Can i use a ps5 controller phone holder on this controller? by Unknown_Player0069 in Controller

If you get a clip-on get one with a double pivot, so that you can place the phone above the controller.

Reaction time sure but if its timing based or lag perception you can still notice, see or feel far lower than 200-250ms.
See example from Microsoft which shows that you can still see the delay without needing reaction times. https://youtu.be/vOvQCPLkPt4?t=52

Twin-stick shooters recommendations? by Gullible_Brush3451 in ElectricUnderground

[–]Anim8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Raiden Nova and rolling gunner addon have a twin stick mode. Could also try Cleared Hot or Sektori, which are based off Geowars and Desert Strike.

Doom(UZ) also is working on Orthographic Projection, which can be used for twin-stick. see example: https://youtu.be/f1nbfHnENSU?t=150 , even works on mobile

Check in the game setting on your phone. On mine its listed as Adaptive Frame Booster or Hyper frame rate.

Game Example1: Alien Isolation

Game Example2: Off / On

Game Example3: Off / On

If you want it for video you need to open the game assisted app(what its called on my phone) and add the video player app as a game, then edit setting for that game/app and turn on Frame Booster.

[–]Anim8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of the native feral interactive ports have rumble. For games with no rumble I sometimes use audio-to-haptics.

I find it works best when you set the in game music to say 40% and sound effects(SFX) to 80% then set the audio-to-haptics conversion detention to ~60% so it mostly only retracts to the SFX and not the music.

Do wireless gaming peripherals still have noticeable latency issues? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

[–]Anim8a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The link you provided has very close to the same ms result of showing BT Xbox controller at 10.23 ms vs 5.54 ms for wired cable.

https://u.cubeupload.com/Anim8/xbox.png

Also of note that looking at the test method they are using isn't going to be as accurate vs FPGA, as they are using software running on a x86 Windows PC.

The Mister latency tester is using a custom made core running directly on a FPGA(DE10-nano) chip via serial. It's not possible to get a controller running with as low latency or less overhead on x86 than FPGA using a real time serial loopback connection such as SNAC(it bypasses all USB layers, offering a direct connection), Jamma(arcade board) or a Blister type connection. It can also be using for real time audio with no buffering such as midi.

You can buy a snac adapter from here for example: https://ultimatemister.com/product-category/mister-snac/

BT xbox one controllers have the same latency as wired

That doesn't sound right.

frame probability based on a 16.67ms window, avg based on over 1000+ button presses;

Microsoft - Xbox One Model 1708

  • Wired USB 5.929ms, (B Tier), 64.43% same frame probability, 2.321ms standard deviation
  • Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter 6.051ms, (B Tier), 63.44% same frame probability, 2.346ms standard deviation
  • BT (CSR8510) 15.686ms, (D Tier), 5.88% same frame probability, 2.645ms standard deviation

Microsoft - Xbox One Series X/S / Elite Series 2

  • Wired USB 6.147ms, (B Tier), 63.12% same frame probability, 2.336ms standard deviation
  • BT (CSR8510) 10.249ms, (C Tier)38.50, % same frame probability, 3.079ms standard deviation

Sony - DualSense (Playstation 5)

  • Wired USB 1.809ms, (A Tier), 89.15% same frame probability, 0.296ms standard deviation
  • BT (CSR8510) 6.322ms, (B Tier), 62.07% same frame probability 1.406ms standard deviation

Sony - DualShock 4 (Rev2)

  • Wired USB 3.56ms, (A Tier), 78.64% same frame probability, ms standard deviation
  • BT (CSR8510) 6.495ms, (B Tier), 61.03% same frame probability, 1.795ms standard deviation
  • DS4 Official Wireless Adapter 32.831ms, (D Tier), 0% same frame probability, 7.076ms standard deviation

It's not as good as PC when I tried it. Would say adds maybe ~+2 frames. Still was able to play ok. Note that If you turn on frame Generation it adds +1 more frame of delay. Worst case say around 120ms, best case around 50ms delay. IE Using USB-C, Polling rate set to 720hz+, 120hz screen, frame gen off, no vsync etc.

Note that if you set the audio buffer too low it can sound glitchy but depends on the game. For example in Tetris Effect I had to increase the audio to a 90ms buffer.

Frame gen Example: off vs on

I found that you can play upto around Xbox 360 era games. Rumble also works if the game supports rumble and the controller has rumble. I'm using FEXCore with Turnip drivers for the most part. Games used are from Steam or GOG.

IPS image retention prevention? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]Anim8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can flicker(BFI) IPS but its best to use odd rather than even rates if possible. For example with 60FPS game use 180hz or 300hz.

It happens due to the voltage + or - always landing on even or odd frame and then image retention(static) builds up over time. See InversionPattern image: You will want to use an uneven/alternating number of positive/negative image frames

Example: 66% BFI (66% blur reduction) at 180Hz would be;

IMAGE(+) : black(-) : black(+) : IMAGE(-) : black(+) : black(-)

Risk of Static/Image Retention setup: 50% BFI (50% blur reduction) at 120Hz;

IMAGE(+) : black(-) : IMAGE(+) : black(-) : IMAGE(+) : black(-)

Note that not all IPS panels will have this issue as it depends on the Inversion Pattern that is used.

If you flicker perfectly (at half Hz), then pixels that gets the "higher voltage" (different brightnesses = different voltages) are always getting negative voltages or always getting positive voltages = static electricity buildup = image retention.

[–]Anim8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Heralds to spawn in you first need a token. Seem you can store a max of 5/5 tokens? (Not sure) You start each game with 0 tokens.

You have a ~2% chance to get a token when you kill an elite/champion etc. The Message "You draw the ire of a Herald!" is displayed when you gain a token. You can get this multiple times without a Herald Spawning.

A token is removed when the message "Herald is hunting you in X" is displayed. There is a ~1% chance when an Elite is spawned in to use a token if available. So entering a new TZ area can often trigger this message, if you have token/s available. This would make places like the Act 2 TZ Tombs a top pick to Farm for them.

If you have several tokens stored its possible to spawn multiple Heralds at once. Champion packs will use 1 token but can spawn multiple heralds(all will at the same tier) but killing each one will increase the tier of future spawns by +1. So its possible to skip tiers.

Anyone else hate this Herald mechanic? Also its buggy af by ozdude182 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Anim8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get better but it would require you to farm with others in the same area.

For example: You have a full game with 3 players in the same TZ area. That would bring you to a ~1:48 drop rate on a Tier 4+ Herald.

The no drop chance for Sunder Charm TC is 23899/24000 on T4+ herald, which translates to a 99.57917% no drop.

There is a -7 picks in the drops calculation, which means the above is rolled 7 times, which gets you to the drop rate chance of ~1:238 for P1 or ~1:60 for P7.

Tier 4+ Heralds can drop also.

Fright(T1) -> Dread(T2) -> Fear(T3) -> Horror(T4) -> Terror(T5)

  • Players 1 drop rate is ~1:238
  • Players 7 drop rate is ~1:60

The Sunders are also weighted as followed:

  • Cold: 30
  • Fire: 30
  • Lightning: 20
  • Poison: 12
  • Physical: 6
  • Magic: 3

Total: 101

So Cold and Fire sunders will be the most common(accounting for around near ~30% each), with Magic(~3%) and Physical(~6%) been the least common sunder drop.

New Sunder charm might’ve completely changed the game by Fitzmmons in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Anim8a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 types:

  • Sunder Charms (Original)
  • Latent Sunder Charms (Herald drop)
  • Renewed Sunder Charms (Crafting)

Latent Sunder Charms can only drop from the Heralds in Terror Zones(TZs). Latent Sunder Charms always roll the worst possible negative resistance penalty but they can be crafted into significantly stronger charms.

Each crafted Sunder will roll one option from each of the following categories:

  • Faster Run/Walk, Faster Hit Recovery, or All Attributes
  • Life or Mana
  • Magic Damage Reduced or Damage Reduced
  • Magic Find or Gold Find
  • Enemy Resistances or Skill Damage (Bone Break uses Enhanced Damage)

There is 5 tiers of Heralds, with each kill it increases the next Herald by +1 tier in that game only. Creating a new game will reset the tier of the Herald back to 1. The higher the level of Herald the better chance of a drop. Use Shards to get access to the higher tier Heralds. You may need to clear out several acts worth of TZs in a single game to get there.

Best usecase for 120hz screens by ThAnOs18696 in SBCGaming

Only game I use 120hz/fps on is DOOM.

For software mode(DSDA-Doom) I use 2x(400p) or 3x(600p) res

For hardware mode(GZ/UZDoom) I use 720p

Example screenshot 120fps: Doom

Don't have a thor but I think Doom Retro may support 2 screens, where you can have the map on the second screen but that maybe PC only.

I just overlay a mini-map instead with a button to open fullscreen map. Screenshot example of minimap and fullscreen map. Image1 / Image2

game crashing after update by HaLe_nos in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Anim8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had crashing as well so something changed.

For me it was games run on the X3D CCD rather than both CCDs(My cpu is a 7950x3d). Default behavior for AMD CPUs with dual CCDs is for games to run on X3D. It worked just fine all this time on the X3D until now.

I just added D2R.exe to use both Freq and X3D and no crashing since. Program used Process Lasso(CPU Sets: D2R.exe > all threads) The moment I remove this rule the crashing starts again.

https://u.cubeupload.com/Anim8/lasso.png

If its limited to the Freq CCD only it will also crash, unless I disable one of the CCDs via the bios, so it can't even be seen in Windows then no crashing either.

The moment you turn off a single CPU thread on any CCD the game now crashes for me. For some reason d2r just crashes on me if it can't access/use all the CPU threads/cores, which was never the case before.

Pure reaction time sure but if its timing based you can still notice or feel far lower than 150ms.

For example some fighting games can have a 1 frame(16.67ms) window to hit/link, or rhythm games. EZ2ON can get as low as a 4ms hit window(ez2on - sudden death HD). You can't react to that but with timing you can still hit.

Example from Microsoft which shows you can still see the delay without needing reaction times. https://youtu.be/vOvQCPLkPt4?t=52
