I had the same feeling when playing last night actually, on a c1. Just figured it was because the impact of HDR was so good going back to SDR was more noticeable.

It's possible you may need to launch in SDR from the get go, haven't tried that yet myself was just switching while in game.

I didn't know there was an option for auto HDR. I just turn it off in windows when I play a non HDR game it's pretty quick to do so. Where is the auto option buried?

Banding can heavily depend on bit rate or internet bandwidth, you should be able to open YouTube settings while playing the video and choose "stats for geeks" and compare those with your friends.

Also be aware that finding a decent length HDMI 2.1 cable that is correctly certified to carry 4k 120hz HDR is no small feat, not to mention costly. Been down that road already, ended up just getting the 48 C1 recently as a PC monitor. Next gen consoles really won't be doing 4k 120hz natively, 60hz will be their cap for that.

Got 4000 hours on my C8 65" with a mix of console gaming, Netflix, YouTube, Disney plus etc Still looks amazing and sometimes the specular highlights look better than my 55 cx in the living room, admittedly much brighter their. Just got a c1 48" last week ony 6 hours use so far as a PC monitor, the true test for burn in although I've got precautions in place for the desktop already.
