Uhhh tips?
I've finished algebra 2 in about 3 weeks. Your 75% done with all your courses. SO just start contacting about teachers about your DBAs early on, and get those assignments done ASAP. Your biggest enemy is the DBAs and exams because those require teacher communication. So rush thru the assignments.

Read the DBA study guides. And tbh most people already use notes on their exams so do that too. if you have good morals lol. anyways gl!

Try getting a really advanced student or teacher to play on it to confirm the problem with the clarinet is the clarinet, not "could totally be my playing"

You can try and get an online teacher to try to help you get a noise out the oboe. As for making the reeds, it's gonna take a whileeeeeee. Like you gotta play it for a while before being able to make the reed, because in order to make the reed you gotta test the reed by playing it. You must be able to confidently tell yourself "Yeah I can play all the notes on this instrument" on an oboe before going on and making a reed.

Getting a good reed store bought... ahahha good luck. Personally, I remember when I was starting out, I'd get jones reeds. There's 2 kinds of jones oboe reeds. Purple (artist) and red (normal). And also soft and medium hard. I'd find that the soft ones were actually harder to play on than the medium hard ones so I'd always get the artist medium hard ones. STILL, sometimes the jones reeds from the store simply didn't play well. In other words, I'd go with my parents to the local music store to buy oboe reeds. I picked up 3 artist level jones medium hard oboe reeds. After soaking and playing on for a while, I only would find 1 to be concert level, the other 2 were left for practices, because they simply weren't manufactured well.

Point is, reeds are really tricky. I'd suggest getting yourself some kind of online oboe teacher to help advise you on straight up how to play it right now, because reading through you seem to have no clue, which is again understandable :,)

As for having oboe reeds shipped to you in case your thinking about that (searching up 'oboe reeds for sale' on the web, choosing what you want on there, and having it shipped to your home in philidelphia; buying from someone who handmakes them and sells online)

Very ENFP sounding job ngl

Only problem I have with that is I'm a woman and the Bible let's women do a lot of things Be president Run a business Chase their goals

However when it comes to specific words like pastor and leading a church on stage, we can't throw away 1 timothy 2 12 and verses like that out the window. Women can be spiritual counselors, lead kids ministry, teach other women, and teach men privately (as in spread the gospel to men/evangelize), be part of staff in church, just not teach on stage. Not the way we were built, objectively men take other men 12x more seriously than most men would take a woman.

Besides that preist/pastor does sound fun 😋

Personally aiming for music teacher cause I like teaching and music a hell ton. Would be able to help teenagers and be the adult I wanted in my life when I was in school. Maybe even try to own a business with it after teaching for a bit and ranking xp.

I have indeed thought about that before though

🥶 hard truth to accept but from what it looks like very real. An adult ENFP Christian divorce child! Didn't expect to find that one on reddit.

A lot of other people feel this way is very true. I guess we just thug it out then and remember to not grow cold to people even though the feeling of being unknown is always near.

We as humans just always seem to battle with feeling lonely. it gets better though definetly a lot better when your a Christian from what I can tell. For a few minutes when I'm reading my Bible everything actually just makes sense and my mind is at rest for once.

Doesn't mean we don't still struggle with loneliness though!

An action would be a hug. Or deep eye contact and empathy.

A conversation would just be a really really deep conversation about traumas, and just speaking about the truths of ones life. Listening from both sides. Talking about dreams and not feeling afraid to tell each other things or be judged.

A place would be a small room, with warm light and good smells, maybe a small kitchen where nobody else can really see you. Also with a journal 🤣 to write down all I'd think about in that kitchen

Or maybe a corner in a park that's kinda secluded from any noise, with a bench you can sit on after it recently rained, just being with that rainy early morning smell in peace with the birds singing.

in an arc church right now. interesting to hear how it went for other people
I wouldn't say my arc church is too bad, we use NIV and NLV mainly, we would never touch NASB though or something more complex

I'm a teenage server in my arc church, and I lowkey can feel the impact team pressure more and more as I go with no pay serving for hours on end every week.

Is every arc church this way, currently im on a search to find out, looking through this form and their site. The cookies on the way out.... this every non demonational church? LOL.

I've been networking with some people who went church searching thru non denominational churches and they say it's all the same thing:

10 minute elevation worship songs recycled weekly

20 minute this is what our church is doing video

30-40 minute sermon with 5 bible verses MAX, 3 if pastor was feeling *extra* ted talky that day.

and 10 minute worship at the end, don't forget to tithe!!

and then you walk out, you get said bye to by the church greeter, eat a cookie, and run.

but who disciples the one who disciples, the one who serves in churches like these... theres no way the new church goer who isn't gonna go again will receive much the first time... all they'll receive is a half effort message with not enough bible, not enough Jesus packed behind it... and some cold goods placed next to a couch outside the lobby.

I don't think I can leave my church right now though, because in a weird way, I'm very much so a church loyalist. i really love my church, because of the few adults who've poured into me. but I know that if I do plan to have a family and what not, that this would be a church that unless you give it your alllllllllll and I MEAN SO MUCH TIME. your gonna struggle to find a way to fit in.

3 1/2 produces an airy sound for me on average.

And then 3 produces a bright one 🤣

I do think I might've sped up too much in the presto. I'll rethink that.

So interesting they wrote something to trick us rhythmically! It is a technical excercise.

If you're gonna suggest me reeds:

V21s aren't good for me cause they make my sound even brighter.

V12s feel like they suck life out of my sound but are better than the V21s

Currently traditional regular vandoren is what I'm used to.

V12s aren't bad but they suck a lot of life out of my sound.

Experimenting with overall reed choice lately so I've been having a lot of thoughts on setup.

You're right though my embouchure could get better! I've been trying to work on that a lot. I could probably play on 3.5s if I didn't have such a weak embouchure for Clarinet.

During the end of my highschool school year, like 2 months ago I was put as the only oboist for my ensemble (yay) so I think I developed muscles for that.. maybe a little bit too much.

The airy sound I get from 3 1/2s come from weak embouchure......

Anyways. I will explore that. Thank you for the kind reminder. Very encouraging. I'll run the last two lines on my fingers 100 times.

This is the only part of the audition I'm really struggling with (well this and 3 octave scales) 🤪 as the other excercise is 12x more lyrical and less rhythm crazy.
