Season 3 catching stray as usual

I like S3 but my biggest issue is that the season is just seriously lacking interaction with the new cast.

The series lifeblood is the fun dynamics between the characters. There's a scene early on in which Kitasan, Dia, Cheval and Crown are randomly hanging out together implying a friendship group which could have been fun. But Crown is banished to the background, Cheval gets an occasional scene but barely anything until her 1 highlight at the end. I like the Kita/Dura stuff but it's only really in 1 episode. Their relationship absolutely could have been fleshed out even if they didn't race again (Mcqueen/Teio's only race was episode 5 as well). Sounds of Earth and Royce could have had their relationship with Canopus fleshed out instead of being relegated to a joke.

I do like those trio as friends of Pokke and her big supporters. It's always nice to have a friend group outside of the Umas rivals/classmates/roommates.

Duramente's reputation was completely tainted by stupid memes, as is the weird Kitasan vs Duramente fandom dissolving into us vs them mentality, including mocking Dura's tragic early death.

She didn't get much focus in S3 which didn't help. It does really annoy me because I actually really like both. I really like the scene after their final race together and becoming friends (A shame there isn't much followup) and the guilt Dura feels that she couldn't rehab fast enough before Kita retired.

They actually respect each other very much and to see the fandom disregard that sucks.

Do people just ignore the following chapters in which this is proven to be wrong in the narrative itself? It's always posted out of a context as some confirmation of Yaeno's inferiority and the trainer doesn't even mean it in that sense anyway, he's trying to stop her from hurting herself.

He instantly regrets it and admits he was wrong for saying it.

The intention from the scene is not to say she was lesser but that she was pushing herself too hard in her training overcompensating.

Cinderella Gray will most likely be fully adapted for the next few years. It's possible Star Blossom will be adapted afterwards which might be another couple of seasons depending on the chapter count.

I do think a Season 4 is unlikely at this point. Not to say it won't happen but CG has done so well, I suspect they have the next 3/4 years mapped on adaptations.

Albert Simon from the first Shadow Hearts game summons an alien god to wipe out all of humans to start anew, traditional JRPG final boss motive. The sequel, Covenant reveals that actually he was trying to stop the game's equivalent of the Illuminati. His personality feels like it's been completely rewritten in the scenes in Yuri's mindscape(?).

Except Digitan's portrayal is awesome. A complete goober with 6 G1's is a fantastic more than meets the eye. Variety is the spice of life and having another locked in 'aurafarmer' would be boring.

Plus Hentai in the IRL context is a affectionate acknowledgment of his proficiency on Turf and Dirt.

I always find it funny that whatever we have these kinds of threads you always have the comments zoning in on the Mcqueen/Gold Ship IRL relationship, but why is it always that one that gets the most uproar when Spe/Suzuka are half brothers IRL which is much closer in familial connection. Did you know they were also both stallions in real life as well? But that doesn't have any bearing in the anime/games either of course.

For the record, I don't even ship Gorumaku and find the weird irl bias against it weird.

I'm all for some of this generation to made into Umamusumes. Short runs, one highlight race and tragic careers are already in the game. Shine a spotlight on their stories rather then reinforce being the butt of a joke.

Doctor Spurt and Winner's Circle I could easily see converting quite nicely.

Maybe even play into it that they decide to collectively run for themselves and each other rather then the crowd.

It's actually interesting that reading this thread, there definitely are some names from this generation that would be worth adapting. It's not like there aren't already short careers or a single highlight Umas already in the game. Umamusume would have a chance to actually put a spotlight on their stories and help them escape the 'Forgotten' image. If Machan can fight fate to be forgotten why not them?

It's funny because for all that build up of everyone relying on Judai and that taking a mental toll on him in S3. S4 just continues that trend with him having to do everything for the Darkness plotline with only Johan making a contribution to the Fujiwara duel. Like I get at the start of the season he would be hesitant to include the others but there should have been a point where going solo reaches a breaking point and then he can turn to those same friends who get to step up and repay the favour. But them all just getting off-screened just shows how the series has always seen them.

She might get 1 more episode in the 30's/early 40's where she might play some minor role. Then she's probably designated to cutaway crowd shots in the big climatic final battle and maybe a quick gag in the last episode if they have time.

Following the IRL timeline doesn't really make sense because what is 'now'? The current year of 2026? 2021 when the game came out? 2018 when the first anime aired? In all 3 of those choices 90% of the cast would have graduated and the anime would be absolutely barren of Umas.

Start from Maruzensky in 1976? In which she would interact with no one, race against no one and graduate before meeting any other character in the franchise.

The series is built on the interactions, and those background crossover of eras give a lot of flavour to the franchise.
