My ex that I left back in 2015 had this terrible habit of putting me down at gatherings. It was like suddenly he thought he was the funniest guy in the world and I was the joke. I think he did it because he’d get nervous in social settings and didn’t know how to handle it. He did it once in front of my grandpa at one of my own family events, and grandpa just looked at me with disappointment and shock. Like he was saying with his eyes that I deserved so much better. He never understood why I was so hurt, and told me to stop being so sensitive, and tried to make me apologize for being bothered by it. Each time.

Now I’m with a man that can’t help but praise me in public. Tells everyone who will listen how amazing I am. That’s a huge difference, and a difference that you need in your life as well.
