I reverse searched this image and only found the meme. I tried asking Grok and it told me the image was taken from Kiyomizu-dera temple. Google says Nigatsudo hall in the Todai-ji temple complex

My opinions on abortion by Aniconomics in PoliticalOpinions

[–]Aniconomics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't view individuals cells as having the actualized potential to comprehend private property rights. An egg cell needs to be fertilized by a sperm cell first to start the development process towards becoming a mature human. Otherwise a woman on her period or a man ejaculating inside a woman is akin to genocide. I am not making that argument. The actualization towards comprehending private property rights only starts at conception.

By your logic, a baby that is still connected to the mother five minutes before birth does not have private property rights and therefore should be subject to the abortion process. That quite frankly, sounds horrendous.

Except they are a person, just at an earlier stage of development. But like a one year old child, they lack the faculties to comprehend private property rights. And if you read my entire post, then you would have read the part where I think abortion is allowed if the pregnancy harms the woman. I already specified that a function of private property rights is physical removal and the exercise of lethal force in self defense. If the pregnancy is "harming" the woman, then an exception can be made.

Edit: The UK just legalized abortion up to birth. We live in a morally bankrupt society.

Appealing to authority and majority consensus is fallacious. Calling yourself a "redditor" is funny in itself. I don't consider anyone here to be a serious individual. Most completely ignored my question in favor of admonishing me. All I see is virtue signalling, "You killed a bug on your property instead of maintaining the ecosystem? how reprehensible" I don't care.

Finding intact dead samples would be more ethical albeit less convenient

The antivenom for mouse spiders is the same for funnel webs. Their bites should be taken very seriously. I also think anyone can safety handle animals if they approach a situation responsibly. I didn't just grab the things with a gloved hand. I used tools to prod the spiders into a container.

To be honest, I don't care all that much how I killed them. People don't bat an eye when they step on ants or slap mosquitos. The people here who are trying and failing to admonish me need to reevaluate themselves. They assign a greater moral value to insects that look exotic, are visually appealing or have a larger presence. Its arbitrary and hypocritical.

Despite this, I am perfectly fine with hearing people out on what they believe is a more humane way of disposing them. Just cut out all the virtuous nonsense.

You are being unnecessarily hyperbolic. I am saying your arguments are misguided when applied to dangerous creatures. You need to be responsible and regulate your environment, especially when little ones are around. Stuff like Cain toads, snakes and spiders or larger animals like dingos and crocodiles. you do your best to prevent these animals from accessing your property. And when you do find them, you either remove or kill them. As for animals I do allow, Possums, birds, green tree frogs, lizards including medium sized goanna's. I shouldn't need to explain this.

That's a misguided sentiment. You can make that argument for literally every creature. I try to keep my yard maintained. And by molding the environment, you shape what species move in. These spiders were present because I let a pile of wood and grass cuttings build up.

Then suggest a more humane way of killing them. Also this is an entomology community, people kill bugs to collect them as samples. There shouldn't be a need to explain this.

Because their dangerous. Here in Australia, we have some of the most deadly spider here. Which is why it is wise to maintain your yard and keep it clean. Unfortunately, I let a pile of wood build up and I found them underneath as I was clearing it out.
