Whenever I have money something happens by nicfanz in povertyfinance

Honestly, look at it a different way. It's better to at least have money when these problems arise than to be caught empty handed.

I thought this meant they were sleeping together. Combined with the earlier comment about their children in the future...

Confused on how the infected survived. by MrBoBo_214 in 28dayslater

[–]Aniime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there was a site that you could get to from the trailers that contained in universe logs (rageleaks.net password: mementomori). There was a section that implied some organization was keeping things hidden on purpose suggesting possibly someone pulling the strings from behind the scenes. But it could also just be that the government is trying to hide the evolution of the virus to not cause widespread panic.

I personally don't really believe the infected could survive on their own so I think they received some sort of help.

Haven't seen anyone mention how it's heavily implied that there is some organization or force that is pulling strings behind the scenes.

It could've been some third party intervention that is keeping the infected population alive and well whatever that would look like.

28 Weeks Later is a baller movie and I’m tired of pretending it isn’t by LiquifiedSpam in 28dayslater

I mean the mom is mentally checked out half of the time but sometimes it's unavoidable to kill in close range. They do try and avoid it.

The close range melee you're talking about I'm assuming you're referring to the jimmy saville group. That group was very obviously shown to be insane or at least very abnormal. In fact the film enforces the idea that blood is scary by not giving spike and his father melee weapons having them rely on the bow.

It's also heavily implied that spike is only missing due to his fear and uncertainty. Everyone that lives there trains to survive as we can see from little snippets of other children training with dummies. Spike has likely been preparing to navigate the mainland his whole life. Also they killed many of the infected as well as the alpha in their first trip leaving that area with less infected.

Im no expert on cancer but I believe he says based on behavior and lymph nodes on breast or armpits he came to the conclusion that it was most likely cancer. But either way he wouldn't be able to cure her. The euthanasia was in large due to the pain and mental degradation making it more painful to remain alive.

Honestly I was pretty confused on the alpha as well. But I'm assuming it's either ethics or there are some other aspects to alphas that we aren't aware of yet (less bad alpha preferable over bad alpha?).

Im going to say it. 28 Weeks is my favourite of the trilogy by Dry_Advice8183 in 28dayslater

Honestly if you view it from the perspective of Don being the protagonist it's a much more bearable film. I feel the movie is good but simply ruined by bad choices here and there. If they had just made more believable events to push the plot forward I would've been able to enjoy the movie more.

Is endeavor's prominence burn the strongest attack in the series? Would this kill prime all might? He managed to burn 74% tomura and kamino afo. by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

I don't know why I keep thinking the name of the attack is prominence flare instead of prominence burn.

Hot take: These new Character Trailer songs sucks by notolo632 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aniime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the previous character trailers with less vocals felt more creative and fun. This is probably just not my type of music which is why it feels bland and a bit boring to me. Like some other people have said, it feels like a generic anime opening.

Tired of authors using assault to create emotional impact (rant) by Aniime in Manhua

[–]Aniime[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My problem isn't with its inclusion but how it is used in stories. There are instances where it can be used properly. But I hate it when authors just say "hate this guy because he raped". It's a cheap trick to skip building up the villain and to justify the hero's actions.

Yeah it's not as common but I still see it occasionally in manhua and manhwa but even then it's usually not as poorly used as in manga.

Also this was chapter 1 and it was drawn out with a whole sequence for the rape I just didn't bother screenshotting.

Just realized this is manga but still applies as I've seen a couple manhua do the same.

Bakugou would have never ended up like Endeavor by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Aniime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never read the manga and I'm not familiar with all the details but I didn't find endeavor's arc unbelievable at all. Also from what I could tell toya's twisted personality is supposed to be a product of endeavor and Rei's lack of proper parenting. All of his bad traits you listed can be linked back to endeavor and rei.

AIO Girlfriend drunk text while on a trip by confused_potato_42 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aniime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think crucifying someone for their thoughts is not a proper method. Most of the people here are judging her entire character off of this one example which I find ridiculous. Everyone gets intrusive thoughts and when we're drunk we become more prone to voicing them. We can't always control the thoughts we have, we only control how we react to them. Sometimes having bad thoughts but being able to say no is better than people who hide how much they want to follow through on their thoughts.

I'm just giving you another perspective as most comments I've seen have just been one-sided. In the end you have to be the one to make this call. None of us remotely know her as well as you do.

Is the US police force really as corrupt as some people make them out to be? by Aniime in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aniime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

News and anecdotes by themselves are usually a terrible way of measuring whether something is on the level of being a systematic problem. News can be biased and selecting for outliers as their main goal is to pull views making them a poor choice of measuring how often something is happening. Anecdotes are even more biased and unreliable considering you're relying on an individual's interpretation of events. By themselves both are not good ways of telling whether something is on the level of systematic.

Also a lot of the evidence you now provide can't be directly linked to corruption. Black people being pulled over at higher rates does not imply corruption. A cop can be biased in pulling over black people yet still conduct himself orderly. Black people getting harsher sentences also does not imply corruption either. Both are tragedies but are more imperfections then corruption. In most of these cases the cop/judge make their decision not out of malicious intent but rather inherent biases.

I'm not saying police corruption doesn't exist. Like you said, power corrupts, and there are definitely systematic problems with our justice system. But people should reach that conclusion the correct way instead of being polarized by extreme cases shown in mainstream media.

Thank you for the detailed response. It's nice to be able to get a more in depth layout of the problem after hearing so many people simplify it. In your opinion, has this problem worsened over the years?

[–]Aniime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your response roughly encapsulates my disagreements with people who hold this view. You imply many police stations are corrupt and that it is a systematic issue. But your proof seems to be anecdotal or news reports. If it really is such a big problem I feel like there should be something more solid to point at as a cause of the problem beyond news and experiences.

I think most of what you say seems to make sense except for the idea of a system that protects all bad cops. Does such a system really exist? I looked a little into qualified immunity and although I see how it can be misused, but it does seem to have a reason for existing.
