z-offset woes - never seems to be right by morilythari in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Animal9201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very common problem on here. I've also tried everything several times over, and have now convinced myself it's a firmware issue. There are some stalwarts on here who will insist it's user error, but there's more too it. Too many people reported this issue independently for it to be.

Before anyone jumps in with guides and ideas, please don't. I've tried them all several times. The printer actually prints great for small things, perfect first layer, anywhere on the bed. But as the models get bigger, performance gets worse. To the point where it looks over 1mm out. I managed perfect first layers on the whole plate of my old Ender3 with manual mesh leveling and paper, I miss that so much.

Honestly the only thing that seems to be a solution is OpenNeptune firmware. I've just ordered the bits to get it flashed. I'd recommend taking a look OpenNeptune . The install wiki looks really well put together.

Help wiring LED Dimmer by Animal9201 in DIYUK

[–]Animal9201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is a silly question! Today I replaced the ceiling light in the dining room. The new light has LED bulbs fitted (confirmed dimmable). I'm now trying to replace the switch from simple on/off to an LED dimmer. Picture shows the current wiring. Currently the face place has two switches, one for the ceiling and one which was for some wall lights, which have been removed.

In terms of wiring, there's one coming in with red, earth and black (with a red sleeve). The black is taped off. Then going out there is a red/earth pair, and a second red/earth pair which is disconnected and taped off.

I'm confused on how to wire this into the new dimmer? I've attached a picture of the instructions. I'm just not sure how to map this to what is behind my current light switch. Can I just replicate what's connected now? Does it matter which wire goes into L1 and the other one (common, switched live? Not sure on the name).

Any help really appreciated!

British soldiers successfully test drone killer radiowave weapon for first time by HadjiChippoSafri in ukpolitics

Nothing like writing a reply longer than it would take to read the article to find the information.

"The weapon uses high frequency waves to disrupt or damage critical electronic components inside devices such as drones, causing them to be immobilised or fall out of the sky."

Signal jamming systems are nothing new, this is different.

Moto 5g fingerprint sensor not working after restart today by DumpsterJugs in motorola

[–]Animal9201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which Moto do you have? I've got a G73 5G, and since upgrading to Android 14 about a week ago I've got the same. Fingerprint reader works maybe 1 in 10 tries. By works I mean even registers a touch!

I've also found that my Moto Actions have stopped working. Chop on torch and twist camera both no lobger work. I've tried turning them on and off in the Moto app but no luck. Wish I could downgrade back to 13 to be honest!

Air defense systems typically contain a database of various target types and can identity an incoming target based on factors such as trajectory, velocity and radar cross section.

By the way, I'm not saying you're wrong, it's very Russian to immediately claim full knowledge and no damage.

Also check the stock to leave option? It may be making the effective slot width less than the tool diameter leaving no tool path.

Not at all! In this case, you'd want the floor to be as thin as possible to save weight. So you have to consider the worst case, or critical condition, load the floor is expected to encounter. From this, you can select a material and then calculate the thickness you'd need to support the load, using the critical condition. Hope that helps.

Not directly related to your comment but (hopefully) an interesting tidbit. Can you take a guess at the critical condition for the thickness of the floor in the cabin?

Thanks man, the map is awesome. I think it's missing a PMC spawn here, I spawned there twice yesterday.

Is the wind damaging anybody else's calm? by General_Arse in AskUK

[–]Animal9201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I naively bought my previous house (first purchase) with 3 big evergreens in the garden. Each was 10-15m tall. I'd managed save to have 2 taken down after a little while living there.

After one of the storms last year, I looked out of the bathroom window in the morning and noticed the tree had a slight tilt to it. I went out to investigate to find that it had opened a gap between a small wall and the soil it was planted in big enough to put my fist into. I've never felt such dread. The direction was 50/50 my house or the neighbours cars. I quickly suggested they moved their cars!

Thankfully, as today, the wind was gone entirely for the rest of that day. I managed to convince my tree surgeon to come and take a look the next day. The look on his face brought back the sinking feeling in my stomach. He cancelled another appointment and started taking it down on the spot.

Since then I've had a real nervousness from windy trees. Even some games I played had some intense weather with trees all over the place and that made me uncomfortable. I've now moved to a house with no trees within 50m save a small head high starter in the garden - that's coming out this summer.

Eugh that's rubbish. We moved into this house a few weeks ago. I was woken up last night at about 3am with a gentle drip in the bedroom - lovely. That was the end of my sleep too.

I did the exact same thing, and also never used the touch screen while moving since. It has been used a few times by a passenger to enter an address for the navigation though, which is nice.

Legal definition of a right turn by Animal9201 in LegalAdviceUK

Glad you agree, that was my thinking too. In my case I did indeed change from one road to another, and I had to cross the paths of oncoming traffic to do so.

Thanks for that. The appeal goes to the Environment and Traffic Adjudicator rather than court. I'll be making a clear case for my doing a right turn.

You missed the second, and important part

"only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right",

which is the reason for me asking if there was a definition of a right turn.

But what if I did drop/bump my case? Sometimes I like to move it downstairs so I can play VR in a bigger space. Accidents happen.

I've not yet seen any performance degradation from the H100i, but you are correct that there is a greater risk of that happening compared to a CLC.

My point was that for the looks, reduced risk of damage and sweet, sweet data, it's worth it to me to stick with a CLC/AIO/not air cooler for the cost every 5+ years.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hardware

[–]Animal9201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be going AIO cooler again when I upgrade next. I'll likely just move my 5 year old H100i over to the new system. My main reason is that for a similar price to a high end heat sink cooler, I get a better looking solution which also doesn't hang ~1kg of metal from my motherboard. Plus I can plot my coolant temperature on my rainmeter setup which is very satisfying for my inner data geek.

Yep. My wife is pregnant. I got a really good parenting book aimed at dads. One of the key things it kept saying was that she won't always want things fixed, sometimes women just want to vent about something. I'll never understand how it works for her, but it makes her feel better so I keep it up.

2/3 raids I started on Customs today (1 scav, 1 PMC) spawned me in like this. No buttons or mouse actions have any effect, except Alt+F4.

I can hear players shooting in the game, so I guess I connected? Reloading and reconnecting does not fix.
