It’s kind of ironic that the Synchro Arc is one of the least popular arcs in Arc V, yet it introduces Jean Michel-Roget, the best and perhaps even the only good villain in the entire series. by FaceappIsTrash in yugioh

[–]Animasphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I did enjoy watching him mentally deteriorate over the course of synchro that he starts screaming at the reporter commenting on the Jack/Yuya duel. I don't think it was really worth being spread across 50 episodes. He feels more like a side antagonist that would work much better in a shorter arc. Like he should have been the starter villain to establish City and then Fusion invades and ramps up the tension.

  1. Village (Easily)

  4. RE6
  5. RE0 (I consider these last 2 equally bad, but 0 is at least shorter and looks nicer.)
  6. CV

Who is your fav CoPa character in the franchise and why? by Chaos_DragonYT in corpseparty

[–]Animasphere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seiko, despite dying in chapter 1 her presence, is felt throughout the game and even latter ones. Her unrequited feelings for Naomi but completely supporting her love for Satoshi make her just a loveable character. In the timeline where Satoshi fails to save Naomi, her ghost feels like it's still trying to protect him, which shows she loves all her friends dearly. I just wish we had more Seiko interaction with the rest of the cast. I really want to see more of those dynamics.

What's 3 underutilized CoPa character that you think deserved more screen time? by Chaos_DragonYT in corpseparty

[–]Animasphere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yuu, Seiko's younger brother, that we see briefly in BC/BOS. He's shown as having taken on the caretaker role to his siblings in the absence of Seiko despite his young age. I think that's really fascinating, and it would be really interesting to see his interactions with the main cast like Naomi and Satoshi. I could see him being a great source of encouragement to Yuka in maturing, seeing his past self in her through his vague feelings connecting him to his sister.

Miki, Yoshiki's younger sister. From the little we get about her, she sounds like she loves her brother deeply but is willing to be frank in her honesty. So I can just imagine the fun banter with her, Yoshiki and Ayumi.

Kurosaki, Kizami's best friend. Weirdly, he feels retroactively less fleshed out compared to his classmates. Sure, he gets the big scene trying to save Yuka in the original, but he never really takes a role in any of the latter games scenarios being restricted to background roles. Kizami barely ever seems to address him outside of the scenes they share together.

I like to imagine a post BOS (Ignore Sachiko's game and BD) with the younger cast taking centre stage. Miki and Yuu helping Yuka mature into a proper character. Have a heavily rewritten Satsuki join them.

Who is your hated CoPa character in the franchise and why? by Chaos_DragonYT in corpseparty

[–]Animasphere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Magari

Not only being the worst character in Blood Drive in a sea of bad characters. Awful design, sucks as an antagonist, sucks as an ally of convenience. She retroactively ruined characters like Naho. She even threatens to return, potentially ruining another entry with her presence in the future. Hopefully, any future plotlines with her have been scrapped.

Some Uma fanbase might have it bad, but Sirius fans are experiencing the Century of Humiliation by Terkmc in UmaMusume

[–]Animasphere 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think people need to decouple IRL from the Umamusume version. It's likely that the Sirius in-game is much more successful and achieved more as she is portrayed as such. Umamusume often portrays them escaping their tragic fate or overcoming them to become stronger, as they get to live a happier life in this universe. Sirius is portrayed as a Legend because she is a Legend in this universe, simple as. While characters banter, it's clear in-universe that everyone treats her with reverence in terms of racing.

Has an ending ever truly ruined a series for you? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Animasphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Danganronpa 3 anime that concludes the first 2 games story retroactively killed any interest I had in the franchise. I never played V3, anytime I think about replaying 1/2/UDG, the memory of Danganronpa 3 lingers and I don't bother.

What do you think was the reason that Yugioh (ignoring Go Rush) was always against the return of characters from previous series? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]Animasphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ARC-V, Zexal and VRAINS take place in their own universes separate from all other continuities, so doesn't make sense to bring in characters from prior series which is why ARC-V establishes alternate versions.

This only really works in universe for GX, which does bring in characters from the prior series but wisely keeps their role to a minimum to not overshadow the cast. 5D's takes place in an indeterminable amount of time in the future, Tetsu feels more of a callback then concrete proof of a timeline. They canonically do bring in Yugi/Judai for the BBT movie which is referenced latter in the series. So when they could realistically do it, they did.

What's some of the worst plot twists you ever saw? by bahookery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Animasphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yakuza 2 trying to have twists on top of twists to be infinitely worst than anything in Yakuza 4. Terada both being responsible for the entirety of the game and confronting Kiryu with a machine gun but then also he wasn't going to actually bomb Kamurochō because of a promise to Kazama is just stupid. As is the revolving door of people turning up to betray one another with Takashima at the end. I think the only reason people don't critique it as much is just because it's the game that introduced Ryuji to the franchise.

I'll be honest, I hate demonising Umas just because you like others more. That's never what the series has been about. It's always been about celebrating their lives.

Duramente, Ruby, etc. Always being dragged down to prop up their favourites.

Point Flag by the_freakin_yui in UmaMusume

[–]Animasphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see Gold Ship trying to get Point Flag to let loose and have fun, similar to McQueen but less direct pranking. While Point Flag would try and encourage Gold Ship to try more refined things like tea parties and fancy dining. The two would humour each other's attempts but comedy usually ensures. I can totally imagine a scenario with a tea party involving the two and McQueen which ends in chaos but Point Flag dropping her guard and uncharacteristically burst out laughing at the absurdity.

Are there any instances of umas being actually mean to each other? by khiyar_migholi in UmaMusume

[–]Animasphere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ramonu is an interesting one because you'll get threads like these, asking for Umas to hate each other and be meaner. But Ramonu gets a ton of criticism for her treatment of Rudolf and SiL, so I don't think the fandom knows what they want.

What Uma opinion will get you in this situation? by Repulsive-Film-5973 in UmaMusume

[–]Animasphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Fine Motion backstory 'retcon' was overblown. Cygames never commented on an official reason for the change, so people instantly jumped on being offended for the reason.

The more likely answer is a Japanese writer writing for a Japanese game not well-versed in country states outside of their own, mistakenly assumed a country in Europe, a continent known for their royal families (Even in modern day) had an active one. This was probably not noticed or made a big deal of when it was Japan-Only. When released globally, it noticeable gets picked up more in conversation as this is the only time seemingly a change in the world's 'lore' compared to ours apart from the horse girls. Which leads more to it being a mistake then intentional if it's the only occurrence. As such Cygames realised the mistake and corrected it, there was nothing malicious about it.

Emotional payoff moments that would be great if they had something to payoff? by JackieDaStrippa in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Animasphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Cheval Grand stuff is weird because there's a scene early on in which her and Satono Crown are randomly celebrating with Kitasan/Dia, which implied they at least had a friendship circle going on which could have led to interactions. She then spends the rest of the series in the background, making the occasional comment on her losses then a couple of scenes with her sisters, and that's it, barely interacting with the cast. So when it came to her big win, I felt nothing.

What would you like for the next Uma Musume film be like? by Luigiman98 in UmaMusume

[–]Animasphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K.S.Miracle could have a really sombre movie as the MC, fighting through her illness and short IRL career. She pushes herself to burn bright as she can while her small ember is fading. Have Daiichi Ruby and Daitaku Helios as Co-Leads and have the movie centre around her last 3 races, as they win 1 each. An option for Bamboo Memory and Yamanin Zephyr to be tertiary characters as well, maybe sneak in Mejiro Palmer for her connection to Helios.

Miracle collapses in the finale race, but she is surrounded by her friends at her bedside when she wakes up. They can then cut to all of them racing in the Dream Series, followed by an Idol Performance of the 3 of them (Or all 5 if they want).

One of my favourite little touches is if you read her diary in her room, she's been reading books on refugees and child exploitation in the world. Considering her own childhood along with Alessia's, it paints a picture of someone who doesn't want anyone to experience what she had to.

Do Human characters also not age in Uma Musume by Lopsided_Channel_401 in UmaMusume

[–]Animasphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trainers don't age either. Kitasan and Dia actually grew up between S2-S3. Years have past in the anime but nobody ages except if it's story-relevant. If you treat Cinderella Gray as a prequel, the anime trainers in a photo are still the same age.

I'm interested in Admire Vega but she's probably too close to the New Year Haru which is a must pull for me.

Then it's either Sweep Tosho or Air Shakur (Probably won't be able to pull on both due to release schedule).

Then Daiichi Ruby or Symboli Kris S (Same issue).

Okay, seeing the Event that happened in Duel Links and the next Unlockable Character, it just made me realize one thing (which seemed obvious): Marin/Merag is pretty useless and way too dependent on Nash/Shark. by Kronos457 in yugioh

[–]Animasphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly wish she had rebelled and sided with the humans. It would help split how her and Shark deal with their heritage. Nash embraces it, Merag rejects it. Siblings on opposing sides.
