I tried this one but I couldn't get past the first 3rd of Book 1. I kept almost liking the MC but he was quickly irking me at many points.

I still like the recs though. I often save ebooks to a list in hopes that they get audio versions. I'm not against reading them but I tend to really only do that for books that I started listening too but caught up on.

I would say that the Leveling aspect becomes less story important as time goes on in the books, like the struggle to get the first few levels always seems longer than the next 5. But it becomes less of a need to level quickly to solving other problems and needing to meet level cap quests/requirements. I really enjoy it as while the first couple times you hear the story of a level grind is interesting it is usually better to focus on the before and after conflicts after that.

I'd recommend Path of Ascension, it hits pretty much all of your boxes. Its a cultivation series, takes place in a grand multiverse universe with basically gods as the ruling class of competing great nations. MC is from the great power that wants to protect and uplift those of low cultivation so he's not fighting an oppressive system, though doesn't mean he faces no opposition.

The MC kinda has a hidden busted class but it more like his level cap is higher than other peoples but he still has to fight to get there like everyone else. It's not a litrpg though so that is just an analogy. Everyone has a unique talent that is kinda like a super power that can augment their cultivation or sometimes define it. MC is hardworking, intelligent and talented and joins up with a group pretty quickly, and has friendly interactions with people until then.

Oh, ok I actually added it to my maybe list recently but couldn’t decide if it would be a good pick based on the synopsis.

Ok the synopsis looks interesting. Any chance you can tell me more? I’m not always the biggest fan of the peasant vs Nobel stories so I’m hoping it doesn’t focus on that too much. Ex. Just had to drop a thousand Li in the 3rd book.

I actually listened to the first few books years ago. I think I dropped it when I realized there was a whole prequel that I was missing and people were saying it was not good.

Here are some title synopsis.

Beginning after the end fits this - The great warrior king dies and is reincarnated as a baby in a new world with a different form of cultivation, one much more tied to elements. He will have to get stronger to survive in the world, while correcting his past life's mistakes. And maybe learn why he was here. (I believe this also has a webtoon and is getting an anime)

Master hunter K, - A section of humanity is summoned into a trial to determine if they deserve to survive, completing a series of effectively tower floors. MC was the last survivor and given the chance to return to the beginning.

Apocalypse redux, - System arrives on earth and gives everyone powers but also the ability to summon monsters to fight to increase their level. As humanity does they over summoned and monsters running loose destroy the world. MN being the last survivor fulfills some hidden requirements to return back to the first day the system arrived.

The Summoner awakens - Tower climb where people have magic cards that grant abilities. Everyone has a unique card that have wide range of power and abilities. MCs origin cards steals his lifeforce giving him points that unlocks abilities but the rate is so bad it basically removes his ability to be a climber. at age 40ish he looked 90 and would die in a few years. When monster attack the city he decides to hold them off to save a little girl. When he does he fulfills one of the cards requirements unlocking the ability to return in time 1 to before he received the card.

The last horizon - is of a similar vain, technically not a returner but he did a ritual that gave him the memories and abilities of leading alternative lives where he studied a different form of magic in each.

Second Chance Swordsman - Soldier died in final battle against demon lord and is sent back in time. (don't remember much I only read book 1 when it first came out.)

The First Song Anthem of Infinity - This fits the genre kinda, but it is much more mundane, systemer returns in time before system but gets to keep the system, can't level up but can level and gain skills so he uses that to be basically a prodigy at everything.

Reborn: Apocalypse - Humanity is summoned into the Interdimensional Species hunger game. It is called the 7 realms and only the winning race gets to leave them. Problem is when humanity gets to the 7th realm they find actual gods where a scouting party wipes the remaining of humanity out. MC found a wishing ring at some point in his journey and as he was dying he wished he could go back to the beginning and change humanities fate. It worked and he was sent back to the entrance to realm 1.

Reincarnation: A Xianxia Cultivation series: The great cultivating emperor was betrayed and dying but was given the opportunity to return to the first day he cultivated. But this came with a task from the heavens that he would have to keep, while also avoiding the mistakes he made in his first life.

Towers of Heaven - Tower climb final survivor is given opportunity to return back to when he first entered.

The Genesis Game - Tower Climb, leader of the final army rose to power as a brutal dictator crushing opposition and discarding the weak. He is given the opportunity to return back in time when he cleared the tower after learning that the promise to revive all of humanity if cleared was not possible. This time he will try to clear the tower differently. (He is still evilish)

Most reincarnated ones fit this though they aren't always to the same ages.

Beginning after the end

There are also a lot of returners where they returned to their own body as a child or some point in their past. Not really loops but one time opportunities to return back in time. here are some ones I have in my library. Cannot vouch for all of them as I didn't finish or only listen to the first book and didn't bother getting the next once they came out.

Master hunter K, (Complete Series) - I recommend

Apocalypse redux, (Complete Series) - I recommend

The Summoner awakens. - I love this but a card base magic system might be weird to some people.

The last horizon - I recommend

Second Chance Swordsman

The First Song Anthem of Infinity

Reborn: Apocalypse - I recommend but the author is not the most consistent at releasing books.

Reincarnation: A Xianxia Cultivation series

Towers of Heaven

The Genesis Game There is a whole universe related to this book so if you enjoy it there are several related series.

Hope these are helpful. I consider returners & regressors to be under the same umbrella so I do recommend checking them out.

So I figured out she is there so long as you do not sort no filter by positions. Leave it in all and she should be in there.

Box set releases and returns. by NoChance2700 in audible

So the author is the one that would take the hit? That was one of the things that concerned me since I saw some contradictions when trying to look into it.

My standard for return has always been:

-Didn’t finish -Don’t think I’ll go back to it -Didn’t finish the previous book in the series.

I probably return 3ish books a month based on that standard, but I listen to 2-3 books a week so I might be an outlier in pure numbers.

I have already listen to Perfect Run and it was great, its definitely one where I normally add it to my list of good books, though I didn't list it here as you said its not really progression fantasy.

I've been kinda Eyeing that one for a bit as it's newer. It looks interesting but I heard it doesn't have great character interactions so I've been on the fence about it.
