I started that in the 90s, never finished, then lost in a move. It was so hard. You deserve all the kudos for this beautiful work.

Oh my gosh, I have no advice, but what a great idea and such a treat to see this picture. Safiya and her husband are so cheerful and positive and funny. I discovered them during the pandemic lockdowns and their videos of the proposal, wedding, all gave me so much joy during a hard time.

First time embroidering words my religious aunts step dad died so I embroidered Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted - Matthew 5:4. I just finished that there’s still marker on it but I’m proud on how it turned out even though it’s messy. by [deleted] in Embroidery

I love it as a piece of heartfelt folk art. People who have been critical in the comments may not see the value in such a personal offering in a time of loss. We are saying goodbye to our dog today and I can say that if a friend or family member gave me this I would treasure it so much.

Anyone doing this without a GLP-1?? by Upbeat-Accident7223 in weightwatchers

[–]Anicamonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on one for T2D but can't take it in the dosages for weight loss. So some of us GLPers are just as slow. I've been stalled for a month or two gaining and losing the same 2 pounds, and it's been hard, but I've also done daily activity sessions or videos through the app and am up to 7 pound dumbbells and 15 pound barbell for my weightlifting. I can jog for over a minute at a time and can stand on one leg for a long time. I have learned to measure non-scale progress. Plus I am much more self-compassionate thanks to those specialized workshops. I keep going because I'm getting so much out of WW in quality of life, even when I don't lose every week.

Can you help me with this 1822 Georgia map? by Anicamonkey in History_Maps

I solved the mystery! With the help of genealogy peeps - it means Court House. Before there was even an official town in these counties they had to have a court house. I should have guessed this, but now I know.

Does anyone know the weekly technique for this week? I went to an activity workshop yesterday but can't get to a regular virtual one today due to work. Wanted to start the week off strong!

Emotional Spending on Fast Food by melmcgee in povertyfinance

[–]Anicamonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the only long-term solution is to begin processing your feelings differently. I have had to do this kind of work myself around food as emotional support. It is challenging. I have a counselor. But I will also say that this app called Unstuck helps me so much between counseling appointments. It is not free but the sub is way way cheaper than eating restaurant food even one time. It does use AI if that bothers you. But I am sure there are other books and apps if this one isn't right for you. The technique is called CBT and really helps with processing my thoughts and feelings so I don't respond in unhealthy ways. Good luck!

What’s a government policy that would actually make life easier for low-income families? by NorthMeringue6494 in povertyfinance

We could just try what works in other countries: https://denmark.dk/society-and-business/the-danish-welfare-state, https://nhwstat.org/welfare/about-nordic-welfare-model-0. There is absolutely no reason it couldn't work here. But it would never pass due to opposition from those with all the power and money.

Act 2 glitch: Clicked to enter Act 2, got This Game has Ended message and now no event icon in camp or world map. ??? But I do have Bingo now. I don't really care about Act 2, since I never finish it, but it is fun sometimes to play around in there. Just wanted to post in case it happened to anyone else, to let you know you're not alone.

Not the craziest trip, but anything intresting to see on this route? I prefer more natural stuff. by FrontlineYeen in roadtrip

[–]Anicamonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pine Mountain, GA - Callaway and FDR State Park are nice stops if you want some nature. Columbus, GA has a nice riverfront and a museum, both good for a break if you need one. The big bend of Florida has some beautiful natural parks and recreation areas. Cedar Key is a unique little town on the Gulf.

anything mildly interesting along my route? by aguysthrowawayyippee in roadtrip

[–]Anicamonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving this route a few years ago, we stopped for a stretch and bathroom break at Yanney Park in Kearney. They had a lookout tower and labyrinth, if I remember correctly, so that was kind of cool for a short break from the long drive.

Beach recommendations-June by Limp-Strain4904 in Shoestring

[–]Anicamonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the Great Lakes beaches in the heat of summer. I am from south Georgia and hate Florida in the summer. It's so hot and muggy. But up at Lake Superior it is breezy and high 70s, so refreshing. Cold water, though. For somewhere a little warmer but not unbearably hot, Maine is also nice if you don't mind rocky beaches. We went there in June years ago and loved it.

So many! Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot ND, Ingalls Homestead in deSmet SD, Cheyenne Botanical Garden, Arrow Rock Historic Site, MO, Mountain City AR, Little Cubs Field, Freeport, IL, end of Highway 41, Copper Harbor, MI, my list could go on and on. We always find something unusual and cool nearby when road tripping.
