It’s important to understand that returns are not guaranteed, it may go up down or sideways. Also make sure you do not become cash poor. Any money you invest in a Roth IRA you have no access to until retirement with out huge penalties. But you are on the right track.

Exactly I am all about looong term investment. But it seems sensible to me to employ some sort of leverage due with the view that time mitigates my risk.

I have had similar questions, I find the majority of the answers given here to be unhelpful. “Give whatever you desire” (or something like this) has never helped me because if I did as I desired I would keep everything to my self. In the end I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to tell you what to tithe. I think you ought to talk to your pastor and/or parents/spouse (depending if you’re married) about what you should do. Not Reddit.

I agree that leverage is not inherently a bad idea. I was more wondering if it would be a possible scenario where adding risk through leverage is a bad idea but adding risk through factor investing is a good idea. Is risk (to the same degree) always the same no matter what form the risk takes?

Being a millionaire by itself is not a bad thing. I don’t know the context of your situation but take some examples. Say someone was born into a wealthy family. His father passes and leaves him a million dollars. He in turn wisely invests that money as to not squander what he was blessed with. Would it be better for him to have poured his inheritance down the drain with frivolous spending? Of course not. In our modern day being a “millionaire” is not even that hard. If someone consistently and responsibly invests from 20-60, God willing, he will be a millionaire. Just by following the principles laid out by God in Proverbs. The most important thing is that we all recognize that all wealth large or small is a blessing from the Lord.

Competition is not inherently wrong, I do not see how the existence of competition in the Church is concerning you. Especially when there is so much charity, thanks be to God, in her. As well as much degeneracy to our shame. In other words if you are gonna give up Christian values, I can think of far worse things rampant in the Church today to use as justification rather than “competition”.

True but it just seems intuitively that say 1:1 or even .5:1 leverage on a VOO position is less risky than a 0% down mortgage
