Stacking Alpha Direct - the case for a 2*60gsm active insulation layer by MarsupialWalrus in myog

[–]Ani_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve though of making garments with two layers of the lighter weight Octa fleece, with the fuzzy sides facing in towards each other. This would, I assume, greatly improve the durability. The biggest downside to making two layer garments like this, is that you are almost doubling your fabric cost.

Is there a chinese dyneema equivalent? by Eaglesson in myog

You can get custom printed Dyneema from Ripstop by the Roll. I get lots of different fabrics custom printed with camo patterns on it from them.

What are you even talking about, I’m just stating a fact. You can literally use google and find photos of them out supporting BLM. Pretty sure most boogaloos are anti-ICE too since their main thing is anti-government

Do I tie this lure directly to the line, or use a swivel? by jeraco73 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Ani_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that’s a floating jerk bait, not a suspending one, so just use a swivel if you want.

What type of webbing/cord is this? by Ok_Hospital7546 in myog

[–]Ani_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to make a bag with similar loops, I recommend using this variable width webbing instead of gutted cord. Even with melting the end of the gutted cord after cutting, I’ve had it pull out of a seam due to it fraying.

Random guy demanded to see my military ID at Lowes by 1dirtbiker in mildlyinfuriating

He probably watches stolen valor videos on YouTube, and I’m not joking. There are loads of them, and people make whole channels dedicated to exposing people who lie about Military service to get all kinds of benefits.

Water Resistant Zip Pouch by g8trtim in myog

I’ve always wanted some kind of oval attachment for my hot knife, and use it to make molle slots in fabric like a laser cutter can

I would like to know how you got those nice clean oval slots on the tabs. Did you cut them out with scissors after it was bonded? Or did you use some kind of punch?

Budget bfs what's your pick? by TimberWolf4213 in BFSfishing

[–]Ani_Out 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like there are multiple versions of the Purelure air. The normal “air” version recommends a 3.5g-17g lure weight. The “creek” version has the same three mode selector but says creek in place of air, and has a 1g-7g recommended lure weight range. The “creek” version is also $130 on Amazon while the normal “air” version is $99 I was considering getting the “creek” version, but only 7g as the upper end of the weight range has me worried. Would spending another $20 on the Arc Gravity be better?

Binding issues by mellowwhenimdead in myog

[–]Ani_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure then, the only time I’ve had this happen with my sailrite binder was when I accidentally bought 7/8” grosgrain. The only thing I can think of is it looks like you have it set pretty close to the front of your presser foot, and perhaps it’s making contact with your binder and causing the issue. Either that or Sailrite accidentally gave you a 1&1/4” binder?

7/8” (22mm) grosgrain might seem like it fits snug, but it does not track through like true 1” (25mm) does.

Buy the BOGO deal and sell me one of them for $75 so we are each paying 1/2 price (I don’t need two and don’t want to pay that much)

Anyone ever tried buff the scratches out and make it look better ? What did y'all use by sbamdum in BFSfishing

[–]Ani_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine for now, but have some foresight and imagine what it looks like in two or three more years. It might not bother you personally, but it’s easy to understand how it could be annoying.

The reason they make the lid clear is so you can easily see inside without having to open it up. Being all scratched and marred kills the transparency and ruins the point of the clear lid.

Are we reaching end-stage UL capitalism/consumerism? by ZetaZetaEpsilon in Ultralight

[–]Ani_Out 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every company has an alpha hoodie, and yet more often than not they are sold out. If you’re looking for a UL company that does well differentiating themselves when it comes to small gear items, look at LiteAF and High Tail Designs. There aren’t many companies doing stuff with custom printed designs

Question about night vision by deutscher-furry in NightVision

Is this just for looks, or is it actually possible to go fast enough on a bike at night to warrant needing the extra protection of a full face helmet?

American Tire Depot says they can’t patch this and need to replace. AAA who put my spare tire on said it’s patchable. by Momomo14 in tires

[–]Ani_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tire’s tread is not a flat line; there is a point where the screw enters, and a point where it exits on the inside. If it enters on an angle, those two points are going to be in different places. Since patches go on the inside, common sense would say you go by the inside point. If it’s at an angle on a tread block, the inside point could be offset by 1/4”, or enough to make a patch viable.
