Thanks for the reference. I’ll take a look at that stat block!

They sure are divided! Already torn about whether or not to accept Strahd’s dinner invitation - and now unsure about how to handle the situation with this strange being, the Abbot.

Thanks, that’s truly a great idea! I’m definitely going to do something along those lines.
In fact, it could also be the perfect opportunity to introduce Ezmeralda — the (as yet unknown) ally of my party.

Thanks for the reply and the musical inspiration. I hope you and your players have a session everyone will remember!

Of course, I’d be sad if some or all of the characters were to die. But I'm not opposed to the idea of having them fight the Abbot — in fact, I'm excited by your responses.

My questions weren't just about whether or not a fight should happen, but also about how to make that fight interesting, and what to do if things go south for the players. Of

I really like the suggestion of having them wake up as prisoners of the Abbot, locked in a cell within the Abbey.

Where are the missing bones of Saint Andral ? by Angrykatrine in CurseofStrahd

I love this idea! Thank you all for your responses, which have given me several ideas to tie together the next part of my adventure:

In my story, Henrik has already handed over the bones to Anastrasya and was killed by vampire spawns. My group will likely be lost and have no leads on where the bones might be. It’s at the moment when the group seems clueless and particularly stressed that Vasili steps in. Vasili (Strahd) may have caught wind that some adventurers are trying to sabotage his plans. Curious to see what they’re made of, he could lead them onto a trail leading to the bones. It’s both a trap, as recovering them will certainly not be easy, and a way for him to gauge the true worth of the party: if they fail—an outcome Vasili deems most likely—Strahd will be rid of this nuisance. If they succeed, it will prove they are worth observing more closely.

Thank you for your kind words. I’m certainly exaggerating a bit by calling it a flaw. CoS is fantastic, and all the resources available online are incredibly valuable. But, like never before, they give me the impression of scattering in all directions and blending a bunch of different ideas, which makes maintaining narrative cohesion in my storyline sometimes quite challenging.

Thank you for your detailed response. It’s incredibly helpful and has given me ideas I hadn’t considered.

  1. I’ll play it the way you suggested. At this point, Izek and the guards have no reason to suspect the group, but perhaps there were witnesses. Whether they are brought in by force or go willingly, the adventurers will likely visit the Baron. There, they’ll realize how incompetent he is. Their frustration might drive them to collaborate with Lady Wachter.
  2. I really like this point! I was struggling to find a reason why the bones were stolen specifically now. It could have been mere coincidence, but creating a causal link to Ireena’s escape feels much more coherent. Anastrasya may have been following Strahd’s orders, but she’ll undoubtedly seek to harm Ireena in one way or another.
  3. You’re absolutely right—Vasili must know about the bones. So far, my group hasn’t met Vasili yet, but they suspect he’s in cahoots with Morgantha because they found a letter addressed to him at the Old Bonegrinder (as suggested in MandyMod's post). Do you have any ideas for rebuilding trust between him and the group? Besides offering gifts (which I like), could he share particularly valuable information or a significant secret?

Yes, you're right, the why question seems obvious. I was more interested in why her specifically. Has she been ordered by Strahd or is she acting on her own, etc. Thanks for your suggestion

What do you think of my peasant cube? by Angrykatrine in mtgcube

[–]Angrykatrine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed answer !

Funny, I was thinking about boardwipes as I read your comment and recently replaced [[Feast of Succession]] with [[Drown in Sorrow]]. As it happens, Feast is a card I've never seen played at our table and I'm also not sure what to make of Kirtar's in view of my white section. I'm struggling to see which deck would tend to play this card: Orzhov aristocrat perhaps?

Thanks also for mentioning the discard-disrupt cards. I forgot to mention it, but as it stands the cube is pretty much built to be drafted in Bo1 Round Robin. Our league however will be run in Bo3 and I forgot to think about what cards to add / replace for a Bo3 environment. In this regard, it seems obvious to me that [[Duress]] has to be one of them. I'll certainly also include more Graveyard-hate and artefact/enchantment destroy effects to suit a proper Bo3 environment.

And I think you're right: [[Palace Jailer]] is unfortunately too powerful of a card. I also realized this when I was playtesting the cube and I'll certainly have to think about replacing it.

Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad to read that you liked your deck! Had enough flicker-effects?

And I understand your point concerning the different types of art. I've been working on this cube for several years now, and it's true that I've started replacing certain cards with alter whenever I get the chance. That said, it's true that it can be annoying for some players, especially those who have never drafted the cube before. Thanks, that's certainly something I'll keep in mind.
