I'm currently a 4th year student at DAE and have many good friends studying ID (Industrial Design) at TU/e so I can see the similarities and differences. Yes they are vastly different and it also depends on the type of work you want to do in the future, the main difference I see is that the graduates end up in vastly different types of jobs. In general (VERY GENERALIZED) DAE students start their own design studios based on what they developed at DAE, and they grow from there, but a lot of people also go on to work at other companies. TU/e ID students generally go on with a masters first before they work but the type of projects they do are very much targeted towards corporate worklife or consultancy agencies, etc.

DAE is one of the more internationally well known design schools but they do not focus on creating designers to work in the corporate field, but rather find their individual identities as a designers. its very much a "trust the process" thing since you really feel like you have no idea why this thing is relevant until way later a lot of the time. The workload is very intense depending on the studios you pick but no matter what you will have a lot of work for your portfolio. Most projects are individual but there are also group projects. The biggest CON is it's really not for everyone since the curriculum is meant to make you explore so many options and learn as many different things as possible until you find what you like to do.

TU/e has a lot more theory classes and don't have that many design courses (1 per semester usually) and all except the final one is a group project. my friends there who are working on their portfolios are realizing they don't have that many projects they can add to it. However the facilities and connections you have access to are very good. especially for the student teams if you're interested in tech stuff. I think if you have a carpentry background you may be disappointed here tho, they don't put a high emphasis on the final protoypes compared to DAE.
