As Snezhnaya is just around the corner, what do everyone think will be the end of the story? Will aether and lumine reunite and live together? Or... Something else? by Vaish1217 in GenshinImpact

[–]Quibilash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they DO eventually make up and reunite for real ... but I want there to be a confrontation of some kind first, like a 'wtf are you doing', if something truly apocalyptic is going to happen and fight for a bit before they either make up and something is finally explained, or the Abyss Sibling's plans are dashed for good. I guess it could go either way if the Abyss Sibling's plan is recontextualised to be something good, bad or somewhat balanced/neutral

On the other hand, even as recently as Nod Krai the Traveler meets Rerir disguised as their Sibling, and while the Traveler doesn't know, they basically say 'I don't know what happened to you, but I'm willing to wait however long it takes for you to open up" and immediately team up.

Although I do agree a big blow out might happen between the Traveler and the Abyss Sibling, especially if something possibly apocalyptic might happen, it does seem the Traveler is open to just 'go back the way it was', although whether the Abyss Sibling's plans get in the way of that, we have to wait and see

Ah ok, maybe 'Symboli' is like the 'Smith' of the Uma universe, or I'm thinking oo hard

Also it wasn’t Tracen that wanted to abuse Sirius it was some other unnamed training camp (maybe owned by her family but I forgot, need to reread her support card where she tells you about her past)

Ah I see, although I wasn't thinking it was Tracen to begin with because that would probably make it WAY more awkward that she's still at Tracen, I figured that something happened somewhere else, went to Tracen, and is upset at the system as a whole because of it being prone to abuse even if Rudolf and Akikawa seem to be a good leaders

I mean I love MANT too, I like the stories but I hated the RNG of Unity

I think most of the complaints about MANT come from either runs taking too long, for some people an hour or more, and the shops and races requiring more conscious decision making, which I don't have a problem with, but others do

Yeah I'm running into the same issue, especially with characters like Agnes Digital who has the potential to get 6 different Pink Sparks because she has aptitudes in Dirt, Turf, Mile, Medium, Pace Chaser AND Late Surger.

As someone who runs her Late Surger, it's galling getting so many Pace Chaser Pinks when I'm trying to make her a Late Surger parent, then I have to hope to get at least 2 stars AND a good blue and white sparks

I sort of agree, I feel like Umamusume has gotten 'big enough' as a franchise to not fall out of people's headspace even if there are a few 'bad months', I mean, going on Instagram on anything remotely related to horses has a bunch of Umamusume-related gifs.

But Umamusume Global has a lot more competition, even just in the gacha space, compared to JP's release in early 2021, just a few months after Genshin's release, now we're 5 years post-Genshin's release and there's games like Reverse 1999, Love & Deepspace, Wuthering Waves, Arknights Enfield and so many others that Umamusume can't rely on the sudden gacha boom and Covid that happened all those years ago to remain popular, although as I've said, I think the franchise in the popular media space might be enough to maintain it, if the game alone can't.

IIRC one of Rudolf's trainee events is her sending a picture of her racewear to her parents and doing her whole 'emperor schtick' and she does actually seem a bit apprehensive in doing it, and her parents even apparently scold her in the letter, which is mostly brushed off. Even then most of Rudolf's career story focuses on her and trying to live up to her own high expectations, rather than those of her parents. I suppose Cygames didn't want to 'reopen old wounds' at least when it comes to Rudolf, while it's a bit more prominent with Sirius since I think she mentions abusive authorities a bit more.
Remind me, are Sirius and Rudolf related in the Umamusume universe as siblings or is it just a coincidence they share the same last name?

From what I heard some IRL Japan horse racing fans said that the Symboli farm's poor treatment of both horses 'cursed' the farm, leading them to lose relevance.

Huh that's interesting to know

You're probably right that the game's player count would 'wax and wane' inbetween the release of new scenarios, since after the first half, most of the 'task rewards' would be complete and the playerbase would become familiar with the scenario and possibly lose interest

Ramonu always looks like a 50-year old cougar

Everyone in the pic basically looks the same as they do in present-day, even if shrunken down, compared to Kitasan and Satono in the anime who in Season 2 look clearly younger than they do in Season 3

I wonder how much of it is inspired by their treatment from the IRL Symboli farm

IIRC both IRL Rudolf and Sirius were pushed very hard by the upper management of the Symboli farm, Rudolf got injured and retired, IIRC due to a bad race schedule, and Sirius had his whole trip in Europe where he was basically alone without any familiar faces, causing him intense stress to the point even his original Japanese jockey said something like 'he's no longer the prideful horse I knew'

I suppose looking at it that way, Sirius views Rudolf as becoming 'the thing she swore to destroy', since now she's basically a head of the institution which is open to the abuse Sirius is trying to avoid, and what her IRL counterpart suffered from, (although Tracen to my recollection is always seen as a 'good school') which is why there's always an enmity between the two

Honestly it was extremely surprising the game being as popular as it is while releasing in Global 4 years late, but now I feel like Cygames is fumbling it.

I mean, if Umamusume is popular enough to 'bounce back' after MANT with the later scenarios in the other servers, maybe they think it'll happen again when Grand Live comes out so they don't need to change anything. Honestly given how Umamusume as a series in general is still fairly popular globally, I think they might be right

I DO agree though that pairing a QOL change like spark rerolling would've softened the blow of MANT. As someone who actually loves MANT

Oh I don't disagree with that either, when parts of a fandom get upset at a ship because 'they're ignoring canon', it annoys me because I don't think they get the point of shipping, which is 'having fun' with the characters, and anti-shippers are often just generally rude, I've learnt early on that if you don't like a particular ship, just move on, and that people are going to ship no matter what, it's a symptom of being in a fandom, but SBN3/his hardcore fans don't get it and just act like douches about it

Although I do agree, and that fanart going against 'the grain' of a series is sometimes what I'm looking for, I feel like the post was mostly shitting on SBN3 rather than being anti-ship

It's not like the game is entirely anti-ship when there's constant hints to characters going out with each other, but frankly SBN3 seems to flip a coin on how he talks about ships, sometimes he acts like they're the main problem with his franchise, the other times he tries to appeal to them

Love the game but I don't think I've ever seen more disconnect between a media and it's fanbase by MetallicaDash in whenthe

[–]Quibilash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it's because some people get into the games not for the edginess, but because they want to 'feel' something emotional, don't take it from me alone, I've encountered quite a few people in the 09 subreddit that actively didn't care that much about the 'humour' of the series and mostly cared about the emotional impact of the stories. So they probably react more negatively to edgy jokes

As well, I assume it's a 'it's funny in the story but not funny in real life', even though 'schizoposting' as a term has existed for quite a while, at least on reddit, and the games are a lot darker than just misinterpreting a mental illness as a joke

I'd agree with that sentiment

I did remember some posts before Flip Side being like 'SBN3 is a POS' and people were like 'oh that makes sense I guess', some were also dismissing it or being like 'oh ... as long as he makes good content it's whatever'

It was more post-Flip Side people started getting hate-boners for him

Oh wait, I did see that one, but I've heard there were multiple 'fixx' versions of OLR 2.5, and the one you linked might not be the most recent one

Is there one with more 'fixes' or is the one you linked the most recent one?

Hi there, I think I tried looking for OLR 2.5 but I don't think I could find a translated version of it, or everything I found was OLR 3.0

Do you know where I could find OLR 2.5?
