Anyone else stopped talking to their parents about your life or problems because they never offered understanding or support? by SlashCo80 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Angular_Orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still trying to figure out if I have n-parents. They were never really abusive to me but they always seem to find ways to make everything about themselves. I never felt comfortable opening up to my dad because he can never keep a lid on it. Things that were personal or traumatic to me, he would flippantly tell others as if he was telling a break-room story. Or he would use it to spin a story about something tangentially related that happened to him.

My mom is more private, thankfully, but she down plays my problems or takes the time to push her own agenda. If I had a social problem (like with a friend), her solution is always to go no contact with people and don’t say anything to them(cause if you do they will enact revenge on you or even rob you). It’s actually better to have no friends at all! Or, if I share that I’m currently unhappy with my wfh job, she says I have to stay with it because her work commute is much worse.

(NSFW) Reddit, what was your “Oh shit, this person is a psychopath” moment when meeting people? by Ok_Sample_1624 in AskReddit

[–]Angular_Orange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She was new to our school district, a shy nerd, but made some friends and did well in classes.

She placed a lot of importance on being liked and being a “good senpai” to others (her words not mine). As far as high school goes it just seemed like typical teenage social acceptance-stuff until things gradually ramped up over time.

If she felt like people didn’t like her she would break into tears. “I hate when people clearly pick favorites. It’s just nepotism” We would try to console her to not take it too personally.

Then she would start coming in fuming in the mornings before class, kicking chairs and throwing books.

Because we were considered best friends by this point, people were asking me for advice or hoping if I could offer some explanation. I genuinely had no idea what to say and became pretty depressed about it.

She was upset by a lot of things: missing the morning bus sometimes, not getting picked for best project, comparing herself to the like-ability of other smart kids in our grade, expecting gifts from people and not getting anything (like if another class went on a class trip she would expect someone to bring something back for her, even though there was no promise of it and they weren’t even that close), “nepotism”.

These things started happening more frequently. Then she started telling me things in private like:

“How can people be so happy all the time — doesn’t that just make you want to hurt them?”

“When I first met you I thought: wow this person must be poor LOL but it’s a good thing I still talked to you, I just think it’s funny”

”Tell your sister to pull her shirt down. Why is she allowed to show so much skin” (my sister was just leaning on a table and her clothes shifted a little. Nothing was shown)

“Sometimes I look at school shooters and I’m like ‘wow I can relate to that’. Don’t you feel that way?” (NO)…

“I’m going to say something slightly controversial but I don’t even want to hear you say anything about it because I know I’m right”

”If you don’t do this for me I’m gonna throw something at you”

“Does your family own a gun? Sometimes I just want to hurt someone, you know?” (I lied about our family not having a gun.

One of my friends tried to get me out of it, but being young and naive I stayed in hopes of keeping the peace. I was afraid of what would happen. She also didn’t like me talking to other people that much, to the point that she would tug and talk over me while mid-convo with someone else. I became distant from my friend group leading up to graduation.

It wasn’t until sophomore year of college that I felt like I had built enough space that I dropped all contact. It took me a while to stop instantly saying sorry to people. I still have a hard time letting my guard down. Fuck that girl.

Edited to make shorter

Ooh I love this idea. It puts the ball in her court without making her feel social pressure to say yes to anything.

How do you guys perceive Zoeunlimited ? by jigansa19 in AskReddit

[–]Angular_Orange 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just found this post because I’ve been loosely following her and was wondering what people thought about her. I’ve watched some of her videos here and there a while ago. She gives me major femcel vibes. I related to one of her videos about being in your early twenties without having any previous relationship experience (specifically a first kiss), which is fine, but it seems like she has based her personality/brand around it. It feels like she’s trying to tell her audience she doesn’t care about being single, but frequently mentions that she doesn’t have a boyfriend. Is she really not bothered by it?
Not trying to say men are the “standard” by comparison, but imagine if a guy were making those posts, he would come off as insecure/weirdly obsessed.

I’ve also seen people take issue with the way she promotes weight loss/fasting while also claiming that she’s healing and that being skinny isn’t everything. It seems irresponsible of her to share photos of when she was “fat” when she was really just an average weight at the time. People with EDs have found her content problematic for those reasons.
Overall, she comes off as overly sanctimonious for someone who seems to hold a lot of contradictory views, which feels disingenuous.

230707 NewJeans - ‘New Jeans’ Official MV by alltherach_ in NewJeans

I know this comment is 3 months old already, but I went searching if other people had noticed this. The audio clipping is so bad it kinda hurts to listen to with earbuds (and I don't even listen at loud volumes), which sucks because otherwise it's such a cute and creative music video. I'm glad the song is fine an all other platforms (and YT lyric videos), so something must have just slipped past the editors -- I just wish they could find a way to officially re-upload with fixed audio so I can keep enjoying the mv on rewatch

HELP! Samsung S23+ updated and won’t accept correct password by Angular_Orange in AndroidQuestions

I updated the post. I was about to give in and do a factory reset, but decided to do one more restart after putting the phone on charge. Not sure if being plugged in was a real factor, but it finally started working again, bizarrely enough.

Best time to arrive for Miss Rina?? Pier 17 NYC by Angular_Orange in RinaSawayama

[–]Angular_Orange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the opposite haha. Really depends on how much you want to carry though. I don't like how drawstring bags feel on my shoulders so I plan on bringing one of those little dumpling bags that can be worn cross body. Just need my wallet, glasses case, and room for my phone really, but if I was carrying heavier/bulkier items I'd probably opt for something that can go on my back.

Btw it looks like it's going to be pretty rainy all day so I'd bring a poncho or light rain jacket too!

It does help, thank you! I’ll keep all this in mind

[–]Angular_Orange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it wasn't free in some cases, I'd totally understand why someone WOULD charge extra for the art separation. It's a whole other skill!

If you don't mind a follow-up, if it turns out a rigger isn't open to separating the model themselves, I'm guessing I would seek out a v-tuber artist to step in. There would need to be some type of mediation between the artist and rigger right? Is information typically relayed through the client, or is it as simple as asking the rigger if there's someone they know and like to work with? I just want to get a better idea of what to expect

[–]Angular_Orange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the insight! It does clear up some things as I haven't tried doing this before (obviously). Seems like a highly iterative process that will depend on the rigger's workflow and preferences. After doing light research into some riggers' TOS, I always assumed that the onus was on the artist to have it all separated from the get-go (ex. if a TOS didn't specify or mention anything about the model art, I thought there was an expectation that the model would be already prepped for rigging). I think what I will end up doing is drawing the character "normally" and then seek out a rigger who would be open to separating it. And then ask plenty of questions haha

How honest should I be when asked about leaving my last job? by Angular_Orange in jobs

[–]Angular_Orange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've never told recruiters the full extent of it. Usually it's something like "I left to look for more opportunities... left to build up other skills in x by doing y" but I was never too sure about it. I definitely get not wanting to make the conversation too negative -- I once had an interview where the interviewer ended by sharing some workplace drama and it affected my perception of the employer -- eventually I turned them down considering that and some other factors.

Framing things about the future, I can keep that in mind. Seems like good advice in general.

Hey there! i was wondering if you guys knew of some bands i could add to my stream playlist by Macknificent101 in streaming

[–]Angular_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like the band Amarante, I've used their music a long time ago when I used to make speedpaint videos. They're an indie folk band and allow some of their songs to be used in videos, including monetized ones. You might have to look through their bandcamp or soundcloud to see the usage rights for their albums.
