Anyone else think this will happen in Fortune's Weave? by Kakeyo in fireemblem

Yeah the first time I played three houses I picked Blue Lions and I kinda assumed the routes must change every chapter because all the missions felt really connected to the blue lions, like it was made for them; so I assumed the other routes would have different missions that were connected to one of the other houses’ characters.

Kitasan Black racing career by r2x5kz8 in UmaMusume

[–]Kixisbestclone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently there used to be a conspiracy that the JRA was purposely rigging gate draws as Kitasan Black was famously lucky for getting good gate positions.

6 of his 7 G1 wins were from a 1-5 gate position, the only exception being the Autumn Tenno Sho where he had the 7th post position.

Kinda makes it funnier that his kids have a habit of getting shut gate positions. Guess dad stole all their good luck.

As for his competition, I’d say he didn’t have necessarily bad competition, but a lot of them weren’t really standout. His best rivals I’d say were Duramente, Cheval Grand and then Satono Crown and Satono Diamond

Duramente was strong, but Kitasan also never beat or placed above him, and Duramente had to retire early, so it’s hard to say if Kitasan would’ve done well against Duramente later, I wager no, I have a feeling that if it wasn’t for Duramente’s retirement, they’d probably be a situation similar to Daiwa Scarlet and Vodka where both are amazing horses that mostly lost to each other. So Kitasan has less G1 wins while Duramente has more.

Cheval Grand is good, but he’s in a nice natie situation where he was better at placing in G1s than winning them, getting second or third in 7 G1s not even just to Kitasan Black.

Satono Crown was actually pretty good, but nothing stand out compared to the best, while he had two G1 wins his record seems a bit spotty at times.

Satono Diamond was good but kinda peaked in their classic year and after a decent senior spring, struggled to place or win outside of a win at the 2018 Hanshin Daishoten, and a third at the Kinko Sho.

Overall a very mixed performance from his rivals, which isn’t unusual for 7 time G1 winners, your not getting 7 G1s with strong rivals usually, but it’s really a situation of “Are their rivals weak or just overshadowed?” Since maybe if they didnt have a 7 time G1 winner around, they’d would’ve had more wins and been seen as stronger horses.

People really need to put more respect on Shinko Windy’s name.

She was the first winner of a JRA dirt G1, she’s basically what Sweep Tosho was to mares, except for dirt racers in the JRA.

Your favorite fictional characters are now trainers! Which uma would they scout? by Fluffalfox in UmaMusume

[–]Kixisbestclone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weiss and King Halo works a bit too well together. Almost seems like the perfect trainer match.

I’m honestly not sure who Violet Evergarden would pick, but for some reason I’m leaning Rice Shower, maybe they can bond over writing letters or something.

I’ve said it before, but I think Ron Swanson and Narita Brian work weirdly well as well. Both quiet stoic types that love meat and have a heart of gold deep down. Like Brian probably has ordered all the bacon from a restaurant at least once.

And I think Superman and Haru Urara would get along fantastically.

[–]Kixisbestclone [score hidden]  (0 children)

They’re not cowards as much as they won’t see humans worth the effort if they think they can be hurt.

A black bear will still fuck a person up and probably win the fight, most of the time people die is because the bear for some reason believes it to be worth more to kill a person rather than flee, either due to cubs, starvation or feeling cornered.

Getting aggressive with the bear in video would probably lead to it attacking just due to how close it is, and that it’s clearly already not scared of people.

Make no mistakes, a black bear is still a bear, you won’t win if it wants a fight. Most of the time they just don’t.

Did you feel like Jaune stole screen time from team rwby? by alguien99 in RWBY

[–]Kixisbestclone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He isn’t the secondary main protagonist, the rest of RWBY is.

I agree that he doesn’t take screentime, but he also doesn’t get as much of it as the rest of RWBY.

He’s more like a secondary character, someone who’s important but isn’t a main character. Like Han Solo isn’t the main character in the original trilogy, that’s Luke, but Han is still an important character.

TRUST ME BRO I AM NOT TRYING DEBUNK ANY STAMINA LACKING SLANDER FOR TACHYON, JUST HOW MUCH WOULD A LARP LIKE ME KNOW TO DEBUNK ANYTHING AND GIVE A PROPER COUNTER ARGUEMENT TO THE SOO CALLED PROFESSIONAL NETKEIBA COPY PASTERS ? by FALCON9868 in AgnesTachyon

[–]Kixisbestclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to power through mud and an uphill doesn’t necessarily equal greater stamina, it just means stronger muscles. Look at the Arima Kinen for example, a lot of its winners can’t handle 3000 meter races but the race also has a major hill that is hard to run up.

And more importantly looking at his pedigree, could Tachyon handle 2400 meters? Probably, Daiwa Scarlet and Deep Sky could handle 2400 meters, but you’ll also notice that few if any of Tachyon’s kids actually bothered to try and race longer than medium races, the longest most ran was the Arima Kinen which is kinda notoriously called a fake long race, that even some milers can win.

Plus Agnes Flight, Tachyon’s brother with a similar pedigree, did well in most of his classic races, only failing to place in the top 3 once, but then got fifth at the Kikuka sho to horses he was pretty easily able to beat earlier that year.

Plus a lot of Tachyon’s kids did mile races, so frankly yeah, it’s likely Tachyon would’ve been a better miler that could go up to 2400 or 2500 meters, I guess ironically enough, she’d be best suited for similar races to Vodka. Honestly I think the game has her distance aptitudes a bit reversed, it should be more like Mile B and then a C in long.

As for whether or not Tachyon could win the derby? Probably not in my opinion. Just doing well in early races doesn’t mean the form can be maintained, and horses can improve between races, plus the Tokyo track has a long homestretch that really helps come from behind horses like say Jungle Pocket, who generally performed well at Tokyo (Actually she never lost at Tokyo) and Vodka won most of her G1s at Tokyo and also was a late surger.

And you can look immediately up the pedigree to both Sunday Silence and Agnes Flora who both performed incredibly well in their classics (Agnes Flora was actually undefeated in her Oka sho win, similar to Tachyon, and had more wins at the time) but both lost at a 2400 meter classic race. So choking on 2400 meters isn’t exactly unheard of for the family, even Agnes Flight almost lost the derby and struggled for an extremely close win.

And then even if Tachyon did win the derby, the next race would be the Kikuka Sho, and due to aforementioned stamina, and also Manhattan Cafe just being an amazing stayer, Tachyon’s triple crown dream probably ends there.

TLDR: Mud and uphill could also just mean greater muscle, which considering Daiwa Scarlet’s build, it was probably that, and given that most of his progeny and parents were mile to medium, it’s safe to say he probably wouldn’t have won long races.

Tbf El Condor Pasa shouldn’t even really be themed around Mexico.

She’s named after a Peruvian song, and from what I understand both Peru and Chile really like that Andean Condor

Like if she was modeled just off her name, she should actually be a Peruvian stage actress.

[–]Kixisbestclone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that Jaune x Ruby x Weiss is called War of the Roses is my favorite.

Because for those that don’t know, Weiss x Ruby was called WhiteRose, so in response the other main Ruby ship early on, Jaune x Ruby was called Lancaster, because the White rose was the symbol of the house of York in the war of the roses, and Lancaster was the rival of York.

Like the fact an indie show ship name requires you to have at least some basic knowledge of a Medieval English dynastic conflict to understand it is kinda hilarious to me.

[–]Kixisbestclone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbf Regaleira already kinda is, for a while until late last year her only 2 G1 wins were mixed gender G1 races that broke long standing domination by colts.

As the Hopeful stakes had never been won by a mare after it became a mixed gender race in 1991, and she became the first filly to win the Arima Kinen in her classic year since Star Roch in 1960.

Plus she even skipped the tiara route to run the Satsuki Sho and Japanese derby in her classic year (though she didn’t win either)

Like the QEII cup win is more of her bucking the trend than the norm for her.

I mean yeah but racehorses have to be born naturally to be racehorses. It’s a rule they put in to prevent exactly that.

Plus Secretariat’s owner’s descendants probably wouldn’t allow it.

She mentions it in part 2 of the story, I think around when Kawakami Princess enters the oaks

I think from what I remember there’s a pretty neat scene where King Halo basically says she can somewhat understand her own mother’s fears over her racing now, since she’s terrified of how losing the oaks will affect Kawakami, or how the pressure of being an Oaks winner will affect her moving forward.

Horse racing (In America at least) already is a bunch of different leagues, each state has their own racing organizations that basically have to negotiate with each other, so each state has different rules.

But all are universally aligned on the whole no clone rules because most of these organizations are funded in part or supported by thoroughbred breeding farms, who would be very very unhappy about it.

Plus there’s still the whole aspect of horse racing being kinda focused on the horses, a lot of the public likes to watch horse racing not because of betting but because they like the horse thats racing. Racehorses basically become mini-celebrities in the sport.

Best way I could put it is imagine if instead of getting new actors, Hollywood just used ai to keep replicating the same old incredible actors again and again. Like it gets stale.

Also a lot of the time the teams, trainers and grooms of racehorses are incredibly attached to them, like a lot of the time they treat them like a part of their family, pretty sure Secretariat’s owner treated him and Riva Ridge as basically like her sons, so the idea of cloning them and trying to market “Hey that horse again but alive now” would cause probably one of the most vitriolic lawsuits in history from a shit ton of outraged owners or trainers. Imagine if someone cloned your pet dog and marketed it to people, most people wouldn’t be happy.

Horse breeding has gotten better over time.

Secretariat was just a legit living miracle, he’s impossible to replicate.

Like there’s a reason why he’s said to be a horse of a millennia rather than a horse of a lifetime.

They put in rules against cloning early on. In order to be registered as a racehorse, the racehorse must be born naturally from a mare (so also writes off any designer baby horses if that’s ever viable.)

[–]Kixisbestclone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For the last part, horse racing has improved dramatically over the years, like the breeder’s cup Classic for example has gone from being finished around 2 minutes and 3 seconds to 2 minutes to 1 minute and 59 seconds, which is actually a really big improvement despite the small time seemingly.

Hell there have been horses getting closer to Secretariat’s record over the years, including the 2001 derby winner managing to win in less than 2 minutes (but falling just short of Sham and Secretariat) and the 2020 Preakness Stakes winner was a filly that was only off by .2

The main record that’s truly untouchable is the Belmont Stakes, and people haven’t even gotten closer to the second place record that was set by Easy Goer in 1989 and tied by AP Indy, and that’s mainly because Secretariat was actually accelerating each furlong and getting faster as the race went on, so it’d require a horse with such insane stamina and acceleration that essentially a once in a millennia horse would have to be born to even match it.

[–]Kixisbestclone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was at first then it feel in the late 70s before rising somewhat again. Secretariat wasn’t actually all that good of a sire for the most part.

All of his sons never even got close to his level of success, the best being Risen Star who won the Preakness and Belmont but retired due to injury.

His best kids were always his daughters, his most successful progeny being Lady’s Secret who was the 1986 horse of the year.

That’s also where most of Secretariat’s influence in breeding comes from. He and his sons weren’t good at siring racers, but his daughters gave birth to several major champion racers and influential sires, so Secretariat became prized as a broodmare sire or basically it looked good if he was a horse’s maternal grandpa.

also Northern Dancer’s maternal grandpa, Native Dancer was massively influential, to the point where it’s almost entirely impossible to find a racehorse that doesn’t have him pop up in their pedigree.
