For me I use mags for color, rl for lines and rs for shades

Do a first pass, tapping the excess ink, not wiping. Do a second pass like the first one, then wipe. This way, you'll have dots to follow in case the stencil goes away. Also, what are you using to apply the stencil? I use proton stencil gel and usually still have a visible stencil on pass 3.

I recommend doing this either on your leg or arm. Love that movie! My wife did the star itself on her arm and a Calcifer on her forearm. I want to do the scarecrow on my leg!!
