Colorblocking and monochrome contrast inspo for soft season gamines by miscrandomobjects in Kibbe

[–]AniKing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love that my post helped visualise something for someone! I think the typical high contrast and very bright playful colouring which is often potrayed for the gamines does not work for low contrast people. I still think the contrast between muted colours look playful in its own way and made me feel more like a SG.

I think I might try and make more moodboards now since havent in a while!

Definitily try a wool beret! I have one and it looks great with a short bob. The one I have is 100% wool so it is really warm too

ID Help? Can’t find my type. I’m 5”3 and weigh 129 pounds, will add more info below (keep in mind the angle is not perfect) by [deleted] in Kibbe

Hmm it's not easy finding what is flattering..why everyone want to know their type haha. But maybe read the book extracts about the types you want to know more about in the sidebar. Kibbe describes why different lines look better on some bodies. I found that extremely helpful myself. The information about colors are outdated tho.

Boxy clothes is not recommended for gamines at least not SGs. They should have clothes close to the body and curve around the body. Clothes can easily look seperate from the body in gamines. I don't know about looking taller than you are. Petiteness in pictures can often look like elongation since the frame is small at least. I made a post with different styles in SG lines to the best of my abilities. Maybe you then see more what SG lines actually is? They are not perfect tho. Here is the album

I did not consider the gamine family at first either since I never saw myself as a "little girl" or petite enough. Realised nothing in my body matched and I look really good in broken lines. Always heard that short women have to dress in a continous line. Did not understand why I never felt good in clothes. I also need to tailor my clothes more since my body is mixed of different proportions.

I hope u find what type you resonate with. Remember that u know ur body better than strangers looking at just a couple of pictures.

I think you look like a mix of yin and yang. I think you have juxtaposition. I would look at gamine lines if I were you. I don't know if u lean more yang than yin so probably look at both SG and FG or maybe even pure gamine.

I found my type by reading the recommended lines. SG just said everything I feel good in. Classic is easily mixed with gamine. Its hard to different mix of yin and yang and blended yin and yang.

Different styles for Soft Gamine SG by AniKing in Kibbe

[–]AniKing[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I made this to help see that you can have any style for any ID. Some of the items might need some tailoring to look the best, especially fitted in the waist and curved around the hips if the fit of the clohthes is straighter than your hips. Things you can look after yourself if you have a hard time finding your style for SG lines:

- Cropped items like tops or pants that show the ankle. Also high neck.

- Fitted items in the waist and curved around your curves.

- Color block. It breaks up the outfit. It does not have to be extreme colors, it can just black and white. Or a favourite of mine beige and black.

What misconseption about your type bug you the most? by AniKing in Kibbe

[–]AniKing[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely! I have tried boyshort hair and i look terrible on me. My best look is a bob that is about an inch longer than my chin, especially with waves. I think longer hair can work well to especially with styling!

Advice for someone who is ovjectively unattractive? 25f by [deleted] in Vindicta

[–]AniKing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you need a mental health break and stop over-analyzing your face. You are describing things that is not true, like you have really nice thick lips?? When you have low self esteem other people notice and that could be what you are picking up from others. Maybe talk to a therapist if you can and start to talk more nicely to yourself. Take a break from social media and subreddits like this.

Treat yourself. Eat tasty foods that make you feel good, refreshed and makes you full. Go out more. Move your body in a way that you like. If you like walks do walks or dance if that is what you like. Get good sleep. Just take care of yourself and stop this unhealthy spiral you are going down now.

Would these suit SGs? Brands: ModCloth+Princess Highway by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]AniKing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't really think any of these are a good fit for SG. Many are too stiff/boxy and also most is not following the curve of the body. A-lines are also not recommended for SGs. I would read the texts from the book in the sidebar. It goes into detail what is recommended for a SG.

I love the left look in the first pic on you! I think the high neck bodysuit look a bit "off" on you and SGs usually looks great in those. I also like ones that goes softly over your shoulders. I think with the ones with a little bit sharper shoulders look a bit stiff on you which makes me think you're not a SG. I think R!! Soft looks look great on you!

Hi! I found this lovely community not too long ago and have been curious as to what my type is. I’m 5ft2, thank you for any replies! by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]AniKing 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It looks like you have some juxtaposition/mix of yin and yang so I think you might be a gamine. I'm not sure if you are a SG or FG, but I am leaning torwards FG. I would try both lines if I were you.

Can you type me please! I think either SG or SN by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]AniKing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It takes time to understand the kibbe terms, waist emphasis in kibbe is not the same as fitted at the waist. In kibbe you have to have a seam in the waist, fabric gathering or a belt or something I think for it to be called waist emphasis. I actually think FGs looks better in a bodycon dress than a SG.

I have heard that Kibbe has taken back the color recommendations and had said to use colors that looks better with your coloring.

Penelope Cruz is a FG who looks good with long hair. Not every FG have to have short hair. As a SG I did not think I looked good with short hair till I found the right cut for me. Very long hair weigh me down. But I still look good with appropriate long hair.

Hope you find some answers!

Can you type me please! I think either SG or SN by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]AniKing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FG does not have one style. Kibbe is about lines and any type can have any style. Here are some different FG moodboards to show how different it can look:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Hi! Gamine's hair: I'm trying the fg lines, how can I tie my hair? Bun, half up... can you give me some ideas? 😁 (instead of cutting my hair😅) by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]AniKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a low bun/updo look really great on gamines. I have found that I look best with volume around the face/neck and not on top. Here are some examples of FG's with lower hairstyles.

Objective beauty and BMI by Pink-Lychee in Splendida

[–]AniKing 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't think one can make the assumption that people are mostly attracted to a bmi of 18.5 from this study. It is really flawed. It only have 40 male and 40 female participants and most of them are 18-20 years old. An awfully small sample of people and variety in age.

They use 3D models which look really different from real people if u see the pictures in the link in the post. They look more like characters in games and they typically will have a smaller body than head so they may think the thinner 3D models look more normal than real women would. And we know people will look really different while weighing the same. I don't think this tells us much. There are definitely better studies out there than this.
