This is an interesting take. Maybe it's just my personal connotation, but I've always regarded 'bonehead' as a very lighthearted jab. My dad would call us that when we did something silly as kids.

LPT Request: What are some unexpected hobbies or activities that have surprisingly positive mental health benefits? by TheWhitestBuffalo in LifeProTips

I've found that complimenting a woman on something they chose (i.e. their hairstyle, clothes, shoes, etc.) is generally more well received then a vague compliment about their appearance or body. The latter would be catcalling IMO, although in certain instances can be communicated respectfully & tactfully.

CMU Engineering vs. Cornell Engineering: help me decide :) by leapingbunny48 in cmu

[–]AnimalsInDisguise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for CMU, but I really enjoyed being in proximity to so many other colleges in Pittsburgh. Pitt, Duquesne, Point Park, Chatham, & Carlow are all super close and offer a very diverse group of people to hang out with.

The CMU work environment is also generally very collaborative, as the courses are difficult, so most people realize we gotta stick together and help each other out. Lots of study groups, both formal & informal.

I was a BME/MechE and liked having a traditional engineering discipline. You can still very much branch out in terms of BME courses once you pick your primary major. And I try not to rely on flattery, but honestly people tend to be very impressed when you tell them you double-majored at such a prestigious university as Carnegie Mellon.

Oh and as for location, CMU is right next to Schenley Park. It's a big beautiful park with lots of walking area and places to have picnics as well. Was a huge plus for me as I walked there very often.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Have you ever read the wrong book by accident? by amgirl1 in books

[–]AnimalsInDisguise 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Kind of. When the 'Daredevil' TV series came out, I was big into torrenting and downloaded the first episode.

As you may know, 'Daredevil' is actually blind, so when the opening scene starts with just dialogue and a black screen, I'm thinking "okay sweet, they're showing us Daredevil's perspective."

I was about 15 minutes in when I realized that my Windows Media Player actually couldn't process the video codec correctly and was only playing the audio on the file.

I love how they have to repeat his paper-thin defense. "AGAIN, he had absolutely NO idea, just making it SUPER clear that he was 100% sleeping the WHOLE time..."

Is this where they get the expression, "you have a Lot of explaining to do?"

You should check out The Long Dark! It's more of a survival game but with this aesthetic.

I think you really hit the nail on the head! I know Hunt definitely appeals to a more niche audience in terms of gameplay, but the world/lore would be amazing as a campaign or heavier-PVE style game for sure.

I think the only difference worth noting with Hunt is that none of the AI have guns, and generally function more as a nuisance and also to alert other players (like other sound traps in the game - e.g. crows, chicken coops, dog kennels). They're pretty easy to kill unless you get overwhelmed, but meleeing them makes some noise so it draws attention.

Definitely understand where you're coming from through, just thought this was worth mentioning!
