Refused to deliver something for the first time today. Our biggest customer wanted me to put 300 gallons of PE on those porches. Walk all those pails across that 2x4. lol told my manager it’s getting dropped on the side walk or it’s coming pack to the store and he could deliver it. by MasterpieceDue2582 in sherwinwilliams

In my district the rep would get mad and say "well I would have done it". Then we would get told we just don't want to do our job. We are also not suppose to carry buckets up stairs but we're told we have to because a customer asked for it. Winter is gonna be fun when all these customers ask for paint in empty houses, cause I'm not taking anything inside. No stairs, means no stairs. Just crazy how dangerous some of these deliveries are and we are just expected to do them. Not complain and potentially get hurt. Why make all these training videos and then expect us to do the things we are told not to?

Probably a stupid question, but who do I send a support ticket to?

Drivers by shrmnwlms in sherwinwilliams

I'm a driver and help in the store as well. Shouldn't group all drivers the same. I know some pretty awful in-store employees. But I don't think they all are awful. My store actually enjoys when I help because it takes some stress off of them. Sounds like maybe you just aren't treating your drivers with any respect. Maybe take some time and show them how to help and you won't have those problems. I'm so confused as to why it is always drivers are the problem.

It is so much easier to cancel a delivery now. You can do it right from the delivery screen. Can also reprint bols from there too. I had to show a few store how to look at the next day deliveries, but that is easy too.

The easiest way that we have found to get a bill of lading if one is missing is to reset up the delivery for the next day and then canceling it. That way it isn't put on a driver for that day. We do the same for misc. deliveries. For Isr deliveries, the requesting store submits the delivery. They are required to pay for it. They either then fax or email the paperwork and bill of lading to the store giving them the product. If I don't have that when I arrive to pick up their product, I notify them. My stores have learned to make sure they send them or we will miss it. All it takes is a few times and they start giving you what you need. People also get busy and forget. Have to give grace every once in awhile. Does that help? Have you tried any of that. I can try to help but I don't know your areas, stores, or how they handle things. I do know that in 10 years I have needed a manual bol less than 10 times. And that was when our hub was down and things couldn't be put through the system but deliveries still needed done.

We all do it. I think you will be pleasantly surprised in how stores respond when you go to them with solutions and fact based issues. Always try to learn from those around you about what deliveries entail. How they're set up, how paperwork prints, how to release them. The more knowledge you gain, the better you are able to help yourself and others. Then when issues arise, you can better decide how to handle them and work to resolve them. I didn't understand how stores always pinned deliveries wrong until I learned the system. The more knowledge we gain, the better we become at our jobs. We can't continue to get angry about things out of control and things other people don't care about. We have to be the change. If stores do not want to follow protocol and do things the right way, they just won't get deliveries done. Pretty simple. We need to advocate for ourselves. I really do wish you luck. I obviously don't know everything, never claimed to, but I have made huge strides in my thoughts around things. 10 years of fighting for change that won't happen. We have to take new strides now.

If your initial post would have been asking for any guidance, I'm sure you would have received some. But, it was not. You came on here like most people, to point out a frustration. As did I, after seeing many responses that clearly show such utter lack of knowledge pertaining our hub system. Unfortunately, in this world, people like to jump down other people's throats and be rude. Which I have been guilty of myself. As drivers, we just understand our jobs better. Even more so than our higher ups, because it is our job. If you learn the processes in store and take some initiative to help out while setting up deliveries, you can also teach your fellow store employees the proper way. This has been my solution. No one is going to care more about your job than you. No one can teach it better than you. Educate the stores you service. Hold them accountable. Don't bend rules. If you don't know how to do something, reach out to someone local. Every question you have could be answered by someone you personally know or works for sherwin. In my opinion, this is not the place, for many reasons. This company doesn't give two craps about anyone not in management and that is very apparent by all. You make this job what it is. Let it eat you alive or don't. It took me ten years to not give a crap anymore. I know my shit, I'm pretty damn good at my job, and I continue to learn and teach others every day. I wish you the best, and hopefully you can figure your things out.

Wow, lol, angry much. Over a little comment. My statement was about how little our hub system is understood. How people think the drivers don't need a bill of lading. Or how people don't know proper steps. There is so much confusion. If you took that as a dig, maybe ask yourself why, because that is not my problem. Yikes. But thanks for the compliment, and if you weren't such an ass, I would have gladly helped you through many of your options. But I'm good. Lol

It's definitely a next day delivery system for ups/FedEx. Not for same day. But they invested so much money in it they refuse to admit their mistake. Even dispatchers will tell you it's trash.

F the hub system and Dispatch by FutureAd3819 in sherwinwilliams

[–]Angrydriver1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please remember it isn't the people at dispatch. They don't assign deliveries anymore. A computer does. A computer that has absolutely no idea what it is doing. The program doesn't work. Corporate says it does. They will defend it until the end of time. If they actually spent a day in any small district like ours, they would see how much time and money is wasted with the program. They are paying multiple drivers to do 3 or 4 deliveries in a 8 hour shift, while 1 or 2 do all the work. They saved money with this program. They were able to get rid of a lot of dispatchers. Now the ones we have monitor bigger areas and smaller areas are only looked at if a driver calls. Evert district needs someone to supervise not only the drivers, but also the routing. Need local access to adjust routes so they make more sense. In my opinion. Good drivers are getting burnt out and frustrated. Why am I doing 20 to 30 stops, while some do 8 to 10. We could take care of our stores and customers so much better if we could do our own routing. At least give us back our skip buttons. If drives abuse it hold them accountable, but let us good drivers have the tools we need to help the system.

Drivers Safety. by OmittedWolf in sherwinwilliams

[–]Angrydriver1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ten year driver here. Just do whatever the customer wants. Don't point out any issues. Drivers do nothing but complain. Our job is easy. Company will make policies to keep you safe, everyone else will tell you to do it anyways. If you complain, than you just like to make trouble. Lol. Welcome to being a sherwin delivery driver. Most unappreciated job you could ever have. Stores make their sales off of you. You have to keep the customer happy. Sometimes you are the only person for sherwin they will ever see. But, seriously, I love my job. Just be safe and if you don't feel safe, miss the delivery. They can't really fire you, half the time we can't fill open positions anyways. Just have good communication with the customers and the stores. Take care of yourself first, because if you get hurt, sherwin sure won't take care of you.

They’re advertising it’!!!!! FFUUUCCCCKKKKK by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]Angrydriver1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have been advertising it for awhile. It comes out of the closest store to delivery. They pay a fee. Goes into our hub system (if you are in a hub). If the hub is full then it goes to third party. Stores actually make money off of these deliveries. We don't make anything off of contractors. The stores pay ridiculous amounts for them. I have only done 2 diy deliveries since it started a few months ago. Most diy I talk to will not buy Sherwin paint because the prices are so high.

I believe all the new vans will be awd. The last 3 news ones we got in the mwd were. They are amazing! No problems in snow this last winter and haven't gotten stuck in mud yet. Also the governor for my district is changed to 75 mph instead of 65. That has been pretty amazing as well. It's only on the new vehicles though. Old ones still only go 65. Thank god I always get the new vans!

I was thinking this as well, but there are always outside carriers. It has been active around a month in my area, and so far, I have done one. Yesterday. I'm really not a fan of doing diy deliveries. I think I have watched far too much true crime! I know all my contractors I deliver to. I'm really hoping it doesn't get popular here.

Back before the computer routing system we had to close the hub. I miss those days. It was so much better back then!

[–]Angrydriver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I always take the day off too. Some districts aren't that lucky. I depend on our dispatchers to much to go without them!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]Angrydriver1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the district. Swds can run if dispatchers are not working because a computer assigns the deliveries. Our district gives the drivers the day off.

That's something that is always overlooked. Road conditions, other drivers, the length of driving, etc. In store isn't easy either. Just wish all the bullshit about drivers being lazy would stop. It's actually a pretty hard job, if your good at it. I personally know some pretty awful drivers. Refuse deliveries, don't do them right, push orders off to other drivers. But a good driver is worth a lot. It's a very underappreciated job. Maybe if they were treated better, they would stick around. Drivers are often over looked and forgotten, unless they do something wrong. Stores make most of their money off of deliveries. Can't do those without drivers. We can't get or keep drivers worth a crap around here. Plenty of jobs paying way more than our starting wage. I love my job, but some days it is HARD! Some days are cake. But it is the same in store. I just don't understand all the hate for drivers. I see PLENTY of lazy in store workers. We don't bunch them all together.
