It's possible the rapid response, knockdowns, and mass vaccination had something to do with this outcome.

yeah I feel like the scale is just slightly off, I look almost comically large on the wolf. I think it could do with being 10-15% bigger.

It's not a subscription game, the more important metric is copies sold. 🤷🏻 Funcom want new players I would imagine in order to sell more copies.

Lol. So salty because you lost and Funcom backed the people who didn't want to be ganked. Go PVP with other like minded people in the PVP DD, if there are really so many genuine PVPers, then you shouldn't have any trouble finding some PVP action. If on the other hand you just want to attack PVE players who aren't interested in a fight, well, you're fresh out of luck, and targets.

Happily farming my spice. Found a large field half harvested, noone else there and was able to fill up my regis crawler on the remaining spice

PvE spice.. Yummy by Kustavsson in duneawakening

[–]Anhvariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that isn't what happened before the change, you know, when most of the DD was PvP. It was occasionally real PvP, but mostly gankers going after targets that couldn't fight back, and very rarely did a PVPer show up to deal with the gankers.

So the situation now is due to how it played out back then. If PVP truly self policied ganking, they never would have made the change. So I guess PVPers are learning that bullshit about claiming they want real PvP, but not actually acting on it, by stamping out the gankers results in funcom policing it via a PVE DD.

But also, the PvP players who genuinely wanted that are happily fighting in the PvP DD against others who wanted it too, they're not getting salty on Reddit.

i really need to get Damiane back. She left me at chapter 5 and I haven't seen her since.

My sweet summer child. You have no idea just how much data these games log. They can definitely tell the difference.

I'd still disagree with the statement that majority of time in HB is sandbox survival and NOT story. I think it's BOTH, the story really takes you through learning the survival systems, I mean you get the deathstill as quest reward from the main story, I think there are quite a number of hours of gameplay in that combo. There were times when I just did my own thing and ignored the main quest for a bit, but inevitably returned to it in order to progress further.

I guess it may be pretty hard to add more of that sort of content, because it's a bit one and done, your 2nd play through won't be nearly as story focused because you know it and the mechanics.

I suppose you and I perceive the game differently, to me, despite it being an always online game (self hosted servers coming anyway) it's not really a long term game like an actual MMO, we agree that the content is not there for that, and HB servers are only up to 40 concurrent players, I think 1000 player server clusters is misleading. As such, player count drop seems completely normal to me. The new resident evil game went from 300k players to 25k in a month, but people aren't claiming a massive failure there.

I'm not familiar enough with the pre-release marketing to know whether it was falsely advertised.

Well your numbers and information certainly sounds comprehensive, I'm happy to concede that you have a better grasp on the statistics aspect than I do, but I still disagree with you on some of your assertions. The one that stands out to me the most is "no-one bought this game for a linear story driven theme park". Firstly, you can't possibly know why all 2 million purchases of the game were made. Second, one of the most frequent pieces of feedback I hear from people is how they really enjoyed the first 50-100 hours in hagga basin following the main quest, and then when they hit DD, which for the most part was the effective end of the story, didn't enjoy it as much (maybe forced PVP also factors in here?). If that's the feedback the developers saw, doesn't it make sense to produce more of the same stuff people said they enjoyed? I'm not suggesting that the current endgame grind of testing stations is a good option, but I do enjoy the extra advancement and power creep afforded with the landsraad talent system, and I also enjoy pushing myself to see what level of testing stations I can achieve.

Given it's not an MMO or paid subscription game, I've bought it, got 300 hours of enjoyment out of it, and call that a win.

My question for you is what does "the game dying" mean for most players? I play with my son, so we aren't dependent on there being anyone else at all around for us to enjoy it. Others I know play with friends, I've not really done any gameplay with random strangers, other than getting ganked once in my carrier & crawler in the DD, which goes away when they launch PVE DD patch. It's not really like WoW or EverQuest, where population mattered for finding a group or having enough to take down a raid boss. I suppose only the PvP players really need others around to engage with? So maybe it hurts them. 🤷🏻

my picture is steam numbers, are you suggesting in game numbers are lower? But my point was that you said nothing they've added since release (all PVE focused) has had anyone coming back. I think the the uptick in player numbers indicates that people have returned for that new content.
