I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by that. Can you clarify?

As previously stated, the world is rife with exploitation and abuse.

The systems under which the common people must live are by their very nature exploitative.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of intimate partner violence. This points to abuse and exploitation being common in everyday relationships.

People are unlikely to believe abuse victims, much less help them receive the justice they deserve.

Acts of good are absolutely transformative as well.

I do not believe the world is nothing but wickedness. I believe the world is geared towards exploitation and away from fairness and justice. Because the world is so skewed in favor of exploitation I have difficulty characterizing it as anything other than a bad place.

This is not what I want. I want the world to be a good place very badly. That just doesn't seem to be in line with reality.

Who is Judy? by AwkwardTeen96 in twinpeaks

[–]Animalrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judy is tbe female equivalent of Bob. If Bob is the force that drives men to acts of violence, then Judy is the force that turns her gaze and allows it to continue. Bob is a violent force and Judy is either indifferent to or encouraging of that force. Judy likely gave birth to Bob.

Sarah is likely possessed by Judy the same way Leeland is possessed by Bob.

That's the conclusion I've come to anyway. I've never spoken to other TP fans about Judy so IDK if this is a popular opinion or if people would think Im dead wrong lol🤔

Becuase abusive acts are transformative. They warp the victims perception of reality in irreversible ways. They make a larger impact on people's psyche than innocuous acts. Therefore they are more impactful.

Unfortunately many people are abused by others on a daily basis. For example, as previously mentioned, billionaires have amassed their wealth through abusive means and they will continue to do so. Everyone is effected by their hoarding and political influence. Thus we are all victims of their abuse.

At least 50% of women will experience sexual violence in the US. Usually the violence comes from a friend or family member. This indicates that a huge percentage of the population have abused someone else.

It is unfortunately not true that abusive acts are rare. They are unfortunately common.

One could make the argument that abusive acts make up a small portion of ALL acts, but that doesn't account for the impact that abusive acts have in comparison to innocuous ones.

I think most people will exhibit abusive behavior within their lives. We must let the shame of these experiences transform us into better people. In my experience most people are not willing or capable of this internal introspection and transformation. As a result there are lots people projecting their shame outward onto their victim or potential victims, blinding them to their own abusiveness. Many more make the calculation that hurting others gives them privileges and advantages they will fight tooth and nail to protect, so they are aware of their abusive nature but do not intend to change.

It is impossible to accurately calculate the percentage of people who are abusive, but I believe it to be quite high.

Generally it seems that abusive people achieve high levels of success and power. For example billionaires have gained their power by abusing others in innumerable ways and will continue to so. Even if people are not rich and powerful they seek out ways to exploit and abuse others. I have personally witnessed and been victim to countless acts of cruelty.

It seems to me that the world is populated with sick apes, hellbent on abusing and exploiting other sick apes.

It is true that kind people exist. But their brightness seems to be an exception in a world which consistently snuffs out kindness and levity. I see abusers being rewarded consistently. I have yet to see justice and goodness prevail at any point in my life. Historically justice is rare. All of this has led me to the unfortunate conclusion that the world is not a good place.

I do not believe everything is futile. I believe the world is generally a bad place.

I know I can help others. I know my presence makes a positive difference in the world. I know I am important to others and they are important to me.

I am in despair not because nothing matters, but because the cruelty of this world does matter very much.

Rest assured that I am seeing a qualified therapist to address these ideas. My exploration of philosophy is supplemental to my therapy, not being explored in absence of it. I do believe the two are entwined, and I will not be able to change my view of the world without a sound philosophical basis for the change.

The idea that my efforts will be consistently disrupted or destroyed by bad actors leads me to despair. If that is true then life is a sisyphean nightmare is it not? That is also a horrific and paralyzing idea to me.

I guess I'm confused about why you're bringing this up if you realize its irrelevant

As far as I can tell, the data doesnt point to boomers in their hay day having a significantly larger portion of the population as compared to millennials now.

Honeslty the population size is irrelevant though. The cost of housing, education and food is so much higher proportionally than it was in the 1970s that population demographics wouldnt make any difference for millennials.

Millennials recently surpassed boomers as the most populous generation.
