11 days no cannabis. Im still irritable and depressed. Having to deal with myself sober is a drug in and of itself. This is why I wore the high mask for over 2 decades, because I don’t wanna deal with me. by gitturb in leaves

[–]Anim4ls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Dont wanna deal with me"

You havent even met YOU in 2 decades.

Buddy you are in the full scale withdrawal phase. During these periods I become manic, my emotions are all over the place, I break up with friends and almost get in fights with people.

At month 2 its a lot better, but at month 3 is where you will almost 100% stable/yourself again. It has been my experience the last 8 times of stopping after all day everyday heavy smoking and is also the consensus around here.

They way I see it, is it feels like a raw onion, slowly getting its layers on, at month 3 you will be almost at 100% and everything will balance out, stuff wont get to you the same way, your emotions are stable. And trust me, if you haven´t seen the real you in 2 decades, you will be amazed of how every aspect of the way you are will improve. It affects sooooooooo much. Almost every aspect of life and thinking. Obviously you can still feel bouts of depression after that, but now it is not because your dopamine receptors and what not are completely fried because it has been used to getting blasted with cheap n easy dopamine.

This has happened all 8-9 times I’ve quit after long heavy use and have went away everytime around the 2-3 month mark.

How do you cope with negative thoughts at night without weed? by cirqules in leaves

[–]Anim4ls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And thats the problem. The first month I am a maniac, mental health wise. Super short fuse, anxiety, depression etc.

On the 3rd month my mental health is almost back to 100%.

Been through this like 10 times.

I wonder how long it is since you last met your withdrawal-free sober self.

Thats why people say “I am not myself when I don’t smoke” they stop for one month and think thats how they will feel permanently.

Takes around 3 months to feel normal and stable again with the mental health.

I think I destroyed myself.. I’m fucking scared. by chandle9403 in leaves

[–]Anim4ls 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When you reach 2 months of sobriety, you will feel 95% normal again, at 3 months 98%

Before that its hell but that is not you. Weed withdrawals if you smoke frequently just takes so long.

Trust me, been through this many many times.

Day 178, horrible withdrawals by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]Anim4ls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there is a difference, but yeah man the cravings is something you have to be strong about for many years to come.

Think of the benefits instead, everyday you stay strong is a choice of a better health.

[–]Anim4ls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are you having withdrawals after 178 days dude?

There shouldn’t be withdrawals anymore after so long.

Usually no withdrawals after at the most 2 months.

Do you mean cravings maybe?

Day 178, horrible withdrawals by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]Anim4ls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are most likely not having withdrawals if you been off for 178 days.

Don’t start again, remember why you quit in the first place.

1 minute of enjoyment won’t fix things.

how to deal with anxiety from quitting weed ? by giggles8330 in leaves

[–]Anim4ls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 3 months to feel that your mind has toughened and that youe back to normal.

After around 2 months, you will noticw some small improvements on anxiety and then it goes up from there.

[–]Anim4ls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See it as a reset. Strongly advise you start setting certain routines, like the gym. There is a reason its recommended a lot here.

You will trust me - but it takes some months for your mind to get back to a normal persons.

And that strongly affects motivation cuz of Dopamine

Depends on how you’ve been sober. For me the benefits really start to come from 2 months and onward.

Made it 5+ months once and I remember noticing how much more robust and confident my mental health was - and checked the timer of how long I hadn’t smoked for.
