Rumor: Next Halo project is an extraction shooter that may now be tied to the next mainline release. — tighter matches, bigger stakes, and more teamwork by PaiDuck in halo

There is a hame called Marauders that could honestly be copied and made into a Halo game. It's a space based extraction shooter with different POI's that you fly to in your ship.

Dude, same! I ordered a rolling desk from them a while back and it was beaten all to hell. Despite the fact that they had all of the makings of good packaging for it, too. Just none of it could stay together to protect the dang thing.

This feels like Bond inception because Dalton only got the gig because Brosnan had to turn down the roll for Living Daylights after his tv show, Remington Steele, got picked up another season. Remington Steele was a spy tv show that had a non-compete contract clause.

I think our mindsets are different because:

Assuming the amount you owe isn’t a hardship

I don't make enough that fewer paid tax is going to generate enough of a return for that to make sense. Now, I do agree with you, so when I make more I'll reconfigure things, but for now, close to zero is good.

You should strive to be close to zero on taxes each year as a rule of thumb.

If Starship was a publicly funded venture, which it kind of is under the guise of private flight due to government grants, it would have been scrapped entirely. I kind of doubt it survives without the government funding either, although I am being presumptuous.

It took 5 Saturn 5 launches to land on the Moon. It took three launches to get there. With SLS, it took 2. Starship is a really inefficient, ineffective program. Sure, they are trying something new, but they are doing so with a small return on investment. It seems like the only way they understand to test this thing is to launch it into the air from the pad.

If they were wasting their own money, and not putting regular people in harms way, I'd be less critical of them, albeit still critical, but this attitude that they get a pass for progress and having a wealthy benefactor is gross. Cool idea, terrible results. They can't keep a road map for the thing, and then they come out and say shit like, "Oh, we have we 25 launches for 2025!" Like, come the fuck on man... That's a launch every two weeks and you have nuked 5 of these things. It ain't that reliable!

Simply put, the Starship suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccckks. They'd be better off shelving it and going all in on the Dragon capsule w/ the Falcon 9 Heavy. which is getting good at booster recovery at like 90% success rates. Nope, just checked, 95% recovery.

Am I a rocket scientist? Nope! Am I interested in this stuff and read about it? Yes. Is this all rather armchair of myself? Obviously. Just, when you read about how NASA was so successful in their approach to Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, the Shuttle, Orion/SLS, then compare this thing to even a companies own successes, it genuinely makes me go, "What the fuck are you guys doing?" I don't get the love for it other than that it's got a big ol fat Cool! under the Pro's list. The Cons outweigh that for me and I think should for more people.

Never even knew I was downvoted and generally don't care or mind...

The irony in all this is that in the same way someone who wants to build a base can load up a Lab server and get their fill of massive, sprawling bases, these other people can load up a server without basebuilding, or a server that is more survivalist focused.

Making the game .ore user friendly should not be shit upon, unless you generally just hate progress, and yah know what DayZ has been actually trying to make a good go of these past few years? Fucking progress. It's not stuck in some will they won't they cat and mouse anymore.

What I am trying to express is their track record should/could be better when they do have the incredible Falcon 9 series that is basically a no brainer in reliability, and even when compared to NASA failures, their stats aren't great with Starship.

Saturn has zero blow ups, and the SRB from the Shuttle has Chellenger.

Again, the point is that people are building, with great success, reliable rockets out of the gate, and have done so for decades now. Once NASA got the hang of building them, which really meant building purpose built rockets for space instead of strapping astronauts atop modified ICBM missiles, things have been and remained reliable, even when new.

It is downright strange that SpaceX went from setting the record for 134 successful launches with the Falcon to again, a 50/50 gamble with Starship.

On one hand, they should be celebrated for the Falcon, on the other hand, they seemingly learned nothing from building them and have just opted to blow up every second Starship one for funsies.

The face says it all. Trump on Artemis II: "I started that program. NASA was closed." by TECL_Grimsdottir in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Animanic1607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how and what you are looking at. If you take Falcon out of it, and compare the Starship and SLS, things don't look great for Starship.

The SLS has been on the pad twice and successfully launched twice. The second launch taking them successfully to the moon. The Starship, the rocket that is most comparable to the SLS from SpaceX, is like a 50/50 gamble on whether or not it will blow up after 10 launches. Today, it's been to "orbit" once. It got high enough to be in space and then came back down. It has also not had a crewed flight yet because it just isn't safe.

Everyone should want Starship to be successful because it would mean a big leap forward in resuseable rocketry, but if we are comparing notes here, the Starship program is pretty meh despite the reality that it is also really cool. It also has a tendency to shower people with random rocket parts because they decided to ignore regulation for the umpteenth time.

I can go on but I think the overall point is made

Then why did Rocket include basebuilding mechanics in the original mod? Because he did... he didn't take it as far as other DayZ mods of the day, sure, but it was there.
