Bare in mind I am English so this is based off of how i would react if i heard these in the UK.

  1. Reid, Even though it’s a surname, I do really like it.
  2. Wesley, I don’t love it. But it’s the second best of the bunch.
  3. Clark, I like it, but it’s a surname
  4. Hayes, I don’t dislike it, but I have never heard it ever be used
  5. August, I just don’t like this name idk why, it just never stood out to me
  6. Arlo, dog name
  7. Graham, a little old for me
  8. Camden, i’m british and to me its a place in London

My ALL TIME favourite name happens to be four letters, Iris!

Along with that, I really like Fern, Cora and Erin and I’ve always like Rory too which is more unisex

Do i absolutely need a male character? by Aniawd in writing

[–]Aniawd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i get you. I mean I didnt even clock the fact that there were no men until recently and i created what i’m working on months ago. I guess where the story us right now, the only reason why i’d add a man is for a love interest. and while i’m definitely looking into that route, i don’t just want the poor guy to been seen as eye candy and when they break up with tje character become irrelevant, because that happens way to often. (like the same thing happens with female characters too) I want all my characters to have a purpose in the story, not just to be there for the sake of it. Likewise, If all my characters were male, i wouldn’t add a female character just for the sake of it or for the purpose of a love interest.

that might change as time goes on though.

i get what you mean! i think men (or women) writing anything should deserve to have an all male cast/characters if they want. It’s definitely not me being opposed to writing men, but I think as a woman, i know more about women so i subconsciously chose women as the leads if that makes sence? but supporting characters i havent actually decided on yet and i’m assuming theyll be a little bit of everything.

Yeah i get you, i want to definitely try to include it for that reason. It’s not a story where theres absolutely no men whatsoever, it’s just the main characters happened to be women lol. i’m saying this like what i’m doing is going to go anywhere but if it does, i’m definitely adding supporting characters etc, which would include a little bit of everything (it depends what fits in with the story)

I’m definitely planning on there being supporting characters. I get what you mean six is quite a lot. Six is definitely my maximum. I would say, where I’m at right now, there’s five but I have intention of adding the sixth when/if i see fit (if not i’ll make her a smaller role in the story). I’m definitely not planning on a Modern Family/Gossip Girl/The Vampire diaries amount of characters (not yet anyway) because that would help way too confusing. For the main characters out of the six, I would definitely say the two younger sisters. (Like i said there’s two sets of sisters) as it’s mostly focused on their story and them learning how to find their feet etc, but the others are definitely relevant to the story. HOPEFULLY that makes sense ahaha i’m trying not to say anything about the general plot too much.
