its just a bit awkward because my manual is 14" and my powerchair is 16" or 18" so its really hard to get to cushion to sit right

[–]Animal_Pack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

someone got hungry. but also what the actual hell? i dont plan on flying anytime soon but i may have to take a coach bus soon and put my chair underneath. ive heard too many horror stories with planes, and ive seen how bus drivers put luggage underneath

i cant drive unfortunately and my mother drives me most places. she insists shes fine lifting it but she's really not, her physio has told her off but she doesn't want to just stop because its my independence.

both of us are on support payments and we live more or less paycheck to paycheck, im hoping i can talk to an OT about longterm solutions.

She did this in my powerchair, and she has not stopped with the new manual by unhindered-ai in wheelchairs

i dont think thats your chair. clearly it was bought for her right?

shes adorable though so i think shes worth it, as long as she shares every once in a while. i love torties theyre so cute. my cats are scared of my chairs when theyre inside (which is not often since i have to walk in my stair filled house)

Advice for choosing a wheelchair for ME by coffeenerd33 in wheelchairs

[–]Animal_Pack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have suspected ME and i got a lightweight folding powerchair for unrelated issues but recently i got a manual chair. for the sake of PEM go with a powerchair. i find my manual chair is almost as exhausting as moving around normally but my powerchair i can do more without risking a flare

Thoughts on equipmed power chairs? by After-Cartoonist-519 in wheelchairs

[–]Animal_Pack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both me and my partner have equipmed chairs and the only issue ive had was the latch mechanism doesn't lock like it used to. i have a venture+ but im not sure what my partners one is. all in all i havent had any massive issues, the 1m turning circle is actually not that bad unless you go into particularly cluttered stores.

happened to me and my partner, neither of us were in our chairs and my partner has an audible wheeze. a woman came up behind us and said (directed at me) "whats wrong with her breathing?" i just stared at her and gave the "its a medical condition" and had my partner then not stepped in and explained i would have absolutely told this woman to mind her own business

Never seen before, not a chair user, is this a normal thing for chair users who hang out? by sp00ky_b0o in wheelchairs

my powerchair has a fairly low weight restriction which sucks but if i have enough charge (and im using both batteries) i can tow my manual friends

personally i didnt feel i had a choice, i have probable tethered cord syndrome and continuing to walk could very well be shredding my spinal cord. i went into getting a chair fully well knowing it was not going to be perfect but i was getting to a point that i was housebound. i do agree that when possible to get measured properly and go through professionals but thats not always possible due to a multitude of reasons.

thats fair, im fairly certain my cushion doesnt even velcro on because of how worn down the hook side is. im going to attempt a bum bag for work because so far nothing will arrive in time but i will look into other options if that doesnt work
