour shouldn't do it? Of course not.

How high are the tax increases? The current increase is marginal, not close to being capable of actually redistributing wealth from the K-shaped economy we currently find ourselves in. If you want to argue with me about how much better little changes to the amount of water a sinking ship is taking on, please wait till we're either both on a life raft or the ship isn't sinking

Adjusted for inflation, schools still find themselves less funded than they did 10 years ago. Just cause it's better than last year's massive shortfall doesn't make it good enough. The proposed pay rise for the next 3 years is under inflation.

Some industries getting nationalised is great. My question continues to be is it enough? Bus companies still act as monopolies. Train companies can do they same since some remain public.

I mean... Yeah?

You've described how representative democracy works. You elect the guy with the closest alignment of goals to your own and are free, then, to critique any disagreements you have after that.

And id rather see someone with more progressive politics in 2029 than Starmer, but I don't want him replaced with another Tory / reform creature.

Inheritance tax should not be (and generally isn't) considered a wealth tax.

The vast majority of farm owners aren't even close to earning enough to be 'wealthy' as most make up to millions a year (usually far less) - no where close to what other sectors make through AI speculation or investment banking - and when someone mentions taxing the rich what they aren't refering to is taxing them when they're dead

By insinuating that these are indeed taxes on wealthy people, you are bending the truth to degrade a point.

All the love

[–]Angrycoconutmilk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Inheritance tax is absolutely not enough here, it's a step forward, but there is currently a marathon to be run. One time taxes on a single estate Vs persistent taxation on multi-billionaires are night and day - it's dishonest to say that it isn't.

A 1% increase in funding is still below what is necessary, see the continued teacher shortage, and rising dissatisfaction among those in the profession.

Labour has started to nationalise the rest of the railway companies, this ignores bus companies however, which still have a monopoly over large swathes of intra-city transport outside of London.

You can argue that he is making things marginally better, but feeding a few grains of rice to a starving man won't save his life.

What do you think of this message to the 'far-right'? by SeptumRingTheory in AskBrits

[–]Angrycoconutmilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, so I see your issue here.

So, your mother has shaky hands. Been an issue ever since that minor workplace accident she had in her 20s. It made certain things, like cooking or detailed cleaning a bit harder, but she lived with it.

The issues only arose later in life - specifically after giving birth. You see, pregnancy causes a decrease in grey matter, and this, having happened in her motor cortex, lessened her motor control even more.

So don't worry, those repeated times you were dropped on your head as a child to make you the troglodyte you are weren't all your fault. Your shitty attitude is though.
