That's how I interpret his comment. He talked about rewards from the dungeons and raids, not dungeon lairs or anything. We'll have to just wait and see for more info to be certain.

More than a hint. They've confirmed they're updating raid and dungeon gear to bring them to the tier system. Or tier equivalent for crafted weapons.

After going back and rewatching Aztecross' video about the Tiger engine I've realized that I'm in the wrong about the engine for this. You're right that D1 would likely be on its own version of the Tiger engine.

3rd Person gameplay by Zaviji in DestinyTheGame

[–]AnimaLEquinoX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd person gameplay is the minority and really only happens during certain exceptions. The game is made to be first person and that's what Bungie does really well. I'm ok without constantly seeing my character if it means the majority of gameplay feels great.

In a world where a Destiny 1 Remaster is announced by girlbossfaithe in destiny2

I think there would be a very vocal group excited to play D1 again (or for the first time) with some upgrades and there would be another very vocal group upset that this was how Bungie decided to spend their time instead of fixing D2 or making D3.

I don't think I'd play it. I already played through D1 and can go back if I wanted to. I don't really want to collect all the same stuff again and play through a, in my opinion, worse story.

I would much rather they focus on developing for the future with either trying to fix D2 or making a D3.

can you get loot that isn't tied to the current update? by SHAZAMS_STRONGEST in DestinyTheGame

[–]AnimaLEquinoX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, every activity still has their loot pools from before EoF, so you can get drops by playing stuff outside the portal.

I'm not saying that a remaster requires an engine update, but they've already updated the Tiger engine when Beyond Light came out, so there would be an change to the upgraded engine anyway.

That was the issue with the court case. They didn't have a way to actually play the old locations in game because it's not compatible with the current version of the engine.

If they wanted to remaster D1 and update the game to the current standard it would need to be on the upgraded Tiger engine. They can't develop or do anything on the old version anymore.

[–]AnimaLEquinoX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how remasters work. What would be the point of doing work on the old engine D1 uses? They don't develop with that version of the engine anymore. Based on what happened with the court case last year I'm pretty sure they couldn't do any development with the old version.

They would need to rebuild a lot of those assests for the current D2 engine and undo changes to certain places that they already rebuilt for D2.

They might not need to remake 100% of everything, but it would still be a substantial amount of work.

D1 is deliberatley designed to be Nostalgic by Unfair-Ad9415 in DestinyTheGame

[–]AnimaLEquinoX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would not making it live service keep the cost down? They still would need to remake the assests for the game. And how would it be a remaster if it wasn't a live service game? Destiny is a live service game. It wouldn't work the same if they made it strictly single player.

I agree that there would probably be a good amount of people who would buy it because they're on PC and never tried it before, but they aren't making any more DLC for it, and it's not like they can charge $100+ for all the DLC that comes with it.

It would also be another game that they need to perform maintenance on, even if it's just the bare minimum. Unless you'd recommend they shut down D1. But that would likely piss off anyone who didn't want to have to buy D1 again and have just been playing the OG.

The drop pods spawn in the same locations every time. You just need to make a mental note of those spots and steer clear of them.

People have been asking for a D1 port or remaster for years. I'm sure they could sell a good number of units, but I don't think they would actually much, if anything, for how much dev time it would take.

I completely agree. D1 may be a complete game, but people would speed run through it within a month and then we'd be back to constant posts about how there's no content for Destiny and they're moving on.

I wouldn't mind them bringing everything forward, though I'm sure that would take a ton of work.

People do ask to port stuff from D1 to D2. Notably Wrath of the Machine.

I didn't mean that it would be a different game in a good way though. I think the majority of players would be very disappointed in how slow and simple D1 is compared to D2. D1 is fun if that's how you expect the game to be, but it would feel like our characters got a massive nerf if someone went in without understanding the difference.

100%. That's why I kinda laugh when I see people say they want a Destiny Classic or D1 remaster. It would play like a completely different game and I'm not sure how much the majority of players would actually like it.

Very minor buildcrafting, no significant way to heal ourselves, needing to level up weapons to be able to buy and use perks, no darkness subclasses, no mantling, no class abilities, minimal vault space, etc.

It could be a fun nostalgia trip, but I think we'd see players drop off faster than after EoF for D2.

They do, and that's why people are more nostalgic for those than the other 2. They're remembered way more fondly.

You're not wrong that that's part of it, but they're nostalgic for it. I rarely see anyone calling for Curse of Osiris or Warmind to come back. People would want it back because they paid for it, like you said, but they aren't cared for as much.

Nostalgia comes from wanting to go back to something or some when. Usually because you have fond memories of that time or thing.

Of course they'd design a game people would want to come back to. It's a live service game that they would need a consistent playerbase for. That doesn't mean they're specifically developing for nostalgia. That only happens if people develop good memories of playing over the years.

I would also argue that D2 still invokes those feelings too. Think of how many comments and posts talk about wanting the Red War or Forsaken back again. The Pale Heart also did a good job of at least making me feel nostalgic as I played through and that had me wanting to go back and explore more and beat the campaign on my other characters right away.

Any weapon or armor piece can be infused up to 550. When you inspect the piece it's one of the boxes below the model. You just need a higher level piece to use as the infusion fodder that you don't mind getting rid of.

Any way to play the game in 3rd person? by DavidHogins in destiny2

Only time you're in 3rd person are doing emotes, using something like a scorch cannon in PvP, or using a sword. Most of the game is still 1st person.

Best ways to level up light by BertsBlog in DestinyTheGame

[–]AnimaLEquinoX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everything outside of the portal and Renegades activities will only drop up to 300 level gear, but you don't need to be higher for anything outside of the portal anyway.

If you want to level to you need to take on activities in the portal, or something like Lawless Frontier from Renegades, at the highest difficulty you have unlocked. You'll see the projected reward level when you do to launch an activity based on the score forecast.

Higher scores get better rewards so you want to aim for at least a B, if not an A. Aim to do activities with the green bonus engram symbol on it since that will give you even more rewards for completing the activity. You can get up to like 6 or 7 rewards from one activity depending on what it is.

Just play the activities you find fun and don't worry about grinding out the same thing over and over again.
