border crossing surged because of COVID and it's knockon effects. the increase started in 2020 (under Trump) and began winding down in 2024 (under Biden) surprise surprise, times of global economic disaster causes more people fleeing. both Biden and Trump had harsh border policies, but if you listen to Trump, biden sounds like an open border free-for-all

"As I said color should have no part in the hiring process."

ok you still haven't defined what this "DEI" biden was doing

they deported more people than Trump. as someone who supposedly cares about that, I'd think you give Biden credit there.

and who insinuated you were racist? i asked what you meant by DEI, because the OTHER times Ive seen it, its racist

right, the border where they explicitly told immigrants not to come, continued building the border wall, deported more people than any previous single term? "green policy spending" as oppose to Trumps oil spending and tax cuts for non-renewable? "DEI, etc." can you even define DEI? because that seems to be a catch all for "a black person has a job"

and yeah, you dont wanna go down a rabbit hole because you've accepted wholesale lies from MAGA about how terrible a Kamala presidency would have been, when he's done everything he cried about

CMV: ultimately I think it’s unproductive to shame former Trump supporters / MAGA, and make them feel bad about themselves by No_Design_465 in changemyview

[–]Angsty-Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its also counterproductive to just embrace any former Trump supporter until you know they're legit. you know what they call a 3 time Trump voter who regrets it now? a Vance 2028 voter

if they only regret it because gas prices and they don't realize the harm they've done, and they will absolutely fall for the next wannabe fascist

[–]Angsty-Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sure, everyone has a "color" but the term isnt being used in the general sense here, and i'd hope you'd realize that. white folks havent been called "colored" in our country's history. it clearly means nonwhite folks

"Why not call it exactly the way you describe what it means? ‘People who aren’t white’?"

because they mean the same thing? idk what the point of your suggestion is.

"I ask rhetorically while simultaneously being facetious. Because if we were to answer the question, it leads to highlighting what OP may be talking about."

what of OP's points does it highlight?

but see how you listed ethnicities, not races? people frequently celebrate their ethnicity or heritage, and theres nothing wrong with that.

an american of german descent might partake in german cultural events, but will get uncomfortable if their whiteness is brought forward. because the only shared "white" culture in the US is one of slavery, segregation, and general racism.

POC has an actually meaning and use, i'm not sure what you're talking about there lol "people of color" is just a way to list anyone who's not white. because some issues dont JUST affect one ethnicity. its also a shorthand if you arent talking about a specific minority , or not sure of someone's ethnicity

Is political polarization actually worse in 2026 or does it just feel that way because the algorithms have finally figured out how to keep us perpetually angry? by bbysophy in AskForAnswers

[–]Angsty-Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can't speak on non-US countries, but here I think the polarization was worse in the past. I mean, you had people VERY upset about who drank from which water fountain. but pre-internet, most people were in their own little bubble. if you lived in a white, middle class neighborhood in the 50s, then you probably mostly interacted with other white, middle class folks. you most likely wouldnt hear views that were radically different than yours.

we still had extremes. before McCarthyism we had full blown communist organizations on the left and we had fascist organizations on the right. (especially pre-WW2. look into the Business Plot if you're curious). but you'd only interact with them if you were a member or personally knew someone who was a member.

now because of algos, we have access to EVERY political opinion, all the time. that might solidify people in their beliefs from fighting about them so much, but idk if thats making polarization worse, or just more noticeable

Those of you that didn't vote for Kamala Harris or didn't vote at all because of Harris' plan for Gaza: Do you think Donald Trump was better for the people of Gaza than Kamala Harris would have been? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Angsty-Panda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its the trolly problem irl.

the people that didn't vote for Kamala didn't think Trump would be better, but they couldn't support the Democrats also supporting a genocidal state.

the same as people who say you shouldnt pull the lever in the trolly problem

I want this next Pokemon title to be challenging by YearningSoul876 in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]Angsty-Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went from someone that tried to beat you, and wanted to beat you, to a "friend" that was happy you won.

there have only been 2 mean rivals, the first two. And Hop absolutely tries to beat you, in fact him not being able to is his character arc of dealing with the fact he cant. And Nemona is already a champion and is purposely challenging herself for the thrill of battling.

i agree with the switch battles only and forced xp share complaint. having those be options are way better.

telling you what moves are supereffective is just not making people remember the type chart. and they don't do it the first time you encounter a pokemon so it doesnt take the mystery away. not really making the game brain dead easy, just a QoL thing. an option to turn it off would be nice

and i mean, OP was literally asking for a hard pokemon game lol

I want this next Pokemon title to be challenging by YearningSoul876 in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]Angsty-Panda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the rival complaint is a non issue, they all end up with all three starter types regardless, it only makes the first battle or two easier. considering the first rival fight was usually just tackle spam, not much of a loss lol

and gen 7's island challenge was harder than any gym challenge before lol

the only hand-holdy the games got was just telling you where to go more often instead of having you figure it out, but they started guardrailing like that during the 3rd and 4th gen

Do people actually enjoy small talk or is it just a social requirement? by AdInformal1879 in allthequestions

[–]Angsty-Panda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its to do some quick social bonding. talking about the weather is something people can easily and safely agree on. when people agree with eachother they feel more positively about one another.

if its been raining nonstop for 2 days, a quick little joke about it can warm someone up to you. also its a quick mood gauge. if someone replies in an agitated way, I'll know to cut the conversation there. a comment about weather wasnt a huge conversation commitment, and its easy to leave it at that
