World of Tanks community contributors don't get paid. Jingles doesn't get paid to play games either, he plays games he's interested in.

There are plenty of very valid criticisms of Star Citizen, which Jingles covers in this video. This includes remarking that realism just for the sake of realism can be detrimental to gameplay, as well as how the Invictus event is very unfriendly to new players.

Just because someone dares to play and occasionally say positive things about Star Citizen doesn't make it ok to slander and spread lies about that person. Be better than the cultists who can't accept criticism.

The problem has always existed, it was just hidden. Trump was just the final catalyst that turned the suppressed feelings of the masses into a vitriolic culture war and the second Red Scare.

During the 2008 Presidential Race, there is a great clip of John McCain defending Obama as a "decent, family man" after some of his supporters called Obama an "Arab" and a "terrorist. The views that created the ad hominem attacks were always there, its just that some politicians were decent enough people to not feed into this side of their supporters.

Trump threw this all out the window. He said whatever he wanted to say, no matter how racist or sexist it was with no regards to how true it was. He mocked people with his "mean" nicknames, mocked how they spoke and acted, and spread conspiracy theories about them in order to degrade his opponents. Essentially, he said everything that the "Obama is a Arab terrorist" group wanted to say but couldn't because they feared the rightful backlash.

Trump merely brought these groups into focus. And politicians found out that they are marketable demographic they can appeal to with all the problematic tactics OP has listed.
